Reborn As The 56
Andrew walked through the door and tossed his briefcase onto the couch. He glanced around the messy living room, his anger flaring up. "Why are you all just standing there? Get over here and clean this up."
Upon hearing him, the servants, who had been standing by nervously, quickly stepped forward and began tidying up the chaotic room with swift movements.
"You two, come here and stand properly. Now, tell me, what's going on? Why were you fighting all of a sudden?" Andrew pulled off his tie, his expression dark as he stared at Corey and Felix. Corey let out a cold snort but didn't
say a word.
Felix, on the other hand, didn't hold back and started complaining immediately, "Andrew, you wouldn't believe how awful Corey is! He threw out Ellie's stuff, said he doesn't recognize her as his sister, and even claimed it's either him or Ellie in this house! Come on, Andrew. Don't you think Corey deserves a beating?"
Corey almost laughed at Felix's shamelessness. "Quit twisting things! I never said that."
Felix rolled up his sleeves, looking like he was about to explode again. "Oh yeah? Then do you dare say you didn't say Gloria's your only sister? And that you didn't throw out Ellie's stuff?"
"Yes. But..." Corey tried to explain but realized those were pretty much the words he had said.
He thought, 'But I didn't mean it that way. How did Felix manage to twist my words like that? Something about this feels off, but I can't quite figure out what.'
Seeing Corey hesitate, Felix felt like he had caught him red-handed and turned to add more fuel to the fire. "See, Andrew? Corey's admitting it! Hurry up and beat him!"
Corey panicked. "No. I didn't! It's Eleanor who bullied Gloria first, and I didn't really mean to disown Eleanor. I just wanted to teach her a small lesson. That's all."
Felix snapped, "You still dare to argue?"
As the tension between the two flared up again, Andrew, having pieced together the situation from their words, shouted coldly, "Enough!" His outburst instantly silenced both Corey and Felix, who were startled into submission.
Andrew glanced at the pile of things thrown out of the box nearby, and his face darkened immediately. Taking a deep breath, he looked at Corey, his tone leaving no room for negotiation. "Corey, apologize to Ellie!"
Corey's eyes widened in shock, and he didn't know how to react for a moment. "Why should I? She bullied Gloria!"
Andrew narrowed his eyes and glanced at Gloria, whose eyes were red from crying. His gaze was unreadable, dark, and intense. Gloria shrank back, either intimidated by his stare or perhaps sensing that her inner thoughts had been noticed. Andrew averted his gaze and looked at Corey, speaking in a low voice. "Did you see her getting bullied?"
Corey hesitated. "I..."
Truthfully, he hadn't seen Gloria being bullied. In fact, in the auditorium at Aloria High School, it was Eleanor who had been splashed with ink, not Gloria.
But Gloria had cried so pitifully, and Corey was sure she must've been wronged in some way. He concluded it was all because this new sister was too cunning, leaving them with no evidence to pin the blame on her.
Andrew could easily see through what Corey was thinking. Well, it made sense-Andrew was the first heir to Vanderbilt Group, poised to inherit the family business. Naturally, his temperament had become more composed and dignified. Plus, 1/3
with all the scheming he'd encountered in the business world, he had a knack for cutting straight to the truth.
Corey, on the other hand, wasn't much younger than Andrew, but he'd been pursuing the arts since childhood. The people he met were much simpler, and his heart was purer, which made him a bit more straightforward. Andrew narrowed his eyes and spoke harshly. "If you didn't see it happen, how could you blindly accuse your own sister? Corey, have you been so caught up in your art that you've forgotten what it means to be family?" Corey felt a wave of guilt after hearing Andrew's words, but he couldn't help but hold on to his doubts. "But Gloria was crying so much..."
Gloria froze, her eyes widening in fear as she saw Andrew's terrifying gaze shifting toward her. Panicking, she quickly waved her hands. "No, no, Corey misunderstood! I was crying because I failed my audition, not because of anything else." Corey's expression shifted as he turned to look at Gloria. "You weren't..."
He paused, thinking, 'Wait a minute. Gloria never mentioned anything about our new sister bullying her. She just cried in my arms, and I naturally assumed she'd been wronged here. So, did I really accuse my new sister unfairly?' Andrew gave Corey a stern look. "A
to Ellie."
Corey pressed his lips together, still feeling a bit reluctant. "I'm sorry."
Eleanor hadn't taken his offense to heart at all, but Felix, standing nearby, looked downright smug, his chin raised as if the apology had been directed at him instead.
Felix chimed in, "Move Ellie's things upstairs!"
At that point, Corey didn't dare to resist anymore. He obediently carried the boxes, mumbling, "Okay."
"Andrew, I'm going upstairs to take a shower," Eleanor said.
After being drenched in ink at the auditorium, she had washed off the worst of it, but she still felt uncomfortable all over. She needed a thorough scrub, inside and out, before she'd feel clean again.
Just as Eleanor was about to turn around, Andrew suddenly called out to her, "Ellie, wait a minute."
She stopped in her tracks and turned to look at Andrew. He pulled a necklace from his suit pocket and handed it to her. "I got this from a church. They say it's really effective. You're taking the University Admissions Testing soon, right? So I asked for it to help you ace the exam." Eleanor's eyes lit up, and she caressed the necklace, unable to put it down. It wasn't the first gift she had ever received, but it was the first time she had gotten something so thoughtful. She smiled, "Thank you. I love it."
Seeing how much she liked it, Andrew breathed a sigh of relief. "Glad you like it."
Then, he pulled out another necklace and handed it to Gloria, though his tone wasn't as soft as it had been with Eleanor. "Gloria, I got this one for you too."
Gloria looked up in surprise, barely holding back her tears of joy. "Thank you, Andrew!"
After seeing how attentive Andrew had been to Eleanor lately, Gloria had thought she wouldn't get a necklace this time. She hadn't expected him to think of her, too.
She wondered, 'Does this mean Andrew will start treating me better from now on?' With that thought, she couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement.
Eleanor saw this, and her chest tightened for a moment. She knew Andrew was doing the right thing-after all, with two sisters, it was only fair to treat them equally. But still, she couldn't shake the feeling of discomfort. Then again, she told
herself to let it go and that she shouldn't be that petty.
Just as she was about to head upstairs, the necklace in her hand was suddenly snatched away by a large hand.

He believed that his Ellie deserved nothing less than the world's only one-of-a-kind treasures.
At that moment, the frustration in Eleanor's heart melted away completely, replaced by a warm, fuzzy joy. So, this was what it felt like to be loved.
Without thinking, she threw herself into Andrew's arms. "Thank you. I really love it."
He patted Eleanor's head gently. "As long as you like it."
Felix, on the other hand, was green with envy. But fearing Andrew's authority, he didn't dare make a scene. All he could do was grumble, "You're this happy over a necklace? Just wait. I'll give you
