Chapter 55 Waiting Is the most Torturous
In a moment, the red light in the operating room lit up. The nurses were very nervous. He grabbed a
nurse, but that nurse did not disclose any information about the operation.
Antonio was anxious to pace back and forth outside the door, but it failed to solve the anxiety. After a
while, the police arrived. They asked Antonio about the gangsters.
Antonio took a deep breath, not to think about Adelaide’s operation. He recalled what happened today,
"We came to the village today! I was worried she would get hurt, so I booked the whole place. It didn't
take long before I sensed someone was there, and by the time we were ready to go out, there were ten
of them walking out."
As the police recorded his words, he nodded and glanced at another police next to him. "Do you know
those who shot?"
Antonio shook his head, "No, they said they were hired by someone. I am a businessman, offended
countless people. They called me Mr. Antonio, I hope you start investigation from the businessman
around me!"
The policeman nodded again. He looked at the transcript in his hand and said, "We recorded a
statement at the scene saying you hit a man. Was it because he wanted revenge?
Antonio frowned and became impatient. Seeing his perfunctory, the police repeated his question.
Antonio got thoroughly angry. Pointing at the door of the operating room, he shouted at the two police
"My wife is now lying in the operating room. Don’t you know how to investigate the case? I said there
were ten of them, and they called me Mr. Antonio. Obviously they know me! Why did you ask that?"
The two police were interns and were at a loss for a time by being shouted.
Antonio went to the operating room door and continued to wait.
"Moss, shall we wait?" The police could not help but tremble, he felt that this man was terrible than their
boss.
The policeman had solid muscles in his arms. However, under the majesty of Antonio, he was afraid.
He nodded and whispered in his ear, "Let's go!"
The police’s disorderly footsteps disappeared in the corridor.
"Wipe the sweat!”
The surgeon was a man in his thirties. Wearing a mask and a hood, he kept dripping sweat, and even
the tip of his nose had a lot of sweat. The nurse wiped his sweat.
He took a deep breath. Under the light of the operating lamp, the bullet from Adelaide’s shoulder was
visible. Fortunately, it did not penetrate the bone, but only hurt the flesh.
The blood had been cleaned. He raised his hand to the nurse next to him and said, "Tweezers! Knife!"
His bent down to take out the bullet!
Due to anesthesia, Adelaide suffered less in the process of surgery. After the doctor took out the bullet,
he put it onto the tray.
"Cotton, bandage, quick!"
The nurse quickly brought him what he needed. He carefully treated the wound for Adelaide and put
bandages on it. The sweat on his forehead finally stopped. Adelaide’s breathing, heartbeat, blood
pressure and pulse became all normal and he breathed a faint sigh of relief.
Fortunately, the hospital just got some fresh blood today, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to save
her, no matter how much skill he had.
"All right, push her over to ICU." He seemed to have done a very laborious thing, and the words at the
moment were weak.
The surgeon took off his rubber gloves and washed his hands with disinfectant.
Then he followed the nurse out.
When Antonio saw the doctor, he quickly ran to him and asked nervously, "Doctor, how is Adelaide?
Why isn't she awake?"
The doctor patted him on the shoulder, "She is all right, she had anesthetic and surgery efficacy has
not passed now. It was not deep, but she'd be in the hospital the next 24 hours. If she can pass
through, she will wake up, so you remember, you can't take a nap but pay close attention to the
patient's movement. If there is bleeding or other issues, she needs surgery again."
After a long hour of waiting, he finally saw Adelaide come out, but the doctor's words gave him shock. If
she did not wake up in twenty-four hours, it meant there was still danger.
He sat on the ground like mud. The doctor again comforted him, and told him to pay attention to the
patient before leaving.
Adelaide's face was pale with her eyes closed. Antonio was heartbroken for that. Knowing those police
could not find the gangster, he made a call to Koby.
Koby was guilty for knowing what had happened. He thought he had chosen a right place, so that they
were in danger. Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.
But Antonio did not think so. It was a temporary decision. He did not know where he would go, why
those people knew?
There was only one answer. He was being followed!
Antonio's face went blue. There were a few people dare to send a person to follow him and even kill
him. He narrowed his eyes and said, "Use your brain and keep an eye on Alvin. Don’t let him find out. I
won't go to the company these days, deal with the things by yourself!"
With that, he quickly hung up the phone and plodded toward the hospital room where Adelaide
was.
