Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled

Chapter 62

Chapter 62

“What do you think?” I tossed aside all the chaotic thoughts, and answered in a mysterious tone on purpose.

Garnett’s mouth twitched into a grin, gently pushing his glasses up on his nose. “I don’t know, but I hope you don’t have a boyfriend, so I stand a chance.”

Was this dude into me? I began to doubt. He didn’t seem to differ much from other men. Probably he just felt more comfortable with me after chatting for some time, and started to reveal his intentions. I downed the rest of my drink in one gulp, and stood up. “Enough of this, Mr. Kemp. I’m off.”

Seeing me about to leave, Garnett also stood up hastily. “Could you leave me your contact? I’ll show you I’m serious.”

Even if he was serious, so what? I was serious with Neil for ten years, and what did I get? Still, I gave Garnett my number. If Neil could have a blast with his mistress, why couldn’t I find someone to kill time?

After leaving my contact, I found Stella and the others. They were ready to call it a night too, so we all headed home.

Outside the bar, Bailey was waiting for me in the cold wind. Every time I had drinks, I would ask him to pick me up. He always opened the car door for me with respect, and helped me into the car. I held his hand, and said very seriously, “Bailey, don’t worry. I’ll give you a raise next year.”

No matter what, Bailey always faithfully followed my orders without any complaints. He paused, a strange look flashed across his face. Then he closed the door for me, quickly got into the driver’s seat, and drove me back to Sterling Estates.

On the way home, I saw the snowman, stared at it quietly for a few seconds, then poked out its eyes.

“You and Neil are both blind.” I muttered. What did I lack compared to Bonnie? Except that I was not as young as her.

The moment I stepped in the house, I heard Boomer meowing. Its sweet meow instantly lightened my mood a bit. I found it playing with a ball of yarn in its cat bed, picked it up and buried my face in its fur. After a while, I took a selfie with it and posted it online.

Then I went to take a shower and go to bed. Just before I fell asleep, I saw Oscar had sent me a few messages, and a picture of a kitten, which looked very cute. He asked, “Irene, do you like cats too?”

I replied, “It’s alright. A friend’s cat is temporarily staying at my place. I found it quite cute, is that your cat?”

Oscar, “I found it at school. It’s a stray cat. I thought it was really cute, so I decided to keep it. The kitten is very well–behaved, but eats a lot.”

Then he sent me a video of the kitten. The kitten in the video was so fat it looked like a pig. It tried to jump onto a chair but fell because it was too chubby. It was both funny and cute. I couldn’t help but laugh.

We chatted for a while, all about cats. Oscar must have seen my post and thought I really liked cats, so he started the conversation. That feeling, it was like doing it on purpose. I knew it very well, because once upon a time, I also deliberately found topics that Neil would be interested in to chat with him.

In the end, Oscar transferred all the money he owed me at once, saying: Thank you, Irene, I’ll treat you to dinner next time.

I replied: Okay, let’s do it tomorrow. I plan to take Boomer for a bath and deworming, you can also bring your kitten.

Oscar responded quickly: Okay!

After putting down my phone, I hugged my pillow and went to sleep. I couldn’t overwork myself anymore.

The next day, I searched online for a pet store nearby, then chose one and sent the address and time to Oscar. When I arrived at the pet store, he was already waiting there. He was wearing a thin black jacket, a turtleneck sweater underneath, and carrying a pet backpack with his kitten inside.

“Irene!” Seeing me, Oscar’s eyes lit up, and he smiled broadly. It seemed like he was starting to get over his heartbreak.

“Let’s go in quickly. It’s too cold outside.” I said to Oscar, carrying a transparent pet cage, and wrapping my coat tightly around me. I wondered if he was cold wearing so little.

After we both entered the pet store, I handed Boomer over to the store staff, and sat on the couch with Oscar, playing with his chubby kitten. The kitten was very lively, but due to its chubby figure, it often failed to jump up. It ran to my right side, trying to jump onto my shoulder. I was scared and stepped back, leaning closely against Oscar. He obviously didn’t expect it, and his face turned red.

When I regained my composure, I didn’t move away immediately, but smiled at him. Only after the kitten left did I sit up straight.

“It’s a bit naughty. Did it scare you?” Oscar didn’t dare to look into my eyes, his gaze following the kitten, and his voice was a bit nervous.

“No, it’s very cute. I want to buy it a hairpin!” I suddenly thought of it, got up and picked a pink cat hairpin. I asked Oscar to hold the kitten, and put it on its

ear.

The kitten was very cooperative, walked around with the hairpin on, showing off in front of Boomer, even tried to provoke it. Boomer, who was being groomed, didn’t like it and meowed angrily.

Oscar quickly rushed over to stop it. I took out my phone and captured this interesting scene, then sent it to Russel, “Look at this cute little cat! Boomer is annoyed by it, hahaha…”

Russel didn’t respond, perhaps he was busy. I didn’t mind.

After a few hours in the pet store, Oscar and I left together.

“Weren’t you going to treat me to a meal? How about we go now?” I reached my car, put Boomer in the back seat, and looked at Oscar.

Oscar’s gaze was still on my car, his envy and longing were almost impossible to hide. Hearing my words, he quickly nodded, “Okay,”

“Then get in.” I smiled at him.

I knew about Oscar’s financial situation, so I picked a budget–friendly buffet restaurant. After that, I called Bailey to come over and drive the car back. Boomer and Oscar’s kitten were also taken to Sterling Estates. Otherwise, the two little critters would definitely be uncomfortable if they were left in the

car.

The restaurant was packed with people, and Oscar was hustling around, picking out food he thought was delicious for me. Watching him be so

thoughtful, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him again. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

His looks were actually top–notch; at least in school, he could count as the most outstanding guy in the college. He was also very hardworking, full of energy, and always positive. If it weren’t for Neil’s meddling, he and Bonnie could have a bright future.

“Hey, handsome, my friend says you’re really good–looking, can I get your contact information?” A girl around eighteen or nineteen trotted over, her face blushed as she asked Oscar.

But Oscar subconsciously looked at me. The girl immediately felt embarrassed and glanced at me, “Oh, sorry, sorry, are you his girlfriend? Sorry for disturbing you guys.”

She rushed off awkwardly after that, and Oscar wore a troubled expression, as if he wanted to explain but didn’t. I sighed and said, “Man, you might just miss out on a great romance”
