Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 490

This was the first time Greta and Cameron found themselves sleeping in separate rooms since they got married. It felt like the final nail in the coffin of their relationship.

Greta felt like a driftwood, floating aimlessly without a place to anchor. Her once vibrant life now seemed like a mirage, an illusion that had vanished.

Everything felt fake.

Only the endless struggles seemed real.

That night, sleep eluded Greta. The night was dark and windy, and the quiet of their villa was suddenly shattered by a low, rumbling sound. Greta sat up abruptly, as if in a trance, mumbling, "Has he gone to her?" Cameron, behind the wheel of the simple car they once used on their wedding day, sped through the empty streets. The cold, lonely night seemed to play tricks on him, as memories of marrying Nellie flooded his mind. On that day, Nellie had been a vision in her white wedding dress, sitting patiently, waiting for him. But he, frustrated because he hadn't married the woman he truly loved, drowned his disappointment in a drink or two. He didn't want to leave.

Especially with Greta's desperate attempts to stop the wedding-running away and even threatening to end it all. Cameron, drunk and frazzled, had rushed to calm her down. By the time he returned for the ceremony, the auspicious moment had passed.

The officiant, a fiery young woman, had spoken up for Nellie, "Sir, your bride is kind and beautiful. You should treat her well. With your behavior today, any other girl would have walked away. Your wife's understanding nature is a blessing, don't take her love for granted. If she ever realizes her own worth and moves on from you, you'll have no one to blame but yourself."

Cameron had shrugged it off back then, thinking Nellie was lucky to have him. He couldn't imagine a scenario where he'd need to win her back.

Driving without a destination, Cameron found himself retracing the path they took on their wedding day. The once young and reckless Cameron now felt the weight of time.

He remembered arriving at the bridal

suite, seeing the hurt and disappointment in Nellie's eyes. Still, she didn't blame him; instead, she voiced her worry, "Cameron, you had me scared sick. I'm just relieved you're okay."

What a naive girl.noveldrama

In that moment, Cameron felt a rare pang of guilt, and he had pulled her into his arms, carrying her to their wedding car.

During the ceremony, he had promised, "For richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health... I will never leave you."

Cameron never truly intended to leave her. He felt that since Nellie had donated a kidney to Greta, he owed her a lifetime of responsibility. Just responsibility.

He foolishly believed Nellie should be content with his care.

He thought he had forever to make it up to her.

But who could've guessed Nellie had

dreams bigger than he imaginede

Once she realized she'd been deceived, she orchestrated her escape without hesitation.

And in his misguided effort to console Greta, Cameron had unwittingly helped Nellie leave sending her abroad, thinking she'd eventually return to him.

But that was the moment he truly lost her.

Cameron's mind spun his life into an endless loop of dramatic scenes, replaying over and over.

Revisiting those old memories only highlighted how foolish he had been.
