The scent of pancakes wafted into my nose, rousing me from sleep. The sunlight. streaming through the window hit my eyes, making me groan as | sat up and stretched my body. | looked to my side, and Alpha Kex was nowhere to be found.
| could hear sounds coming from the kitchen, and | got up to investigate. As | walked out of the bedroom, | was hit with the full force of the smell of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. The kitchen was warm and inviting, the sounds of cooking filling the air. | followed my nose to the source of the delicious smells.
There he was, Alpha Kex, wearing an apron and his back to me, standing at the stove. | couldn’t help but admire him, his strong frame, his broad shoulders, his wavy hair, hist scent filling the room.
| felt an urge to go up behind him and wrap my arms around him, but | held myself back. This was new territory for me, and | would rather not make him uncomfortable.
“You know it’s a crime to stare at someone without their permission,” he said, a mischievous glint in his eye. | felt my cheeks grow red, embarrassed to be caught. “I wasn’t staring at you,” | protested, but my words were weak. “Then what were you staring at?” he asked, his voice low and seductive.
He moved closer to me, and | felt my breath catch in my throat. My heart was racing, and | could feel my nipples harden beneath my clothes. | knew | should look away, but | couldn’t tear my eyes from his.
He placed a gentle kiss on my forehead. “Good morning,” he said, his voice warm and soothing. He caressed my cheek, his touch sending a shiver through me.
“Good morning, Alpha Kex,” | mumbled, my words still half-asleep.
“Ugh,” he groaned, “stop putting ‘Alpha’ in front of my name. It’s just Kex.”
| laughed, the sound filling the room. “Fine, Alpha, sorry Kex,” | said, a smile on my face.
He rolled his eyes, but | could tell he was smiling too.
“Do you mind going for a walk after breakfast?” he asked, breaking the moment. Chapter 35
between us.
“Why not?” | said, a little surprised at his request.
“Thank you,” he said with a smile. He leaned, his lips closed to mine, | was about to press my lips with his, when | caught a whiff of something burning.
“Shit!” Alpha Kex exclaimed, rushing to the stove and turning it off. He removed the pan, and the scent of burnt food filled the kitchen.All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
Oops, my late dad wasn’t lying when he said women are distractions,” he said, his face sheepish. | couldn’t help but laugh.
He served the food on the counter, and we sat opposite each other, enjoying the meal in companionable silence. | put the pancakes in my mouth, savoring the taste of maple syrup and butter, | shut my eyes.
“Mmmm,” | said, unable to contain my satisfaction.
“Delicious,” he observed with a grin. | opened my eyes, surprised by his comment.
“| didn’t know you were paying attention,” | said, a little embarrassed. He shrugged.
“It's hard not to notice the way you are enjoying your breakfast made by the best chef,” he said, a hint of anusement in his voice. “So you think you are the best chef?” | said with a teasing smile.
“Absolutely!” he exclaimed, a confident look on his face.
“Come on,” | said, “just admit it. | cook better than you.”
He gave me a sly grin. “I will admit nothing of the sort,” he said.
“A chef who burns food isn’t much of a chef,” | teased.
His cheeks grew pink. “That’s because you distracted me!” he said, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. | felt my cheeks turn red, a blush spreading across my face.
We continued to banter back and forth, a playful exchange that brought a smile to my face. When we were done eating, | gathered the plates and put them in the sink.
“Don't worry, | will do the dishes,” Alpha Kex said, his voice gentle.
“Thank you,” | said, relieved that | wouldn’t have to spend my time scrubbing dirty dishes. | hate doing the dishes, it really sucks cleaning them.

| headed towards the bedroom and closed behind. 82%/
| hurried to the bathroom to take a shower, eager to feel refreshed and ready for the day ahead. | stepped out of the bathroom, my hair damp and my skin still warm from the shower. | looked at the clothes in my room, not sure what to wear.
| settled on a pair of jeans and a crop top, deciding that comfort was more important than fashion. | looked at myself in the mirror, cursing myself for not bringing any makeup. But then again, it wasn’t like | had expected to be taken to a cottage in the woods.
| stepped out of the cottage, feeling the cool breeze on my skin. Alpha Kex was standing by the door, his expression unreadable. “Ready?” he asked, a slight smile playing on his lips.
“Yes,” | said, my voice barely above a whisper.
He wrapped his hand around mine, and we started walking. | looked up at the sky, the sun shining brightly in the clear blue sky. The scent of pine trees and wildflowers filled. the air, and | felt a sense of peace wash over me.
| glanced at Alpha Kex, a smile on my face, but as soon as | noticed that he was looking. at me, | looked away, my cheeks growing warm. Why did | feel so nervous around him?
| caught him staring at me again, and | held his gaze, daring him to look away first. He didn’t back down, his gaze intense and unwavering.
“What?” | asked, my cheeks flushed with color.
He let out a small chuckle, and | felt my heart skip a beat. “I’m just wondering how the goddess could have made such a beautiful damsel like you,” he said, a teasing smile on his lips.
| laughed and playfully hit him on the arm. “You are such a dork,” | said, and he laughed along with me. “But you asked me to lose weight the first time we met,” | said, still unable to keep a straight face.

“Well, it didn’t bring down my ego,” | said, shrugging.
“The funny thing is, it just made me like you more.” | was taken aback by his confession,

unsure of how to respond.
“Is anything the matter?” he asked, his voice laced with concern.
| shook my head, realizing | had been lost in thought. Maybe | was reading too much. into this, | thought. But the more | talked to him, the more intrigued | became.
Who was this man in front of me? He seemed so different from the ruthless Alpha | had met before. Had something changed, or had | just been wrong about him from the
start?
