Chapter 133
*You…you’re the one that planned everything,” she mutters under her breath in realization. “Stop everything right this instant!” Elise muttered with a fiery focus as she climbed down the steps of the courtyard.
Whispers fill the whole crowd when they peer at the voice and see it’s their Luna. The whole pack erupts in shock, like they have just seen a ghost. She walks into the crowd, her clothes battered with blood and torn, showing the struggles she’s been through while she keeps her son Ethan tucked by her side.
Holden’s eyes widened in horror when he saw Elise gaze dead se on him as she took fast strides up the altar. “You? How? You are supposed to be dead,” Holden muttered in terror as he swallowed a gulp of nervousness.
He had immediately ordered guards to block her from coming close to him as Elise was about to lunge for him.
“What you wished never came true, you monster!” She snarled at him, but Holden scoffed out in fake disbelief, his eyes filled with anger that his plans didn’t work, and even in rage, Elise stood as a queen. “You planned this; you ambushed us when our guard was down, and you had your brother killed, and you thought I was dead too!” Elise mutters.
“Do you all hear what she is saying, accusing me? She is clearly lying! How dare you accuse me of killing my brother, you witch
“Then explain to us how you got his body. And how were you certain I was dead?” Elise asked, and the male was immediately silenced, his brow twitched with irritation from her questions.
The whole crowd erupts in whispers, and one of the Calhan Elders. Sam, has to rise in shock. “Luna Elise, what you’ve made accusations of is very big; this is Holden, the Alpha twin brother we are talking about!”
“From the things I’ve learned, even a blood brother can kill you if they have a reason enough for the throne,” she called with a snarl. She wanted to attack Holden right there and then cut off the smug look on his face.
“You little b**h! You think I’d kill my brother when you are the one that did! You have been greedy ever since the moment you stepped into this pack; you fooled and blinded my brother, and who cares if you were Alpha Edgar’s child when the only thing you and your mother had brought to our land is the death of our beloved Alphas?” He mutters with a wicked intent to his tone as he continues.
“You think your son’s legitimacy to the crown isn’t questioned? That child could not be for my brother! And when he knew it was enough reason for you to kill Hayden when he found out your secret, Elise!” He was accused.
Elise feels her wrath rise with each passing second that Holden spills more insults to hurt her; she clings harder to her son, letting that power flicker in her gaze. “Don’t you dare speak about my child that way or else!” she warns.
She takes one step forward, and she could see Holden immediately freeze up in fear, knowing the beta had always been. terrified of her powers.
“Y-you all see? She is threatening to kill me!” He called, moving backward, making a show of his fear towards Elise to point her out as a monster, to make her look like a killer to all the pack members.
But she had already resigned her fate, so be it if she gets to kill him for doing that to Hayden, she doesn’t care if she would be called a killer. She spears her claws out but freezes when she hears a voice filled with so much pain.
“Both of you should stop it!” Abby’s voice rang through the ceremony; her eyes were wet with tears not only from Hayden’s death but from the feud going on. Everything was a mess.
For a moment, everything in Elise’s head goes blank and numb, like she’d finally gained clearance. “What you’re doing, Elt Especially at Hayden’s burial?” She thought to herself.
“You’d both think Hayden-would want this? This bloodlust, the hates and fights at his burial when his body is still cold and waiting?” She muttered.
A guttural silence spread; for the first time Elise had looked towards Hayden, his body covered in a royal gray color, his skin pale now, and something broke in her “Mommy?” Ethan whispers worriedly.
But a hand comes into her view; it’s Abby who stretches out to hold Ethan, the only person whose body willingly releases her sons into the older lady’s hold. Elder Sam then clears his throat,
“If you truly believe both of you have something to do with it, then a trial will be set in 20 days after the traditional mourning days for a king have passed, and then you both can plead your cases of who caused our alpha’s death. And we shall find out who the true killer is if it’s his brother or his wife,” he orders.
“I will not wait for a trial to tell you all that he is Hayden’s killer Elise argued.
“Luna. please, are you really going to do this with all the people here? This pack will be in shambles if you continue, so wait “Luna-please, for the trial” Elder Sam pleads.
Elise had never felt frustrated like this in her life, she heated to cry, scream and break everything, she looks at Abby who is also silently pleading “Don’t for once think this is over She channels to Holden.
*Not counting on it.
Elise lets all that hate simmer down deep into her heart, her only focus now on Hayden; he looks so pale, his body stiff and his life gone, and Elise once again breaks down into a mess and lets her tears fall
She made her way to the coffin, each step weighing heavy on her legs; it was a heavy loss that made her feel numb, with trembling arms she raised to touch his cool skin.
Even in death, he was still so beautiful to her; she recalls how he always teased that his beauty made the females in the pack swoon; she recalled being pi**ed at him, smiling at one of the single ladies that blushed in return, and how irritated she’d gotten-not until she felt his lips on her cheek before he laughed.
Lips that were now pale blue and his body frozen in time, she bends down, leaving a kiss on his forehead. “I’m sorry, I’m so avenge you, I promise,” she cries out quietly. The whole crowd is filled with sorrow and tears in reaction to Luna’s sorry: grieving.
She watches as his body is lowered to the ground before the flames are lifted and set on the coffin as it begins to burn, an ancient tradition of the Calhan wolves.
Elise doesn’t look away; she watches Hayden throughout, clawing at her palm until it draws blood; it was the only way could feel something that wasn’t this aching despair.
She looks to the crowd to see them mourning and to Abby, who gives her a small yet sad smile, a relief to see her back, but then she looks back at Holden; there is no love or respect in his gaze, only victory that his plan was working. Elsie felt her body rave with anger; this wasn’t fair. She watched as Holden stood smug with his shoulders squared up in pride. ‘Murderer, she thought.
She vowed to make him pay for what he’s done. “Better look forward to Hayden’s body, Luna; you’ll miss his corpse burning out” he sent with a sly smirk that no one could see but her.Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
Her claws were spared out, ready to leap to tear his throat out. Not till she sees Abby, who quietly shakes her head, she was right; Elise knew that she needed to respect the burial procession.
Elise flinched when she felt a drop on her skin; the clouds had turned gray and began to drizzle, yet the winds blew calmly, like it felt the loss. As the sky began to cry for Hayden too.
Elise’s tears are drowned with the rain while the rest of the crowd remains under the tent in the courtyard, unscathed while she is soaked to The core.
Even though her body jittered, she stayed and watched the flame till the end, till Hayden was no more. She whispered her last goodbye, a vow to make his brother pay for what he’d done.
And he would not get away with this.
