Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled

Chapter 375

Chapter 375

I instantly thought of Neil and Hiram.

Seeing Karina already working at the hospital here, I guessed they might have been still around, not having left.

If it was really them, Karina would have probably come by soon.

I was then in the maternity ward.

Hiram’s got a head injury, so he probably wouldn’t turn up here. I was a bit nervous, but I tried to comfort myself and keep cool so as not to stress out my body.

“Rena, guess who I just saw?” My mom came back; she looked a bit tense.

“Who?” I kind of had an inkling of who she might have run into, but I didn’t say it outright.

My mom let out a deep sigh, “I can’t believe I ran into Neil here. He’s still around, and it seems like Hiram’s been hurt. I saw him in the hospital lobby holding Hiram, but he didn’t notice me. Talk about lucky.”

My mom was clearly relieved.

“I hope Hiram’s injuries aren’t severe.” I said.

On the one hand, I felt that the kid was innocent, 1 couldn’t wish for him to get hurt. On the other hand, I hoped Hiram was just lightly injured so they could have left the hospital sooner, lowering the chances of us bumping into each other.

My mom’s heart wasn’t that cold, and of course she hoped Hiram was okay. We were just chit-chatting when my mom suddenly remembered something and said, “Oh, Russel said he’d come visit. I better tell him not to; it’d be a mess if he runs into Neil.”

“Karina already knows I’m pregnant and that I’m here.” I told my mom about the call I had just received.

“What? She already knows?” My mom was quite shocked. She was most concerned about the babies in my belly at that time. The news being known to Karina was not good news for us.

“Yes, and she seems very interested in who the father of the child is. I didn’t tell her, but she would definitely suspect it’s Neil’s. What are we going to do?” I felt really annoyed thinking about that possibility. I needed to take deep breaths to keep calm

I still remember the previous time I was pushed off the bed by Bonnie, and I had a miscarriage. Although my baby was unstable to begin with, there was still a glimmer of hope.

-What I feared the most was that the two babies in my belly would have to face danger again.

Even if they were born, I would still worry about someone wanting to hurt them. Even Neil wasn’t an exception!

My mom kept silent for a while, then said, “We’ll go back once the babies are born. I hire some servants to help out at home to keep an eye out and not let suspicious people in. This way, your dad and I would feel more at ease.”

Those thoughts might have been overly cautious, but because of the babies, my mom, dad, and I

I were all extremely on edge. We had to think of everything possible.

In the end, my mom didn’t call Russel. I thought if Russel did come and was discovered by Karina and Neil, it wouldn’t have mattered. It might have even been better to have them misunderstand that Russel

was the father.

I didn’t want to be legally tied to Russel because of the babies, I just wanted to mislead Karina a bit, so she give up on the idea of my babies.

But I didn’t expect that Russel and Karina’s meet-up would be so coincidental. When they walked into my ward together, I was a bit taken aback.

Karina had her hands in her trench coat pockets, grinning at me, “Ms. Finch, Hiram got injured, so I came over here, ran into Russel by chance, so we came to see you together.” Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.

Russel had a package of food in his hand, probably something he made at home. Hearing Kari insulated box and handed me a portion of food, “Eat something.”

“Um, did you make this?” I didn’t answer Karina’s question but asked Russel instead.

explain the reason on her own, he didn’t echo. He just opened the

“Yes, have a taste and see how it is.” Russel warmly handed me a knife and fork as his eyes were full of anticipation.

Karina was just standing on the side, watching us, her expression bland. After I took a few bites, she finally smiled and who the father of the children is because it’s Russel?”

“Ms. Finch, are you unwilling to tell me

Russel’s gaze swept over Karina and finally landed on me. I felt a bit guilty. I had told him before that I didn’t want any more relationships with him because of the babies, but since I found out that Karina knew about my situation, I started to waver.

I just hoped my babies were going to be safe and healthy. I could have tolerated anything else.

“Dr. Karina, you don’t need to worry about these things.” I answered coldly.

I’m not worried, just concerned about a friend. Russel and I went to the same university,” Karina sighed lightly, “Ms. Finch, I really don’t mind your past with Neil; it was me who was being silly back then and did some foolish things. I’ve thought it through these years; that’s why I came back.”

That kind of honesty made me uneasy. I never thought Karina was a straightforward person. She did what she did to punish Neil in the past; she even gave birth to a child alone abroad. She didn’t even tell her own family about it. That showed that she was a cold person.

“Dr. Karina, you don’t need to explain these things to me. Right now, I have no relationship with Neil. As you can see, I’m about to give birth, and the father of the child is not Neil.” I cut Karina off.

Karina was taken aback, then looked at Russel, as if waiting for him to give her a confirmed answer.

“You should know that I was with Irene before, so it’s not strange that I’m the father of the child.” Russel finally spoke, confirming Karina’s guess.

The moment I heard that answer, I could clearly feel Karina let out a sigh of relief.

If I were her, I’d been nervous too. Although Hiram was a Whitmore, he hadn’t been back all those years. Neil, Ryan and Faith’s relationship with Hiram wasn’t close.

But the babies I’m carrying were different. As long as I was willing to hand the babies over to the Whitmores, Nell would have definitely doted on these two babies

even more.

I have confidence in this.

I was not looking to pick a fight with Karina. I could take care of my own kids. There was no need to eye the Whitmore family fortune. Rather than all that bickering, I’d rather lived a simple, peaceful life with my kids.

“You’re right, I’ve been worrying too much.” Karina didn’t get mad. She gently ran her fingers through her hair and then said, “Well, I won’t ask Neil to come see you then. He’s busy with Hiram right now and he can’t get any time.”

I couldn’t care less. The more he stayed away, the better.

Besides, even if he found out the kids were Russel’s, I bet we’d have still ended up arguing anyway.
