Chapter 80 Your Brother Will Feel Unhappy
“Look, I can’t sleep anymore since you arrived. Shall we have a chat for a bit?” Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
Eileen asked, “What does ‘shoot the breeze’ mean?”
Mary slapped her thigh. “Oh my, you don’t even know this! Let me explain. ‘Shoot the breeze means to have a conversation.”
Eileen nodded thoughtfully. “What would you like to talk about?”
Mary whispered, “When I went out earlier, I overheard something. Oh my, that scream was as intense as the rumors of secret affairs in our village. It was so thrilling. Mr. Swan, your father… he’s in great shape. I assure you, your father can still have children. You’ll have a little brother soon.”
Listening to Mary’s accent, which had a dialect from an unknown region, Eileen found it. quite intriguing.
Mary sounded bold and straightforward, seemingly unbothered. Yet, the things she spoke of…
Will had multiple relationships with quite a few women, but he would never abandon his own child. Even if there were any, he would make sure to handle it properly.
Once, a woman in her twenties came to the door, causing a commotion with a child in her
arms.
Eileen heard nothing about her after that. The whereabouts of that child were also unknown.
That had only happened once.
A desk lamp glowed on the table. The scent of burning charcoal filled the room. Mary’s snoring was loud, and the pain in Eileen’s arm from last night’s incident kept her awake.
She took a short nap on the narrow bed. When she woke up, the sky outside had brightened.
Eileen carefully got out of bed, making sure not to disturb Mary. Wrapped in a blanket, she quietly closed the door and stepped outside.
It had snowed all night, and a thick layer had already accumulated outside. The cotton slippers had also been dried since last night.
Slipping them onto her feet, she felt somewhat warm.
She sneaked out the back door, as they must not find out that she had returned last night.
The front door was wide open while the housekeepers were busy cleaning up
inside.
The housekeepers called out in unison, “Ms. Eileen.”
the mess
Eileen nodded, stepping into the foyer, where an unpleasant, musty smell immediately struck her.
Furrowing her brows at the smell, she quickly ascended the stairs.
She went to the bathroom and washed off the dirt from her body while avoiding her wounds. constantly rubbing the marks on her neck. When two men tried to assault her, Eric just stood by and watched, not lending a hand. Just because she went to an art exhibition with Jasper, he misunderstood, thinking she
wanted to rely on the Smith family to escape her current predicament. That was his way of teaching her a lesson.
If there really was something going on between her and Jasper, Eileen didn’t know what Eric would do.
Will he drug me and ruin my life again?
Eric would never give her a chance to escape. Even if wings grew from her back, he would pluck each feather out.
Eileen sank into the bathtub, her injured hand resting on the edge. Half of her face was submerged in the water, and it wasn’t until she was on the verge of suffocation that she slowly. emerged. She had escaped once, so she could escape a second time. She couldn’t just sit and wait for death to come.
With a splash, Eileen emerged from the bathtub, water dripping off her body. She reached for the bathrobe and put it on.
Firstly, she needed to have money in order to leave the Swan residence.
It was nearly six o’clock by the time she emerged from the bathroom.
In the end, she didn’t go back to sleep. Instead, she changed into her Petalburg High School uniform, put on a cashmere coat over it, wrapped a red scarf around her neck, and quickly descended the stairs with her backpack. Her injured hand prevented her from attending her training classes. Therefore, she decided to take a day off and go to school instead.
She was determined to get into a university, and not just any university, but to earn her place at the best university, Hulbury University, with her own abilities.
Even if I can’t go to Lumiose or change any of the outcomes, I don’t want to repeat the mistakes I made in my past life by giving up everything for a man.
Eileen mentioned she needed to go to the hospital but didn’t expect Alan to bring her to Serene Hospital.
“We’ve arrived, Ms. Eileen.”
“Okay.” Eileen got out of the car, registered at the reception, and headed to the emergency
TOOM.
The nurse unwrapped the bandage that Eileen had carefully wrapped and asked with at puzzled look, “Do you feel any discomfort? If we remove the stitches, there’s a risk of wound infection.”
Eileen answered, “The wound feels a bit itchy. I want to check if there is a reason for it, like if it’s starting to get infected.”
The nurse speculated, “It might be. Please bear with me since the gauze is sticking to the
flesh.”
A voice echoed from behind. “Eileen? What’s wrong? Are you hurt?*
Looking over her shoulder to glance at the newcomer, she saw Zachary, looking every bit the playboy scion that he was. His hands were tucked into the pockets of his Blake coat. Eileen felt uneasy about his gaze.
Since he’s in cahoots with Eric, he’s not a good person either.
Zachary pulled his hands out from his coat, taking the staple remover from the nurse. His smile was even more charming than a woman’s. “Leave this to me. You may go ahead with your other work.”
Overwhelmed by his charms, the nurse kept staring at his face. Blushing, she muttered something under her breath and then left the emergency room.
Zachary’s warm fingers pinched Eileen’s fair, slender fingers. Her nails were round and shiny. “Eileen, how could you be so careless? The wound is infected. Your brother would’ve been very worried if he was here.”
Eileen had never liked him in her previous life either. Not even a bit. He had a habit of making unwelcome advances toward her, a despicable trait he just couldn’t seem to shake off.
His thumb gently caressed the back of her hand like an animal in heat.
Eileen wanted to withdraw her hand but didn’t dare to move recklessly. He tended to her wound, but his movements were gentle.
Once everything was taken care of, a meaningful smile graced Zachary’s face. “A delicate hand like yours shouldn’t bear a scar. Eileen, remember to keep it away from water.”

O
After wrapping the bandage, Eileen quickly withdrew her hand, avoiding any further conversation with him.
“Thank you
for the reminder,” Eileen replied, annoyance evident in her voice.
Zachary chuckled as he squeezed some alcohol-based hand sanitizer and wiped his hands. He glanced down at her and laughed. “Someone should have informed you about the situation earlier. Have you discussed your illness with your family? If you decide to undergo surgery, there are risks involved. You shouldn’t keep it a secret from your family.”
It wasn’t surprising that he was aware of her illness. Eileen hurriedly walked away.
If she chose surgery, the only option would be to remove her uterus. Alternatively, she could spend money on treatment, but the process was extremely lengthy. There was a chance that it could develop into cancer, and the treatment might not be effective at all.
In this lifetime, I still won’t be able to become a mother. I won’t have my own child.
Eileen was well aware of Will’s traditional views. To him, women were merely vessels for childbirth. If Will had spent so much money raising a daughter, only to discover that she couldn’t have children, what would he do?
He would be even more heartless than Eric.
Trembling all over, Eileen left the hospital. A sense of helplessness engulfed her as she sat in the car.
