Chapter 6 by Lorelei Thunder
“What? A presidential suite that costs over ten thousand dollars a day? How dare that son of a bitch spend so lavishly? He doesn’t see an issue with it because he’s spending out of somebody else’s pocket!
“Seems like he’s ripped off quite a fortune from your sister!”
Trudy was furious.
“Exactly! I’ve never even stayed in a presidential suite before!” Brutus huffed.
The two then got up and hurried over to the hotel in a rage.
Back in the suite, Woody opened up his canvas bag. There were over a dozen top-tier black cards from various banks.
When the rich and powerful came to him for medical help, they had to give him half of their assets as payment. Woody only kept a tenth of what he received for himself, and and he donated the rest to charity. Even so, he managed to save up a sizable amount for himself.
All Pamela needed to do was say it, and he could give her an extravagant life fit for royalty. There was such an easy path laid out ahead of her, but she insisted on taking the hard way.
Next, he pulled out a deerskin needle bag. That was the only thing his mentor had left him with, and it was an invaluable item to him. Ever since he’d inherited the mantle, his mentor had gone into hiding and never appeared again.
All of a sudden, there was an urgent banging on the door. Assuming that it was Helen, Woody got up to open the door.
“Mom, Brutus, why are you guys here?” Woody was caught off guard.
When Trudy heard him addressing her as such, a look of hatred flashed past her already furious expression.
“What? Are we not allowed to be here? Do you think you’re all that just because you used my sister’s money to stay in a presidential suite?”
Brutus pushed Woody aside roughly before he and Trudy pompously made their way into the suite and took a seat on the couch.
Trudy’s expression was dark. “I know about you and Pamela.”
Woody nodded. “We’re divorced.”
Trudy scoffed contemptuously. “At least you know what’s the right thing to do, you rascal! It’s entirely my daughter’s bad luck to have met a scumbag like you!
“You wasted four years of her life! Had it not been for you, she’d have married a rich man much earlier on! How dare you take her money, you heartless bastard? Have you no conscience?”
Woody was astounded. He thought, “Did she just call me a scumbag? Had I not stood out for Brutus back then, the York family would have fallen apart! He wouldn’t even be able to dream of being released without at least eight to ten years of imprisonment!”
“Mom, why are you wasting time talking to him?”
Brutus pointed a finger at Woody and commanded, “I can turn a blind eye to the rest, Henderson, but you must return us the money!”
“What money?” Woody had no idea what he was going on about.
Brutus shot him a menacing glare. “Cut the damn act! Don’t think that I don’t know about the house, the car, and the three million dollars that you ripped off my sister! All of those belong to the York family!”
Woody denied his allegations. “I took none of what you mentioned.”
“Rubbish! Nobody will refuse money! Do I look like a three-year-old child to you? How can you possibly afford to stay here if you didn’t take the fucking money?” Trudy began cursing away like a shrew.
Woody had initially thought that it was just Pamela who had changed. While he didn’t expect the rest of the York family to be eternally grateful to him for treating them well in the past, they should at least have consideration for what he’d done for them.
Although Pamela’s family couldn’t change her firm decision to have a divorce, they could at least put in some good words for him. That would be more than enough to make Woody feel better.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
But now, it seemed like the entire family were ingrates!
Woody couldn’t be bothered to waste more words on them. “Give Pamela a call and ask her. My stay here has absolutely nothing to do with her. As for the both of you, you may leave now.”
The fact that Woody was polite enough to send them out verbally showed just how much of a cultured man he was. It also proved that he was working hard on controlling his emotions.
“Do you think that we’d believe you? Stop dreaming! Hand us the property deed, the car keys, and all the money. And I mean everything! If you don’t, I promise you’ll be sorry!” Trudy threatened viciously.
Clearly running out of patience, Brutus made his move.
“If this damn ex-convict won’t cooperate, I’ll just have to take things into my own hands!”
Then, picking Woody’s canvas bag off the table, he turned it upside down and shook out its contents.
