Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled

Chapter 129

Chapter 129

I still remember what the doctor once told me, to keep a cool head, try to avoid getting too worked up or anxious to prevent any negative effects on the baby. So after hearing what Russel said, I took a deep breath. Russel, I’m gonna pretend I didn’t hear a single word you just said. I’m pretty sure you’re. running a fever. Go lie down on the couch for a bit, I’ll go get you some meds.”

I quickly turned around and left. I found a pharmacy nearby and bought some cold and fever medicine.

“Ms. Finch.” As I was about to leave, Louis walked out from behind the medicine shelves, holding some hangover pills.

“Mr. Aldridge,” I politely responded.

“Fancy seeing you here. Do you live nearby?” Louis asked with a polite smile.

I nodded, “Yeah, what brings you here?”

Louis was nothing like Neil and Russel, he was a real chatterbox, can strike up a conversation with anyone, whether he knew them or not.

He explained, “Actually, Neil invested in a project over here, the one I’m working on. We’re partners now. There’s a party nearby tonight, so I came to get some pills for hangover in advance”

“1 see, that’s great.” I responded with a smile, then excused myself, “I have some things to take care of, gotta head home”

“Alright, see you” Louis waved goodbye.

I left the pharmacy only to find my car blocked with cars in front and back and an illegally parked car next to it with no one in it. To make matters worse, the driver didn’t even leave a contact number.

Just as I was getting frustrated, I saw Louis coming out of the pharmacy and heading towards a car across the street. He got in and rolled down the window, and that was when I saw Neil in the driver’s seat.

Upon seeing me, Neil’s eyes flashed with surprise, but he quickly regained his composure. He said something to Louis, then started the car and drove

off.

I had no choice but to wait for the driver of the illegally parked car to show up. Three minutes later, Neil’s car made a U–turn and stopped in front of me.

He got out of the car, dressed in a white shirt and black trousers. His hair was slicked back, revealing a handsome face. Even without a carefully styled hairstyle, he still looked impeccable. He glanced at the illegally parked car, then at my car, “Need a lift?”

“No, thanks,” I replied indifferently.

“I can give you a ride.” Neil paused, then offered again.

I was in a hurry to get home, but I didn’t plan on riding with Neil

“Thank you, but I can take a cab.” I politely but coldly declined his offer and waited for a taxi by the roadside.

“Are you sick?” Neil glanced at the medicine in my hand, not upset by my refusal

I didn’t understand why he would care about that and just shook my head, “No.”

Neil’s gaze suddenly deepened, is someone else at home sick? Has Simmons not moved out?”

Just then, a taxi pulled up in front of me. I didn’t answer Neil, just got in the car, gave the driver an address, and drove off.

Not far ahead was an intersection. As I was waiting for the red light, I saw from the rearview mirror that Neil had also gotten into his car. His car quickly caught up with me and stopped next to mine at the red light.

I didn’t look at him. When the green light came on, the two cars went their separate ways.

By the time I got home, Russel had made some simple dishes and was sitting on the couch drinking water. Seeing me come in, he put down his glass. I’m feeling much better now”

“Take your medicine. Read the instructions.” I handed the medicine to Russel with a hint of anger.

He didn’t get upset at my anger. He obediently opened the medicine box, read the instructions, and took the medicine.

I went to get two plates, gave one to Russel, and started eating. I told him about running into Neil and Louis. He didn’t react much, just told me to eat All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

more.

“Once you feel better after taking the medicine, you should find a hotel as soon as possible. I was a bit annoyed. I felt like running into Neil was a warning from above Getting tangled up with either one of them would mean having to deal with the other.

Russel nodded, “Is it raining outside?”

“Yeah, it’s raining “I turned my head and glanced at the outside of the balcony.

“I didn’t have time to buy a car when I got here. I guess I’ll be hailing a cab in the rain with a fever and my luggage.” Russel said calmly.

I asked in confusion, “Can’t you tell Neil? He could pick you up.”

“Tell him what?” Russel asked. “Tell him I flew halfway across the world to chase after his ex–wife?”

I nearly choked. I always thought Russel was a bit slow emotionally. Not as direct as Neil, which was why he lost in love. But now, why did it feel like he was dropping bombs every time he opened his mouth?

After coughing a few times, I took a sip of water and glared at Russel, “Russel, can you stop talking nonsense? There’s no way anything can happen between us.”

“Anything is possible in this world.” Russel stared at me, “Don’t be so quick to reject me.”

How could I not reject him? I’m pregnant! Feeling a bit frustrated, I ran a hand through my hair and stood up, “Let’s clean up tomorrow. I’m going to bed.

You can sleep in the guest room tonight, and find a hotel in the morning”

I went to my room without noticing the smile on Russel’s face

I had to go to work the next day, so I got up early. The bed in the quest room was neatly made by Russel, and the dishes on the dining table were cleaned up. He must have left.

I let out a sigh of relief and drove to work. I still hadn’t decided whether to quit or not, so I still had to go to work when it was time.

As soon as I got to work, Orlando came to see me and told me about Rannie.

Turned out the marketing department didn’t approve Bonnie’s resignation, but when Orlando found out who Bonnie really was, he was pretty pissed. He personally ordered the head of the marketing department to approve Bonnie’s resignation.

It was just a part–time job, so the procedure was pretty simple. I had no objections to this.

At the end of work hours. I arrived at the parking lot, getting ready to drive back home. Just as I opened the car door, I suddenly felt a bit nauseous. I had to quickly rush to the restroom in the parking lot to vomit, and only came out after I was done vomiting.

Stepping out. I spotted Bonnie and Malinda standing there, looking a bit off–kilter. Just as Malinda was about to speak, Bonnie pulled her away

1 frowned Did she catch me blowing chunks just now?

I was worried that Bonnie might think I was pregnant. She was a pretty sensitive soul, and women often had a better sixth sense about these things than
