“Also…. these are macarons. Please have a try, Ms. Sadler.”

Mayra replied, “Alright, please send them to my room.”

No matter how busy Anderson was, he had never neglected her. She thought she shouldn’t have said those words to provoke him. With a little regret, she turned to look at the closed door.

She decided not to disturb him and wait for him to calm down.

After returning to her room, she showered and started to pack her things. She didn’t have a lot of belongings, just a few sets of clothes. Her trip to Candor City was so sudden that even her current outfit was a last–minute purchase. NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.

Since Anderson had to stay for a few more days in Candor City, she was hesitant about returning to the Barlow mansion.

After her shower, she dried her hair. All she could think about was the look of disappointment in Anderson’s eyes. Despite keeping her eyes closed in bed, she tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.

She carefully unlocked the door of the pitch–black room.

She had done something like this many times before.

It was 12:00 am.

Mayra sneakily approached and knelt beside the bed. In the darkness, she said softly, “Andy, are you asleep… Are you still mad at me? If you are, I’ll come back in another two hours.”

Seeing that he ignored her, she leaned toward the bed and added, “Andy, are you hungry? Would you like me to buy you some pasta or ravioli for supper?”

She continued, “I heard this place has the best aglio olio. But I’m not sure if any restaurant is still open at this hour.”

She heard Anderson take a deep breath, Burn over, and put his hand to his forehead.

With a grin, Mayra turned on the table lamp. She saw Anderson in his dark- colored pajamas with his lips pursed. Once adapted to the light, Anderson lowered his hand and ordered in a deep and hoarse voice, “Get out!”

Mayra ignored his command and waited until he put down his hand. She noticed the red veins in his eyes and the lingering smell of alcohol.

“Andy, actually… you’re the one I like the most. Everything I said before was out of anger.

“Are you having a headache again? I’ll get you some warm water so that you can take your medicine.” Mayra diligently got up as she spoke. In her oversized slippers, she headed to the kitchen to get some water.

Several minutes later, Mayra returned to Anderson’s room with a cup of warm water. She opened the bedside table drawer and found Anderson’s medicine.

This time, she brought the pill to Anderson’s mouth. Anderson leaned against the headboard and glanced coldly at her. “Why don’t you go to Gordon?”

“Gordon is nothing compared to you. Here, take your medicine.”

This remark seemed to please him.

Anderson asked, “Can’t sleep?”

Mayra replied in a flattering tone, “If you ignore me, I’ll be too sad to sleep.”

Upon noticing Anderson’s smirk, she reckoned he had calmed down.

As expected, he was easy to appease!

Anderson said, “Who taught you to speak in such a way?”

Mayra handed the water to him. “Who needs to be taught these things? If you want to learn, I can teach you. That way you can use it on Isabel when she’s angry.”

“Can you get the box from the pocket of my suit jacket?”

“Oh, okay.” Mayra reached into the pocket of the suit jacket in the living room. She found a delicate black velvet box. A receipt fell out of the pocket.

Without looking at the receipt, she took it and the box into the room for

Anderson.
