Rebirth In Divorce: My New Mr. Perfect

Rebirth 114

Zoe watched in shock as Helen fled in panic. Her pupils shrank as if she had suddenly remembered something, and she quickly ran off as well

Helen didn't even have time to pack her school bag, let alone ask for leave. She dashed out of the school gate, hailed a cab, and headed straight home. Selena was surprised to see her back and asked curiously, "Helen, don't you have classes this afternoon? Why are you back? I've already invited Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Anderson to come over to play cards later."

Helen looked at Selena in a panic. "Mom! What should I do? The police are coming to arrest me!" "What are you talking about? Why would the police arrest you? Selena was completely puzzled.

But when she saw the panic on her daughter's face, she immediately understood. "What did you do?" "Mom! It's that woman! It must be that bitch! She called the police again!" Helen's voice trembled.

Selena quickly calmed her daughter down, asking repeatedly until Helen finally stammered out, "Mom! Remember that teacher from our school who was caught stealing a thesis and even published it online? That teacher got fired, and yesterday she kidnapped Yasmine and almost killed her!"

"What does that have to do with you? Even if it happened, it's the teacher who should be held accountable, Selena said. Helen was about to cry. "Mom! Don't you get it? I stole Yasmine's thesis and gave it to the teacher. And I told her to kidnap Yasmine, but I did it purely out of jealousy. Why does Yonas always side with her every single time?"

Tears streamed down her face. "Mom, what should I do? The police have already gone to the school. They'll be here any minute to find me."

Selena forced herself to stay calm and thought for a long time. "You need to get your passport and visa right now and leave the country immediately. Your uncle is in Morvica. He can take care of you."

Without even hearing Selena's words clearly, Helen rushed to her room to find her passport and visa. This visa had been issued just recently, as she was planning to travel with her friends. She never expected it would come in handy now.

She hurried downstairs with a suitcase. Selena had already instructed the driver to pull the car out front. She got in, and the car sped off towards the airport.

Selena stared blankly at the car disappearing down the main road. She collapsed onto the sofa as if all her strength had left her. Before she could gather her thoughts, the phone rang urgently. It was Xavier. She took a deep breath and answered, "Xavier, why are you calling?"

The voice on the other end was stern and urgent. "Has Helen come home?"

Selena forced a laugh. "No, isn't she supposed to be in class?"

"Mom, are you sure Helen hasn't come home? Where are you right now?" Xavier asked

"She... she really hasn't come home. I'm at home right now, and even invited a couple of friends over for cards," Selena said, struggling to keep her voice steady.

"She's in big trouble this time. She could be sent to jail," Xavier said.

Selena's temples throbbed. "Xavier, tell me, what exactly happened?

"She stole a thesis and coerced a teacher into kidnapping Yasmine. Yasmine is in the hospital now, and the teacher has turned herself into the police. Everyone is looking for Helen, Xavier said.

Then... what about Helen..." Selena broke out in a cold sweat.

Xavier sighed. "Mom, if she can really escape... Anyway, I have to hang up now."

After hanging up. Xavier pinched his forehead. Judging from Selena's reaction, Helen had definitely been home and was probably heading to the airport by now. She was his sister, and of course, he didn't want anything to happen to her.

On the provincial highway, a black Maybach sped like lightning ignoring speed limits and speed cameras. The driver pressed down hard on the accelerator, feeling the steering wheel almost slipping out of control. But Helen only felt that it wasn't fast enough. As soon as she got in the car, she immediately booked a flight for half an hour later. As long as she made it to the airport in time, she could safely escape to Morvica.

But just as she was about to see the airport clearly, a police motorcycle appeared beside the car, with the siren blaring through the loudspeaker. "Stop the car! Stop the car!"

"Don't stop!" Helen screamed. The driver, too afraid to disobey, slammed on the accelerator even harder, and the car surged forward once again.

But before she could catch her breath, several police motorcycles surged out from both sides, and a few police cars followed closely behind, their sirens blaring across the entire highway. Helen's heart raced wildly as she stared out the window in terror.

The driver was starting to panic. "What should we do, Miss?"

"What should we do? Keep going! Speed up!" Her eyes were bloodshot, and she had completely lost all sense of reason.

A police motorcycle moved in front of the Maybach, trying to force it to stop. "Sh

the car! Stop the car..." the officers

A police car closed in on the Maybach, and the driver no longer dared to accelerate. "Miss, we can't speed up anymore. Helen pounded on the seat in frustration, her eyes filled with despair as she realized the car was completely surrounded. She slumped down as if all the energy had drained out of her. "Stop the car, she finally muttered.

The Maybach slowly pulled over to the side of the road, and the police cars closed in immediately. "Get out!"

With her eyes slightly red, Helen slowly placed her hand on the door handle and opened the door. She knew that the moment she stepped out, everything would be over.

At the Soucrity Hospital, Yasmine was receiving an IV drip when Yonas came in after answering a phone call. "They've caught Helen. She must have seen the police when they arrived at the school. They caught her just as she was about to head to the airport." Yasmine sneered. This was exactly Helen's style-always running away when things got tough. She glanced up at the IV bottle, which was almost empty. "My fever has gone down. I'll leave the hospital later

"No way," Yonas replied, frowning slightly. He recalled what happened yesterday. She went to the abandoned courtyard right after recovering from the fever but ended up having the fever flare up again.

I'm really fine now, Yasmine insisted on leaving

Yonas's face turned stern: "Fine, then I'll stay at your place tonight"

"No need. It's not convenient," Yasmine started.

"Are you scared? There are so many rumors about us. I'm afraid it's a little late now." Yonas raised an eyebrow.

After the IV finished, Yasmine, still feeling unwell, forced herself to get out of the car and return to the apartment building. Even though Yonas had brought her acoat, she still felt chilled. The cold wind bit at her, making her pull her clothes tighter. She looked back at Yonas. He sat in the car, gazing at her tenderly. The car lights were dinmed, and he was positioned against the light.

The car window rolled down, and she asked, "Aren't you coming up with me?" She found herself unexpectedly hoping he would, her cheeks flushing.

Yonas chuckled softly and got out of the car. "You don't want me to leave?" he teased.

Embarrassed and angry, Yasmine turned and walked away. "Come if you want, I don't care." She was annoyed at herself for her reaction. She couldn't understand why she had become so sentimental after being sick. The way she had acted toward Yonas just now, almost like a girl in love being coy and affectionate with her boyfriend. That's not me she thought.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
