Chapter 118 Did The Discussion Not Go Smoothly
Eileen sat in the lounge, holding a glass of hot water in her hands. She asked Gavin, “What did Eric do about Hector’s situation?”
Gavin paused at the door upon hearing her voice behind him. “Ms. Eileen, it’s better for you not to know, Mr. Snow has his own way of handling things. Rest assured that everything will be taken care of.”
After some time, a sudden commotion erupted at the door.
It seemed that someone had arrived.
Eileen wanted to step out and see, but she decided against it to avoid causing more trouble.
Suddenly, the door to the lounge swung open.
Seeing the person before her, she was so shocked that she couldn’t find words. Jasper, dressed in a smoky grey suit and exuding an air of nobility, stood right in front of her.
“Why are you here?” she stammered.
Richard, who followed behind him, explained, “Smith Corporation is the school’s largest investor, and we rushed over as soon as we heard that something had happened. However, the main reason is you, Ms. Eileen.”
“Richard, you talk too much,” Jasper scolded.
“My apologies, Mr. Smith.”
Eileen looked away, her uneasy eyes falling on him. Her hands nervously clutched the hem of her skirt. “I’m sorry for troubling you. Eric will handle this matter well. It won’t cause any trouble for the school.””
“Eileen, there’s no need for such formality between us. Your concerns have become mine. Is your hand hurt? Let me have a look.”
Jasper extended his hand, but Eileen hid hers behind her back. “I’m fine. It’s much better
now.”
“Ms. Eileen, you should let Mr. Smith take a look. He has been exceedingly worried about you these past few days,” Richard interjected.
To an outsider, those meaningful words seemed to suggest an unspeakable relationship between the two. Fortunately, there was no one else there.
Eileen slowly extended her hand.
In the next moment, Jasper pulled her over to sit down. Seeing that, Richard tactfully stepped out and closed the door behind him.
Eileen had always been sensitive to being alone in a room with a man. Her body stiffened slightly, and she felt uncomfortable.
“Eileen? Are you afraid of me?” Jasper noticed her expression. Every time they were alone together, she acted overly cautious, as if afraid he might harm her.
“No.”
It was her own issue.
After being driven out of her home in her previous life, she once tried to find a job to support herself. But unexpectedly, someone tricked her into a small hut and violated her. Fortunately, she managed to escape in the end.
However, the trauma remained, regardless of who the other person was.
Eileen quickly changed the subject, asking, “Why do you look so pale? Are you sick?”
Jasper’s lips curved slightly. “I just caught a cold. It’s nothing.”
“Remember to drink plenty of warm water, then. Oh, there’s some right here. Let me pour you a glass.” As Eileen spoke, she withdrew her hand, stood up, and walked over to the water dispenser to get a glass of water for him. “It might be a bit hot. Be careful.”
Jasper’s gaze remained fixed on her, never leaving her. The look in his eyes was intense, filled with longing and desire. Yet, he had to be cautious and maintain a distance between them.
“Okay.”
Jasper placed the water on the table before taking out an exquisite emerald bottle from his suit pocket. “Come here.” Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“What is this?” Eileen asked.
“Salve.”
Jasper moved closer to her. He knew she was vigilant, but he didn’t mind. In fact, he found it quite good.
From now on, I am all she needs.
“This is the salve I brought. It can help with your injury.” Jasper carefully unwrapped her
bandage, a pained expression crossing his face at the sight of the wound. “Does it still hurt?”
“It’s still bearable, only hurting a little bit,” Eileen answered truthfully.
“It might sting a bit at first. Just bear with it.”
Eileen nodded.
In truth, he was a very gentle person. He set aside his company affairs to help her with her troubles. Eileen was well aware of his status in Hulbury. His intervention wasn’t necessary for such a matter, but he still came.
The more he acted this way and the better he treated her, the more burdened she felt psychologically, as she couldn’t reciprocate his feelings.
Both of them were still young, and the future held many possibilities.
No one knew what the future would bring.
There were plenty of women who willingly offered themselves to Jasper. She certainly didn’t matter in the grand scheme of things.
If it was only because her actions back then pulled him back from the brink of hell and saved his life, then he had already repaid that debt of gratitude.
The birthday gift and everything he prepared for her were the biggest surprises she had ever received in both lifetimes.
From the beginning, Eileen had no intention of gaining anything from him.
Jasper was someone outside of her plans, and it was impossible for her to be with him.
He also had a deep obsession with her.
Even if he had great power and could rescue her from the clutches of the Swan family, she would still be confined in another prison.
She didn’t dare to stake her life on another
person again.
Admittedly, there might have been a moment when she was tempted.
“Feeling better?” The man gently held her fingertips and brought them close to his lips. The cool wind he blew on her wound provided soothing comfort.
With his fingertips outstretched, she saw the tattoo on the back of his hand clearly for the first time. It was somewhat similar to Elm’s, but it had a different design.
“Does this design have any symbolic meaning?” Eileen asked.
Jasper replied calmly. “There’s no symbolic meaning. It was just a spur-of-the-moment thing.”
Despite these words, Eileen didn’t feel that it was a spontaneous decision as he claimed. Perhaps there was a story behind it.
However, she didn’t inquire further.
In less than an hour, Fabian emerged from the meeting room.
He had personally handled the matter, as per Jasper’s request.
Nevertheless, his role was not significant. He finally grasped the true nature of the Swan family.
Eric appeared benign but was actually ruthless. Every word he spoke left no room for argument, cornering others.
The parents who came to cause trouble fell to their knees on the spot, but he remained completely unmoved.
An eighteen-year-old boy even fainted right then and there because of a few words spoken by him.
Indeed, it was as expected of the adopted son raised by Will.
Upon closer investigation, the actions of the Swan family had never been clean. Therefore, it was uncertain whether they would even make it home after leaving the school.
Richard rarely saw Fabian with such an expression. “Did the discussion not go smoothly?”
Fabian shook his head. “Everything went smoothly. Is Mr. Smith still inside?”
“Let’s wait a little longer! It’s rare for Mr. Smith to have the opportunity to meet Ms. Eileen.”
Gavin had no idea what had gotten into Eric that day.
They were just a few insignificant people, yet he had backed them into a corner.
Furthermore, the other party was just a child, so it was really too harsh.
If Hector were to join forces with Smith Corporation, he could forget about surviving in Hulbury in this lifetime.
