Chapter 164
Chapter 164
Frustrated, Trevor angrily jerked his necktie as he knew why Emma had blocked his number. I bet it was all because of the text message I sent her earlier. Is it just me, or is she getting crankier and crankier? I went through a lot of trouble just to get her contact, and now that she's blocked, everything is back to square one.
At that moment, he realized the only way to reach Emma was to see her in person because there was no other way he could contact her. After taking a deep breath, he placed his palms on his waist and asked his assistant. "If you're in love with a man, would you call him 'Mr. Zurich' when you're with him? That sounds a little too formal, doesn't that?"
"I would." Cerys kept her head down slightly and answered Trevor's question after a brief moment of contemplation. In fact, there was a man whom Cerys called 'Mr. Manson' every single day inside her heart.
Trevor was rendered speechless because he started to doubt his judgment after hearing Cerys' answer, although his intuition was telling him that Emma was not dating Wesley. He then gave Cerys a doubtful look, wondering if it could be true that Emma had fallen for Wesley. Later that night, Trevor invited Zachary to join him for dinner, along with Kaleb, who appeared to be interested in it when he saw the message in the group chat. As the three men were having their meal, Kaleb, who usually tended to stay off alcohol, suddenly poured some red wine into his empty glass.
Zachary jokingly asked, "What's wrong? Did you just have a break-up?"
Annoyed, Kaleb replied, "Nonsense. I'm not even dating anyone in the first place. Instead, I just needed
a break after all the overwhelming workload that has been suffocating me recently." The man explained himself.
"How are things between you and Dr. Spencer?" Zachary tried to pull his leg hilariously.
Speechless, Kaleb answered, "What do you expect between us? We have had nothing to do with each other since a very long time ago."
"I see." Zachary casually replied and added, "Well, if things are not the way they used to be between the two of you, I guess I'm going to woo her." When Kaleb heard that, he choked on his wine, whereupon Zachary gave him a piece of tissue paper and complained to him unhappily. "Why are you overreacting? I've always been the kind of guy who's after pretty ladies. It's not like you fellas don't know me at all."
Kaleb sipped some water and calmed himself down, glaring at Zachary irritably. "Weren't you going to get married?"
Zachary continued to react in a casual manner. "Nah, I turned it down because I didn't think it was going to be fun, anyway."
"Wait, what?! How could you just turn down a marriage like it's a game or something?" Kaleb stared at his friend.
Zachary responded in an unconcerned manner, "Well, I don't have feelings for them, so why should I sacrifice my marriage just to make them happy? I could leave the Manson Family if that's what it takes to put a smile on their face."
In fact, he only returned to the Manson Family when he came of age and the fact that his mother was not the matriarch of the house simply just added to his indifference toward the family. After all, he knew he was only summoned back by the Manson Family because the current matriarch struggled to bear a son for them. Otherwise, there was no way he could return to the family because he was his father's illegitimate son. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
As soon as he finished his words, Zachary shifted his gaze to Trevor, who was sitting beside him, and said, "You know what? I like Cerys pretty much, actually, but our friend, Trevor, just won't let me hit on her."
Nevertheless, Trevor only gave Zachary a glacial look in response. In fact, the reason he refused to let Zachary get close to Cerys was not that he didn't want Zachary to hit on her, but because he was trying to protect his assistant from the man.
Moments later, Zachary turned his attention back to Kaleb and asked, "I bet you're not going to get in our way like Trevor does, right?"
Kaleb replied in a serious manner, "As the future heir of Jonestown Hospital, I'd like to warn you not to mess with the doctors in our hospital." Although he was next in line to own and run Jonestown Hospital, he went the extra mile to study in the medical field because of his keen passion. For that, he started from the bottom by working in the lab as a houseman after his graduation.
Amused by Kaleb's words, Zachary said, "Well, if you don't want me to woo Dr. Spencer, just say the word. You didn't have to beat around the bush." As Kaleb was about to refute him, Zachary went on to say, "If you have a crush on her, you should really do something about it."
Kaleb was rendered tongue-tied by Zachary's words because Yvette was the last person he would ever fall in love with. In fact, the reason he was trying to keep Zachary from wooing Yvette was that he didn't want the lady to con his friend just to sleep with him. At the thought of that, Kaleb felt a strong urge to get physical with the lady, gritting his teeth in anger.
Zachary soon lit up a cigarette for himself and peeked at Trevor, who also happened to be smoking as well. "What's gnawing at you? You look moody." Deep down, he felt as if he was a relationship expert, thinking Trevor was about to consult his opinion not long after his 'consultation' with Kaleb.
"What do I do now that my contact has been blocked?" Trevor puffed on his cigarette and asked.
Zachary was speechless when he heard Trevor's question. He then shrugged his shoulders, asking in disbelief, "Didn't you just come back with her from Kingsford? I thought things would have improved between you both since you were alone with her, but instead, your number got blocked?" If Zachary had been in Trevor's place, he would have directly made his approach to doing what he thought was necessary.
Thus, when he learned that Trevor's number had been blocked, he couldn't help but feel utterly speechless by the silly mistake his friend had made.
As he was already in a bad mood, Trevor glared at Zachary impatiently when he heard the latter's provocative remark. In the meantime, Zachary seemingly sensed Trevor's unhappiness and decided to ask, "Alright. Alright, what did you do or say to her?"
Trevor puffed on his cigarette and answered, "I forced a kiss on her."
"That's all?" Zachary was speechlessly annoyed. "Didn't you two sleep together?"
After hearing Zachary's response, Trevor couldn't help but think that his friend didn't understand his situation at all. After all, he was barely on talking terms with Emma and was still struggling to find the courage to face her again after he forcibly kissed her against her will. Therefore, if he had forced himself upon her, she would have probably disappeared from his life completely. At the thought of that, he glared at Zachary and asked, "Are you trying to help me? Because it seems to me you're trying to make things worse here."
Zachary sat straight and deadpanned, "Oops, I'm sorry. I forgot you were not the same man you used to be, Trevor. You lost your charm, which is why you're not the man whom Emma wants to sleep with."
Trevor grunted. "I should book you a flight tomorrow and send you to Kingsford."
Confused about where Trevor was going with his point, Zachary asked, "Why would you send me to Kingsford? It's not like I have to take care of some business there."
Trevor responded with a chuckle and said, "You have the talent to be a stand-up comedian because you won't stop talking. It'd be a pity to see it go to waste, so I'm trying to help you put it to good use."
Annoyed by Trevor's tease, Zachary was irritated by how the former was able to come back with a witty reply. He then decided to ignore Trevor and turned his attention to his cell phone instead. However, the moment he started browsing the internet, he was surprised by the news that popped out on his phone screen. "What the…"
Drawn by Zachary's exclamation, Trevor and Kaleb turned their attention to him just as he showed his phone to Trevor. "Wesley's mysterious girlfriend visited his house with his favorite little kitties." In the meantime, Trevor's face darkened when he saw the news. He then grabbed Zachary's phone to take a
closer look at the news, whereupon he was able to quickly recognize Emma with her modest-looking outfit.
It was shown that Emma was holding a pet air case in her hand with a cap on her head as she entered Wesley's house without seemingly leaving the place, even until the end of the footage. Meanwhile, the cat was a pet that Wesley had kept for many years, and many of his fans were able to recognize it, as well as the pet air case that was custom made. Besides, the case was in the same color as his fans club, with a picture of a cat printed on it.
