SIN
Nolan’s knuckles were turning white as he gripped the steering wheel, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. The speedometer was creeping higher and higher, and Layla could feel the car straining beneath them. She wanted to tell him to slow down, but she was too afraid to speak. The sound of the engine was deafening, and the world outside the car seemed to blur by in a dizzying rush. Layla closed her eyes, trying to block out the fear that was threatening to overwhelm her.
“Please stop this, Nolan..” she managed to say. He was a Lycan, she was human, if they were to get into an accident, she would lose her life.
“Not another word from you Layla, I’ve warned you to start away from other men, but you wouldn’t just listen would you?” He scoffed. The fact that she agreed to take the punishment for Regan, angering him the most. He would teach her never to dare him again.
Layla’s heart sank as she realized that Nolan was truly angry. She’d never seen him like this before, and it scared her. She felt tears pricking at her eyes, but she knew she had to stay strong.
“I’m sorry,” she said, her voice barely a whisper.
“I just wanted to be happy. I didn’t mean to upset you.” Nolan glanced at her, his expression unreadable.
“You should have thought of that before you went behind my back,” he said, his voice cold.
“But why are you getting so worked up?” She shrugged her shoulders in confusion.
“You were the one who left me alone and went to some corner. I was only having fun” she pointed out. He was being delusional out of nothing.
Nolan’s grip on the steering wheel tightened, his knuckles turning white.
“You call that fun?” he asked, his voice full of venom.
“Going off with other men, flirting and laughing with them?” Layla could see that he was furious, and she began to regret ever coming to the club.
“I’m sorry,” she apologized again, her voice trembling.
“I didn’t mean to hurt you. I just wanted to feel something other than the pain of being with you.”
She uttered, gripping the cloth she wore tight.
“pain of being with me..” he chuckled. So being with him was a pain to her.
“You’ll suffer for his sins Layla..” he swore, gritting his teeth.
Layla’s stomach clenched at his words. She had no idea what he meant, but she could tell that he was serious.
“What do you mean?” she asked, her voice barely a whisper. Nolan turned to look at her, his eyes cold and hard.
“You’ll see,” he said, his voice low and threatening.
“Soon enough, you’ll understand.” Layla wanted to ask him more, but something in his expression stopped her. She felt a sense of dread settle over her, like a heavy weight pressing down on her chest.
“But why are you getting all worked up? You said you didn’t care about me. ” She protested.
“I don’t..” he snapped and Layla felt her heart sink. If he didn’t then why all of this?
Layla felt like she’d been punched in the gut. She’d known that Nolan didn’t return her feelings, but hearing him say it out loud was like a knife to the heart. She tried to keep her expression neutral, but she could feel her eyes starting to fill with tears.Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“You don’t need to be so cruel,” she said, her voice shaking.
“I know that you don’t love me, but you don’t have to rub it in my face.”
“Then what do you want me to do? That’s what you deserve Layla..” he fired at her with a passive look on his face.
Nolan’s refusal to apologize only served to make Layla feel worse. She felt like a fool for thinking that he might actually care about her.
She felt like a fool for falling for him in the first place. She knew that she should have seen this coming, but she had let herself hope. And now, she was paying the price. She swallowed hard, trying to keep her emotions in check. But it was too much, and a single tear escaped, rolling down her cheek.
“Nolan, what’s the meaning behind all of this?”
“Please stop the car I’ll leave..” she requested but he refused and he kept on driving. There was no way he was going to let her go.
“You’re not going anywhere,” Nolan said, his voice hard. Layla felt a knot of fear in her stomach, but she tried to remain calm.
“Nolan, please,” she said, trying to keep her voice steady.
“I’m not trying to run away from you. I just want to talk about what’s going on.”
“Nolan, please listen to me. I’m sorry, okay. And there’s no point in getting angry. please…” She begged. Nolan had lost it and she was scared of what he would do to her. He was nothing less than a beast when he was angry
“Nolan, please,” Layla said again, her voice cracking.
“I know I’ve done something wrong, but I promise I’ll make it up to you. Please just listen to me.” But Nolan didn’t seem to be listening.
His hands were clenched on the steering wheel, and his knuckles were white. He was driving faster and faster, and Layla was beginning to feel nauseous. She closed her eyes and tried to steady her breathing, but it was no use.
“Please Nolan slow down..” she held his hand hoping he would stop, but what he did next shocked the living hell out of her.
He snapped out her hold as he pointed his fingers venomously at her.
“Don’t you dare lay your hands on me!” His voice thundered.
When they arrived home, Nolan carried Layla out of the car as he placed her on his shoulders. She struggled with him.
Layla squirmed and tried to get out of his grip, but he held her firmly in place.
“Stop struggling,” he said, his voice still cold.
“You’re only making this harder on yourself.” Layla bit her lip, trying to control her fear. She didn’t want to make him any angrier, but she didn’t know what else to do. She just wanted to leave and be left alone, she wanted to be out of this hellhole.
