Chapter 92
Chapter 92
-Angie-
Fighting at Fac’s side I had begun to realize a few things. The way we had each other’s back was like
an art all on its own. We moved as one, dodging and slipping around each other as we took down the
remaining Tally shifters.
Around us, the wolves along with our remaining soldiers were making light work of the Tally shifters.
Their lines were faltering and we were inching closer to victory.
The Tally would never surrender, never relent, it was clear that they were determined to fight until the
bitter end. Unfortunately for then that end was coming sooner than they could have expected. Our new
backup had attacked from behind with little warning.
Wolves of all sizes and colors had come pouring out from the forest behind the Tally and ravaged the
land Nature itself was determined to wipe the defected shifters from the face of the earth.
In a way I could respect them for the lengths they went to to get what they wanted. I was sure that, to
the Tally, the war was justified. And it very well may have been. But all the same, we could not just sit
back and allow them to wipe out our people.
It was a bittersweer battle. A fight to the end. It struck me once again that there are no true winners in
war. Even with our coming victory, we would all live with the knowledge that lives had been taken.
The held would be forever stamed with the blood of an entire pack even after the soul had soaked it all
up and a new began to grow on the scarred earth.

I looked at Fae who fought valiantly at my side. It occurred to me then just how much she meant to me.
How she had always been there. Through everything. We had fought together, cried together, and very
nearly died together.
I wondered how I had never truly seen her before. How was it that at that very moment, in the midst of
battle, that I was finally able to see Fae for who she truly was? Something stirred in my heart and I
fought beside her.
Somehow, without me noticing, she had crept into my chest and burrowed into my heart and that was
where she would stay. There were things I had to tell her when the battle was over. There were feelings
she needed to know about,
The end came quickly enough and the final Tally fell to a small but powerful Bielke shifter. Our
remaining soldiers set out to scour the woods for any stragglers and others tended to the injured
survivors.
I looked over at Fae as we finally allowed ourselves to breathe. The battle was over and we had won.
As unlikely as it had seemed, as impossible as the odds had been, the Bielke had succeeded. The war
was over and we had won.
I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out. That didn’t seem to matter to Fae though. She
stepped closer to me and in one quick motion pulled me down to her level, standing on the tips of her
toes as she pressed her lips to mine.
-Dorothy-
It took a long time for the others to find us there in the woods. I lay, cradled in my lover’s arms as he
swayed and dropped over me. Both of us were too injured to move, to speak.
All we could do was hold onto each other, breathing deeply and waiting for our bodies to heal
themselves as best as they could until someone came to help.
I had tried my best to heal Ignatius, despite his protests, but I was unable to give any more life without
ending my own. His blood fod congealed and turned sticky as we sat, molded together in a gruesome
amalgamation of limbs and matted hair
All I could do was hold onto him, inhaling his scent and reveling in the feel of him. Despite my injuries,
despite everything that had happened, I was grateful to just be in his arms once again.
Ignatius dipped his head down towards me, pressing his lips to my skin and using the pressure of his
embrace to stop the bleeding on my neck from Johan’s potent bite. Luckily for me, he hadn’t managed
to pierce my windpipe, but I was still losing blonel at an alarming pace.

