Chapter 1*3*6 KAIDEN STIRLING I hurried into the hospital and to the emergency ward where Safiya was. Goddess… What was going on? What the hell was actually going on? Because I did not want to listen to bu**t I had heard the maids say. ‘The Luna was pushed by her sister!’ ‘They have always had issues because of Alpha,’ another had said, shaking her head. ‘He is a very attractive man. I understand them fighting over him,’ a different maid had said with a dreamy look that irritated me. ‘I can’t wait to see Freda get punished. It’s been long awaiting.’ The last maid said and I stormed into the living room. I grabbed my coat from off the back of the couch where I had dropped it when I came in fifteen minutes before to the bad news. “You all better shut your mouths and do your work or there will be consequences,” I had fumed as I walked past them. “Where is she?” I pulled myself out of my thoughts and asked Georgina. She looked like she was in shock but on seeing me, she got better. “Room 29,” she responded and I raced to the room. I walked in and saw Safiya sitting straight in the bed and staring into space. My eyes raked her entire body, wanting to be sure she was completely fine. The baby bump seemed to be safe too. Neither of them was severely hurt or seemed to be hurt at all. I was not going to be and say I didn’t care about her. I did. I had been with her for years so it came to me naturally I just had my priorities right now. She was nothing more than the mother of my children, Harper and the one unborn. “Are you alright?” I asked, walking to her bedside carefully. She looked at me with tear-filled eyes, and I froze, not exactly knowing what to do. She started to s**b and her hands reached out for me. I held her hands and climbed into the bed softly as much as the ropes from the drips she was receiving would let me. “What happened?” I asked quietly as she sobbed into my chest. hiccupped and her tears came to a slow stop. I was itching to get out of this bed. To get out of this room even because I did not want to be near her. There was someone else that I would rather be close to. There was someone else I needed to hold in my arms with my whole heart…and it sure as hell was not Safiya. “It was Freda,” she said, her voice tearful and filled with hurt. My heart dropped to the base of my stomach. This was not good. There was absolutely no way that what the maids had been saying was true. No way at all. I didn’t like this. I was not supposed to be the one to judge this because I cared more for Freda than I did for anyone in the world. Absolutely anyone. Coming close were my three children (born and unborn) and lastly, my parents. If Freda had indeed done what the maids had said she did, I was not going to judge it. Aside from that, Safiya had always been the one to go after Freda, so there was no way I was going to look at it fairly. Ever. 25.92% III r 15:56 What did she do?” I asked absently, for the sake of asking. She pushed me, she said, sniffing. “I’ll admit, I came unto her first because I saw her drop you off, but I did not expect her to push me…in front of everyone at the mall. She’s my sister. Why did she want to hurt me?” She said, her voice breaking at the last sentence. I pressed my lips together and said nothing at first. I was contemplating her words and I didn’t know if I should believe her or not. I knew Freda to be a person who had massive control over her emotions no matter how much she was pushed. I was the only one that ever managed to tip her over the edge and now was the only time I appreciated that. I was the only one that could drive her nuts. But that was not to say that Safiya had not managed to do it this time, because after me, I knew Safiya was the second biggest thorn in Freda’s flesh.
“How did it happen?” I asked and there was a pause before she spoke. Her body was now tense against mine and something was generally wrong with her body language. “I approached her, and I tried talking to her calmly because we are both adults, and I can politely ask her to leave you alone. She started to get upset and I told her I was going to leave. She was above me on the staircase, so she pushed me,” she whispered. I blinked and said nothing in response to her. “You don’t believe me,” she said, pulling away from me to look at my face. “What?” I asked, acting clueless. Marrying Safiya was the last time I was going to let someone get between Freda and me. I was going to stand up for her even if I turned out wrong. But I had to do it reasonably. 60.33% 111 O 15:56 That was why I grabbed her hand in a gentle, soft grip and raised it to my lips. I kissed it. “Of course I do,” I said. Her eyes softened and I felt bad for taking advantage of the way she cared for me. “You don’t,” she said tearfully. “Get out. Get out now!” And I left.
