Chapter 46 What Are You Hiding?
Sering Radley’s silence, Freya frowned.
“So, you didn’t hire someone to take care of Grandma?”
“I did.” He spoke in a deep voice, thinking of the phone call from Danna.
Danna was the one who called to tell him about Daniella’s disappearance. She said Daniella wanted to go for a walk and kept repeating that she wanted to eat roasted chestnuts. Daniella vanished in a flash when Danna went to buy chestnuts.
Radley spoke slowly, with some hesitation. “This was an accident.”
Freya relaxed. “Just be careful in the future.”
After all, it was not her grandmother, and she didn’t want to say too much. She turned and left.
From behind her, she heard Radley’s voice.
“Freya, thank you for this.”
“It’s nothing. I did it for Grandma.”
As he watched Freya walk away, Radley’s gaze became more intricate.
Not long after Daniella disappeared, Danna called, sobbing pitifully. She had been blaming herself for not watching Daniella closely, which dispelled Radley’s last shred of doubt.
A week passed, and Freya was at last able to relax.
Since the precedent set by Jacob, the company’s executives had been working honestly.
Freya also adjusted the home security system and looked into the whereabouts of the driver who hit Braxton. What she found was that the driver had died in an accident.
Something is definitely off about this! Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
Freya was astounded and gave it some careful thought.
Her enemy was most likely lurking and waiting to strike again. She had just learned the tiniest piece of information about the enemy, but she now had to go back and restart.
Her only option was to increase her vigilance. If they decided to attack again, she would be well- prepared and would be able to catch them.
Meanwhile, at the Kaufmann Group.
On the top floor of the president’s office, Freya leaned back in her chair, playing a card game on her phone.
The head of the business department was excited “Miss Kaufmann, I wanted to tell you about some news I
verheard at the banquet yesterday.”
The business department held numerous banquets to maintain relationships, so there would be a lot of
talking
Freya quickly understood.
Next month, the official government of Caltun would be bidding for a redevelopment project. This project was a top priority for Caltun’s future plans.
Caltun was vast, and the Kaufmanns and the Monaghans each had their own territory in the north and south. The commercial development on both sides was positive. The east side was stable, but the western. side of the city was an old city area, where the city first developed.
After decades, the area had accumulated many dilapidated buildings. Following a discussion and meeting. the government decided to put out a bid for a large corporation to plan and rebuild the old city.
“The western city area is quite large!” said the head of the business department.
Listening to their analysis, Ayden furrowed his brow. This sounds promising but it will be difficult. The western city area is inhabited by many elderly residents who have lived in Caltun for a long time.”
“All troubles can become opportunities as long as they are resolved!” said the head of the market department on the side.
The two clearly showed great interest in this bid. Freya was also interested.
However, Ayden was a little worried. “Miss Kaufmann, the overall planning and reconstruction of the western city area is too large. Shouldn’t we ask Mr. Kaufmann to decide?”
Freya raised her head, her face showing strong interest. “No need. Since we have received news in advance, we cannot let it go to waste. Let’s prepare to bid for it.”
Despite the fact that it was an older neighborhood, she had a strong connection to the west city area because it was where she attended Caltun High School and Evergreen University.
“Miss Kaufmann, are you sure about this?” Ayden wanted to persuade her again.
Freya knew how urgent the need for reconstruction was in that area. She wanted to make money, but more importantly, she wanted to help the people in Caltun.
“As you said, this is a difficult but promising offer. The Kaufmann Group is not the only large corporation in Caltun. It’s possible that the bidding process may fail. We need to take one step at a time. Overthinking and being too cautious may cause us to miss the opportunity.”
She smiled at Ayden, her eyes firm and resolute.
Unexpectedly, Ayden became more assured. “Okay, I’ll get started on the bidding documents.”
At the Monaghan Group, Radley went through the documents brought by the assistant and read throught all the contents carefully.
He rubbed his forehead and said. “This plan won’t work. Let them redo it. We must win the bid for the West Geft renovation project!”
In response, Connor grabbed the papers off the table and left.
Radley sat for a while and picked up his phone.
He opened a short video app and saw that there was one follower who hadn’t broadcasted yet. Freya had recently shared a few short videos, mostly about health and makeup. The comments were overwhelmingly positive, with many remarking that it wasn’t just makeup, but a total transformation.
Radley fixed his gaze on Freya’s bright smile on the screen.
Like the sun, her eyes were beautiful and radiant.
Since Freya lost her memory, she seemed to have found herself.
Radley was lost in thought for a moment but quickly closed the app and picked up the pile of documents on the side to continue reading.
The news about the bidding for the West Geft renovation project didn’t remain a secret for too spread privately in Caltun a week before the official announcement was made.
I wasn’t just about making money, but also about gaining a good reputation. Working with the government would also improve credibility in the future.
long. It
Many large corporations in Caltun wanted to seize this opportunity, and some corporations in nearby cities were also preparing.
After finishing her work at the Kaufmann Group, Freya tucked away the bid documents and the old city renovation plan, which had taken her a week to prepare, and locked them in the safe before departing.
After that, Ayden drove her to the hospital.
Upon arriving at Braxton’s ward, Freya saw her mother chatting with Isabella.
Isabella was normally a free-spirited girl, but right now she sat there acting prim and proper while calling Sylvia “Aunt Sylvia” repeatedly.
Freya couldn’t help but laugh.
“What were you talking about?” Freya asked.
“Oh, Frey, you’re here! I was just thanking Izzy for looking after your brother these past few days,” Sylvia
said.
Freya, who was knowledgeable about traditional medicine, felt her brother’s pulse. Braxton withdrew his hand and said, “I’m in the hospital. What are you checking my pulse for?”
“I just want to see how well you’re taking care of yourself,” Freya said, blinking. “What are you hiding?”
Braxton refused to give her his hand. He knew how accurate Freya’s pulse diagnosis was. It was so accurate that she could even uncover some private matters.
Sylvia looked outside at the sky and stood up. “Okay, I’m going home. Frey, you should go home early
too.”
“Alright.” Freya smiled.
After Sylvia left, Freya sat next to Isabella and whispered. “You were so prim and proper just now.”
Isabella glared at Freya fiercely.
Freya whispered, “It’s a huge contrast to when you were with the escort.”
Her voice was not very loud, but Braxton, who was lying on the bed, was propping up his ears to listen.
“Escort?!”
Isabella’s face froze, and Freya silently turned her head. “I’m talking about sports! I’m showing Izzy some exercises so she can aid in your recovery.”
Braxton’s expression loosened a bit.
Isabella panicked. “I’m not doing any exercises with him!”