Eventually, Ignatius whispered to me, quietly k*ssing along my sweat-soaked forehead. “You need to
heal yourself, Dorothy.” His voice was strained and weak. He too was fading fast, breathing heavily as
he leaned over me.
“I can’t. I’m out of energy,” I whispered back. “There’s nothing I can do to fix this.”
Ignatius was silent for a moment, his hot breath on my ear, and the only inkling I had that he was still
alive was his steady beating heart that pounded against my own.
“Use mine.” he said quietly and I looked up at him incredulously “Use mine,” he said again, stroking a
tendril of damp hair from my forehead. “You have to heal yourself. You have to live. He put a hand to
my stomach. “You all do”
“I can’t!” I protested, taking his fingers in my hand and forcing him to meet my eyes. “It’ll kill you!”
Ignatius eyes were fluttering as he swayed in and out of consciousness. He rested his forehead against
mine. “Please, Dorothy. Let me do this for you.”
“No,” I whispered as tears pri cked my eyes and I clung to him tightly. “I can’t do that. You can’t ask me
to do that.”
“It’s okay, Dorothy Ignatius k*ssed away the hot tears that rolled down my checks and took my
trembling hand in his. He pressed it to his chest and met my eyes. “Dying at your side is not a bad way
to go. Let me protect my family. Please, Dorothy
I was shaking my head, desolation contorting my face as I tried to pull my hand away. “I cant! I won’t!”
But already my palm that was pressed to his skin began to pric kle as electricity sparked at his touch. It
seemed my b*dy was. determined to heal itself and Ignatius had just given in the go-ahead to do what
it needed to do to survive.
“No, No! I tried desperately to pull my hand away but Ignatius held it firm, enveloping me in a tight
embrace and stroking my hair with his other hand.
“It’s okay. Dorothy. I love you. Please just know that I love you. From the moment I first set eyes on
you, before we had even met. You’ve always had my heart
Scuffling in the trees around us became audible and Angie as well as dozens more soldiers arrived in
the clearing. Clearly, the battle was over, and by the looks on their faces, we had won!
It meant nothing to me, however, if my mate was not there to celebrate the victory alongside me. I
couldn’t let him go. 1 wouldn’t. But already his chest began to glow with that cursed white light as his
life force pulsed through my fingertips.
1 was crying, raging, desperate to make it stop but it was no use. Ignatius was already slumping over
me as the life drained from his battered b*dy.
Behind us. Angie’s eyes widened as she realized what was going on. “Ignatius, no you can’t
Angie rushed forwards along with a few others. She gripped Ignatius shoulder, frantic and panicked.
Something odd occurred when she touched him, however,
I felt a spark of new energy shoot up into my palm at her touch. Angie seemed to feel it too and she
pulled away, only for her face to change as an idea dawned on her.
“We can share it, she whispered.
I didn’t understand what she meant by that but I watched as Angie pressed her palm to Ignatius back
once again and her own b*dy lit up with the same pale glow. Angie looked at me with a level stare. “You
can save the both of you,” she said quietly. “We can share the burden”
I could do nothing but stare back at her as a larger influx of energy raced through my palm. Both mine
and Ignatius’ wounds began to knit back together in the process and I watched as his torn chest slowly
began to fill out once again.
I snapped my eyes bark up to Angie when Fae stepped up beside her and she too placed her hands on
Ignamus back. One by one, more shufters stepped forwards to share their energy and the clearing hit
up with a glow like nothing I had ever seen

“can’t take this from you,” had tried to protest as Ignatius twitched in my arms. I can’t take life from all of
you. I’ve taken too much from you already. I’m the reason this war started in the first place.
Angie was die first to deter me though. “You’re our Luna, Dorothy. You led us into battle and you fought
at our side. You have proven yourself to this pack and we have all accepted you as our queen. Let us
save our leaders”
The others nodded in agreement and the tears poured forth as looked from each and every one of
them to Ignatius who leaned against me with flickering eyes. Never before had I truly felt accepted
anywhere.
I had lost my pack and my family. Thad been alone for so long. Now, after the fiercest battle of the past
century, I had finally found my people. I had finally found my home. I had a family and a park who were
all willing to share the very essence of their brings with someone as insignificant as me
After our wounds had stitched closed and nothing but a hairline scar remained, Ignatius opened his
eyes. He seemed, confused and bewildered, looking around at the Bielke members who stood at his
back. He examined his own clear chest and then my stomach, “How I don’t understand?”
I cupped my hands around his face, smiling through the tears that stained my cheeks. “The Bielke isn’t
so bad after all,” 1 laughed and pulled him into a k*ss that I had been desperate for from the rooment Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
he had left in the first place.
His lips were soft against mine and my heart was full as 1 embraced my mate in the beaming moonlight
