Lenora and Zachary Chapter 521

Chapter 521 Hurt Her

With her eyes blindfolded, her bodily senses became increasingly sharp.

The wind whistled as it tore through the air, brushing past her ears.

Sophia's body plummeted rapidly, her screams uncontrollable.

Adrenaline surged, and her heart pounded wildly. A feeling of breathlessness, a rush of blood, and a buzzing noise filled her brain.

The intense shock had long since shattered Sophia's courage. Her heart hung suspended in mid-air, and she was constantly feeling like she was about to plummet to the ground the next second. She felt she was about to have a catastrophic fall. She was consumed by fear so intense that it felt as if her soul was shattering.

She kept screaming and shouting uncontrollably like someone was constantly pressing the switch of a squeaky toy. She couldn't hold back at all.

She had forgotten to think, even forgotten to close her eyes. The tears of emotion had soaked the black blindfold she wore.

Suddenly, her body hung in the air.

Just as Sophia thought she had hit the ground, wondering why she felt no pain, her body abruptly shot upward at a rapid speed.

"Ah!" Sophia felt utterly bewildered.

She then soared to a certain height before plummeting rapidly.

Afterward, she bounced upward again before plummeting rapidly once more.

Sophia's heart, much like her own body, was a rollercoaster of emotions. One moment, it soared. The next, it plunged.

The incident had merely occurred in a matter of moments.

After a few bounces, Sophia found herself swinging back and forth, suspended mid-air.

The startled soul that had seemingly flown out finally returned to the body, still shaken and unsettled. Her heart was pounding relentlessly.

She soon realized she probably wasn't dying that day.

That was probably a piece of good news that brought comfort.

It turned out that the person didn't intend to kill her but rather wanted her to experience the thrill of bungee jumping. The rope tied around her was a safety harness.

After swaying for a while, Sophia suddenly realized she was gradually ascending.

After I get pulled up, what is that person going to do to me? Sophia began to speculate quietly. Will he chop off my fingers or toes? Will he chop off one of my hands or feet? Will he break one of my legs? Will he just get someone to give me a beating? Suddenly, Sophia found herself not as scared as before.

She had already faced death itself, so there was nothing left to fear.

Although it was a situation she was forced to confront, she was prepared.

She ascended for a while, and someone grabbed her by the shoulders and arms before pulling her up.

"Come on. Grab her shoulders."

"Pull her up a bit more."

A few voices reached Sophia's ears. She carefully distinguished them, recognizing all the accents as local. There was no trace of the foreigner who had pushed her.

"Be careful. Don't hurt her."

Suddenly, a familiar voice rang out.

Startled, Sophia asked, "Zephyr? Is that you?"

After she yelled for such a long time and with such intensity, her voice had become slightly hoarse.

"It's me." Zephyr was somewhat thrilled when he heard her voice. His voice slightly trembled when he said, "S-Sophia, are you okay?"

With the support of those around her, Sophia managed to steady herself on the ground. She hesitated before saying, "I-I'm okay..."

Her heart was still pounding rapidly, a sensation akin to having survived a catastrophe.

Zephyr immediately removed the black cloth that was covering her eyes.

The sunlight was blindingly bright, so Sophia couldn't keep her eyes open and had to squint.

Zephyr's face was etched with worry as he stood in front of her. "Besides bungee jumping, did he hurt you in any other way?" "No."

"That's good, then." Zephyr sighed in relief upon hearing the news. "I'm glad you're okay."

Sophia looked around, realizing she was on a bungee jumping platform. Nearby, a staff member was unfastening the harness from her body.

She twitched her lips, asking curiously, "Didn't you guys notice that I was brought up here unconscious, not willingly for bungee jumping?"

The staff member tugged at thenoveldrama

corner of his mouth. "Miss, I apologize, but our park doesn't open until half past nine. When I arrived, ↓ noticed that the lock on the jump platform had been tampered with. I then came up and found you here... Don't worry. We've already reported the incident of someone sneaking into our park to the police. We'll definitely improve our security measures to prevent such incidents from happening again."

Sophia didn't know what to say in response. Fine, then. I don't think there's much the police can do.

After freeing Sophia from the harness, the staff member said, "Miss, you may leave now. If there's anything else, we will contact Mr. Yankovich." "All right."

Zephyr steadied Sophia and said, "Let's go."

Sophia nodded. Just as she took a step forward, her leg gave out, nearly causing her to fall to the ground.

With swift action, Zephyr steadied her, immediately scooping her up in his arms. "Be careful. I'll carry you down," he said.

"Okay." Sophia wrapped her arms around Zephyr's neck, her wrists reddened from the tight grip.

"Sophia."

"Hmm?"

"Were you scared when you were pushed down?"

"I was."

"However, how come you're so calm right now?"

Her condition was nothing like the last time at the flour mill.

Zephyr was somewhat concerned, wondering if she had been so frightened that it led to some psychological issues.

"Are you forcing yourself to keep calm?"

Sophia's composure shattered in an

instant. Her features crumpled together, her expression fierce and

twisted in frustration. She gritted her teeth and yelled, "Ah! I'm so infuriated! Zephyr, my legs are like jelly right now. I thought I was a goner! D*mn! When I fell, I felt like my soul had left my body, I didn't even have a chance to leave a last word! Now, my heart is beating so fast. Feel it..."

Her tender heart had been dealt a significant blow.

"I thought you were scared out of your wits. It's okay now. Let's get you home and get some rest."

"How did you know I was here?"

"Someone called me," Zephyr answered, his face a complex mix of emotions.

He was in the middle of work when he suddenly received a call from Avril. Initially, he thought there was an issue with Bjorn, but to his surprise, Avril only gave him an address and asked him to pick up Sophia.

He didn't have time to ask anything. He just went there straight away.

Before Sophia was pushed, she recalled the man saying, "Why did you have to offend my sister? She's still suffering in the detention center, while you're out here living carefree."

She thought that man was undoubtedly Isla's brother.

Sophia was exasperated, and she roared, "Zephyr, the guy who kidnapped me was Isla's brother. You told me yesterday that he was a nice guy? My foot! I knew he wasn't a good person. You should keep your distance from him in the future. He's such a hypocrite! He's just like Isla, birds of a feather!"

Zephyr paused for a moment before asking, "How did you know that the person who brought you here was Isla's brother?"

Sophia gave him a quick glance, scoffing. "He had a foreign accent. Moreover, he himself admitted it. He said Isla was his sister and he was out for revenge on her behalf."

Zephyr was stunned. I've been framed! That despicable old man!

"Do you really think a villain would willingly reveal their identity? His actions were solely aimed at making you suspect Isla's brother. It could very well be someone else's doing!" Zephyr analytically reasoned.

"Who else but him would do such a thing? Even if he didn't reveal his identity, I could still figure it out." Sophia shot him a sidelong glance before adding, "Say another word in his defense, and the wedding's off."

Those words caught Zephyr off guard. "All right, then."

Sophia let out a cold, mocking laugh.

"Don't look so reluctant. These days, people can be quite deceptive. They act like they're your best friend to your face, but behind your back, they wouldn't hesitate to betray you. Do you know what's the worst part? You'd be none the wiser, even helping them count the money they made off you."

Zephyr smiled and responded, "All right... All right. I'll remember your words, Ms. Tortell."

"That's more like it."
