Chapter 55
“We didn’t play you. That’s too much; you think I dare to betray you?” I explained, “When Ada came to work at my place, you didn’t even know Bonnie. I’m not a fortune teller. How could I predict this?”
Neil’s face softened a bit, he fell silent, and the atmosphere in the room seemed to suffocate with his silence.
I kept silent too. Everything was out in the open now, and there was nothing more to say.
Finally, Neil got up and said, “Don’t have anything to do with her. Don’t investigate her, don’t get close to her, and pretend nothing else happened.”
“How could I pretend nothing happened?” I retorted. My tone had cooled, indifference filled my eyes as I looked at Neil. “What do you take me for? A fool or a madman? Even the things that have hurt me, I should pretend they didn’t happen. Do you think that’s possible?”
“What do you want then?” Neil stood at the foot of the bed, looking down at me like some high and mighty god as if I was his loyal follower who had worshipped him for ten
years.
I asked him sarcastically, “Neil, are you ready to give in for her? That’s why you went to negotiate personally, which led to me getting hurt too.”
“Yes” Neil’s answer was straightforward, so his hurtful words were also straightforward. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
“Since you know everything now, and I know her, and she knows I’m your wife, why don’t we just get a divorce? I’ll give her my place, no hard feelings.” I brought up the divorce again.
In my past life, Neil proposed for a divorce after pursuing Bonnie for a year, but things were different now. He might want to divorce me sooner.
Alicia was right. This man has brought me nothing but suffering!
I need to get away from this disaster and chase a better life.
Neil’s eyes instantly turned icy cold.
Just then, Russel appeared at the hospital room door, his eyebrows furrowed, his eyes filled with complex emotions as he watched Neil and me in a standoff.
Neil noticed him too and said gloomily, “Don’t dream about it until I bring it up.”
Then he turned to leave, and as he passed by Russel, he paused and said, “There’s a party tonight. Wanna grab a drink?”
“Sure, send me the address.” Russel nodded.
The two were nearly the same height, both very attractive men, even more so when standing together. After Neil left, I joked with Russel, “Dr. Russel, you’ve never had a girlfriend. Are you into guys? Can you help me chase Neil? If you can break him up with Bonnie, I’ll get you a present!”
Russel gave me a cold look, and I immediately shut up.
“Did you talk it out with him?” He sat down where Neil had been sitting and asked casually.
“Yes, about the Zion Chemical Plant, he investigated Dean and Kent and found out that my maid Ada is Dean’s wife, Bonnie’s mother.” I sighed, “Unfortunately, he still didn’t agree to the divorce.”
“If he’s only toying with Bonnie’s feelings, would you forgive him?” Russel looked at me.
laughed, “Do you think I’m that kind? And do you really think he’s only toying with Bonnie’s feelings?”
Russel fell silent, and I wondered why Russel hadn’t developed feelings for Bonnie yet.
A minute later, I understood.
How can a man like someone he’s never met? Russel hasn’t seen Bonnie, hasn’t chatted with her, or had dinner with her, so he hasn’t had a chance to fall for Bonnie.
I need to find a way to get him to meet Bonnie soon.
Just then Russel took a call and had to go to work. I lay in bed, starting to think about how to find a suitable reason for him to meet Bonnie, to get him interested in her. If Neil had a love rival, and if that rival was his good friend, his possessiveness towards Bonnie would only get stronger.
Then he would agree to divorce me, right?
During my hospital stay, I kept thinking about this problem until the day I was discharged; Russel came to me and told me that Neil had taken Bonnie to see a few of his good friends.
I knew exactly what that meant, I had been married to him for five years, and he had never taken me to dine with his friends.
“Okay, I got it.” I replied calmly.
“Aren’t you upset anymore?” Russel asked.
“The most useless emotion is sadness.” I patted Russel’s arm lightly, “Thanks, I’ll treat you to a meal next time.”
After I said that, I got in the car. My mom was waiting for me.
Sadness, anger, upset, and pain were the emotions I had felt in my past life. I’d had enough, and I accepted it. My tears couldn’t change a thing.
“Dr. Russel, what did he say to you?” My mom asked as she looked out the car window at Russel.
“Nothing, he just congratulated me on getting discharged.” I leaned into my mom’s shoulder as I held her arm, then told Bailey to drive, “Bailey, back to Sterling Estates.”
“Yes, ma’am” Bailey answered, and we left the hospital.
Back at Sterling Estates, I wanted my mom to have lunch at home, but she insisted on going back, saying that my dad was also coming home today
I joked, “Mom, you and Dad have been married for so many years, and your relationship is still this good? I’ve never seen you this eager when he comes back from a business trip. Are you reminiscing about your young love?”
My mom laughed and pretended to be angry, “You dare to joke about me and your dad?”
“Til have Bailey drive you home.” I blocked the hand my mom raised to hit me and said with a laugh.
“Okay, take care of yourself. My mom reminded me before she left.
After Bailey took my mom away, I sat in the living room lost in thought. I wonder what’s going on with Ada now. Did she know that Bonnie and Oscar Morse broke up? Has she noticed that Neil is pursuing Bonnie?
I had too much on my mind, so I started to get a headache. I didn’t even eat lunch and went upstairs to rest.

Cause I got injured Neil hooked me up with a sick leave for half a month. After I checked out of the hospital, I’ve been chilling‘ at Sterling Estates to recover/Apart from hanging with Stella and the gang, I pretty much didn’t do anything else.
The whole kerfuffle with Zion Chemical Plant’s renovation got sorted out in these two weeks. Neil eventually caved in, just like what happened in my past life.
I reckon he and Bonnie might be heating things up, huh?
Lately Russel and I haven’t been in touch at all. I tried to invite him out for a meal, but he blew me off cause of work.
Maybe because Neil had been hanging around Bonnie more and more, he started to notice that she was a real catch, and that’s why he’s fallen for her. Hence, he no longer has time to listen to my whining
