Reckless Marriage Unyielding Love

Chapter 117

Chapter 117

After dinner, Mikayla and Carlos left together in a car.

Mikayla noticed Juliet's depressed expression through the window and frowned.

She turned to look at Carlos, who was concentrating on driving.

"Do you want Juliet to be with Elvis?" Mikayla asked bluntly. She had an intuition when Carlos took her away just now.

Hearing Mikayla's words, Carlos turned his head and said in a faint voice, "Brantley is not suitable for Juliet."

Mikayla once thought so too. She persuaded Juliet many times because she felt that Brantley was too ardent in his career, and Juliet's heart was too simple. However, how many people could be rational when it came to matters of love?

Juliet had a carefree personality, but she was especially persistent when it came to matters of the heart.

"Do you think Elvis is good for her, then?" Mikayla asked, enunciating her every word.

She didn't know much about Elvis, but to her, Elvis was cold and aloof.

"Elvis deserves to be loved, but he's not for Juliet either." Carlos' dark eyes flashed with an enigmatic light.

Mikayla looked back and asked, "Why?"

There was something wrong with Carlos' words.

However, the black Ford had stopped outside the Salvatore manor.

"I'll tell you when I have a chance!" Carlos smiled.

'Why is he keeping me in suspense?' Mikayla thought.

Mikayla unbuckled the seat belt. Carlos stretched out his long arms and directly held her in his arms. His voice lingered near her ears. "Mika, you'll be mine in a few days' time."

Mikayla didn't resist and felt warm inside.

They had clearly agreed it would just be a marriage of convenience, but now she was falling deeper and deeper into it.

Mikayla called out, "Carlos!"

"Yeah," Carlos replied, kissing her on the lips. It was just a very simple kiss.

"Forget it! If it goes on like this, I'll be shooting myself in the foot," Carlos said.

Mikayla bit her lips. He was clearly talking about the time at Lorenzo's clinic.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

"Don't try to seduce me like this. I'm afraid that I can't help it." Carlos held her slender hands.

Mikayla quickly withdrew her hand and said, "Then I'd better stay away from you."

She opened the door, got out of the car, and ran into the gate without looking back.

Looking at Mikayla's back, Carlos' smile broadened. After driving away, he looked at the glazed Xosa night view outside the window and the flashing neon lights in front of him.

After taking a shower and drying her hair, she felt much refreshed.

Mikayla was lying on the bed. After a whole day of tossing and turning, her whole body felt like falling apart.

When she was ready to sleep, she couldn't help but get the phone on the bedside.

Sure enough, Carlos sent a message 20 minutes ago: [I'm here! Are you asleep?]

Mikayla smiled faintly and replied with a message. She waited for a few minutes, but there was no more message.

Putting the phone back on the bed, Mikayla soon fell asleep.

The dream was a little bloody. Mikayla was frightened to wake up and found that she was still in bed, with lingering fears.

Mikayla didn't have to worry about preparing for the wedding. Hence, she didn't seem like a bride-to-be at all.

She didn't worry much about the last wedding with Jaxon. Jaxon said he would surprise her, so she didn't care about the details of the wedding venue and dress. However, making invitations, inviting relatives and friends, how much mary gift to give, the type of door gifts, and decorating their new houses were all hand-picked by her.

At that time, when she was about to get married, she felt happy with a little anticipation and nervousness.

However, in the end, it turned from a surprise to a shock. Her wedding with Jaxon became his and Winona's wedding, and she became a mere family member of the bride's family.

It was irony at its best.

And now, she knew nothing about this upcoming wedding. Even she had to doubt whether she was a fake bride.

Carlos told her that all she had to do was show up on the wedding day. Hence, a few days before her wedding, she still went to work as usual. However, it was good for her, since her work would be delayed due to the wedding celebrations, so she had to catch up with her work beforehand. As soon as they entered the company, Mikayla handed Quinnlyn the documents she had prepared. "Follow me."

Mikayla turned on the computer, and Quinnlyn came in from outside with a cup of green tea in her hand.

"This is brought by Patricia. She said that you drink coffee every day. Since you're getting married soon, this green tea will help enhance your beauty." Putting down the cup, Quinnlyn retreated some distance from the desk.

Looking at the tea leaves in the cup, Mikayla smiled faintly and said, "Please help me thank her."

"Ms. Salvatore, how could I be of help?" Quinlynn asked.

"Go and collect information about our company's spokesperson, Lauren. Both positive and negative, Mikayla stressed. "Besides, you can ask the HR department to transfer the contract signed with Lauren at that time. A copy is also acceptable! Bring it to my office by the end of the day."

"Okay!" Quinnlyn replied.

"You may head out now," Mikayla said.

Quinnlyn was really efficient. As soon as she went to work, she delivered everything Mikayla needed.

After finishing her work, Mikayla rummaged through Quinnlyn's information and contracts about Lauren.

There was some positive news in the materials. Mikayla looked up the contract between the company and Lauren, which had been renewed for five years. It showed that there were still two more years left.

The company signed her when Lauren was at her peak, so the price was not cheap. The endorsement fee for the first year was 3 million dollars, which increased by 20 percent every year and had risen to 5 million dollars this year.

That amount was Lauren's endorsement fee alone.

But because of Lauren's popularity, she did bring a lot of customers to Salvatore Group.

However, Mikayla could find nothing wrong with what Quinnlyn had gathered.

Although she seldom worked in the entertainment industry and didn't understand the rules, Mikayla had learned a lot from Juliet, who was a seasoned player in the entertainment industry.

The entertainment industry was complicated. Given Lauren's status in the showbiz, it was not impossible to hide something.

Hence, she dialed an internal number.

"Ms. Salvatore, what's the matter?" Maxius asked.

Mikayla fiddled with the documents in her hand and said to him, "Maxius, find out some information about Lauren on the inte, especially the negative news about her." After a pause, she added, "It's very likely that someone deliberately covered up her negative side."

Mikayla knew she could trust the proficient Maxius to get something off the inte.
