Chapter 677
He never thought a single sentence from her would cause him to fall into restless panic.
“Are you feeling better?” asked Serenity. She wasn’t bothered by how tightly he squeezed her. All she was concerned with was
his abnormal behavior.
Thankfully, his trembling body gradually calmed down. At the very least, he wasn’t shaking as profusely as before.
“I’m feeling slightly better.” mummured Jackon as he remained clinging to her.
For him to descend into this state because of her, it turned out she had more influence on him than he imagined. Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
It was only after a while did his trembling come to a stop. As he released her from his arms, he glanced at her and asked, “It must’ve hurt, didn’t it?”
“It’s fine, it didn’t hurt at all. My tolerance for pain is pretty high,” replied Serenity. After all, this pain was nothing compared to the hell that she had been through while serving her sentence.
As if he was reminded of something unpleasant, his gaze darkened. “Alright. I’m fine now, so don’t worry about me.”
“Right, what on earth happened just now?” asked Serenity anxiously. If she didn’t get to the bottom of this, she wouldn’t be able to sleep that night.
“It was probably..” Jackson paused mid–sentence. “I had a terrible nightmare, that’s why I was shakding so badly.”
Serenity’s eyes were wide open with disbelief. So, like her, he was having a nightmare as well? Still, she was surprised to find out that he was capable of reacting so strongly to nightmares
“Was it really scary?” she asked out of curiosity.
“I think so.”
“I think so?“.
“I forgot about the dream after waking up. The only thing I remember is the deep fear all over my body.”
For Jackson, hearing her call out to “Luke” was a terrible nightmare in itself.
Did she dream of Lucas? Why did he appear in her dream? Did that mean she was still in love with that man?
Even though he had tried his best to stop them from recognizing each other, even with Lynette acting as her substitute, it was still far from enough to sever the string of fate that tied them together!
“Don’t worry about me. It’s just 2 am., so you should go back to sleep,” urged Jackson.
“Then what about you? Aren’t you going to sleep?” asked Serenity with a worried voice.
“What’s the point? I won’t be able to fall asleep anyway.”
Jackson was about to get out of bed when he felt her tug his arm. Slightly surprised, Jackson was guided back into bed where she rested against his body. Then, she began patting his body as if coaxing a child to sleep.
“Why don’t we try this? Maybe you’ll be able to fall asleep,” she suggested.
Jackson was caught entirely by surprise. “So, you’re treating me like a kid now?”
“I’ve seen kids fall asleep really fast when you pat them like this. There’s no harm in trying, right? Who knows, maybe you’ll. be knocked out before you know it. Why don’t you try shutting your eyes?”
After a brief pause, Jackson followed her instruction and closed his eyelids.
