Remorse After Breaking Up

Chapter 444

Chapter 444

"Who am I? Why can't I remember anything?"

The man kept slapping his head. He felt a splitting headache.

"You must have lost your memory. Since you can't recall anything, don't stress about it. I'll find a doctor to examine you when we get to Phoenix Island. Dr. Lorence is highly skilled and might be able to help you recover your memory," Artemis reassured him.

"Artemis, what on earth are you thinking? We don't know anything about his past. How could you possibly bring him back with us?" Clara said disapprovingly.

Bethany nodded firmly. "She's right. Phoenix Island is strictly off limits to outsiders. With his unknown background, if he turns out to be a spy, it will be troublesome."

"He nearly died and lost his memory. How could he possibly be a spy?" Artemis countered.

"Even if he's not a spy, our island has strict rules about outsiders. You can't bring him back," Clara insisted. The others nodded in agreement.

Artemis was frustrated. "What else can we do? We can't just let him drift in the vast ocean."

"What do you mean by that? You shouldn't have saved him earlier. Just throw him overboard," Clara said.

"How can you say that? Throwing him overboard is no different from killing him. I won't agree to it," Artemis argued.

"What's all this shouting about? What's going on here?"

A commanding voice cut through the tension as several figures emerged from the ship's cabin. The leader was a tall, middle-aged man flanked by two men of similar age.

"Dad, Uncle Robert, Uncle Amos," the group greeted.

These people were from Phoenix Island. It was a small, isolated island in the Abyss Sea known only to a few.

The island was home to three major families, and the three middle-aged men were the patriarchs of these families. The leader was Robert Claude, the patriarch of the Claude family, while the other two were Cleef Strauss and Amos Lorence.

Artemis said, "I rescued someone from the sea. He has lost his memory, so I was hoping to bring him back to Phoenix Island for treatment. Once he gets better, we'll send him away. I hope Uncle can agree."

Although she was a member of the Strauss family, Cleef was her uncle, not her father.

"Dad, this man's origins are unknown, and our island strictly prohibits outsiders. You can't agree to this," Clara interjected.

"Clara, didn't I tell you that saving a life is more valuable than anything? We have rules against letting outsiders in, but they're not set in stone. Haven't other people visited our island in recent years?" Cleef chided.

"Those were prominent figures from major families and clans. This man is a nobody. How can you compare him to them?" Clara retorted.

"Enough!" he snapped. He turned to Robert and Amos. "Mr. Claude, Mr. Lorence, what do you think?"

Robert said, "Bringing him back isn't a major issue. I want to make one thing clear. Since your family member rescued him and insisted on bringing him back, you will be held accountable if anything goes wrong."Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

"Sure." Cleef looked at Artemis. "Since you rescued him, you'll be responsible for him on the island. If anything happens, it will be on you."

"Thank you, uncle," she said.

Two days later, the large ship docked at an island. Phoenix Island wasn't large and was estimated to be less than

one-tenth the size of Phaedra Island.
