Chapter 656 Her Permission? Ridiculous!
Abbott still tried to make sense of this, but the old Mrs. Lawson motioned him to stop, "Well, I know
you're on the side of Laura since you married her. Anyway, if you want to make me feel better, you
should allow Cathy to work in Sophia's company. And I will pretend nothing happened."
Abbott was stunned since he never expected she would make such a request.
"Mom, I need to ask for permission from Sophia."
The old Mrs. Lawson got angry, "Do you know what you're saying? I just want my granddaughter to join
her company. Her permission? Ridiculous!"
"Yes, you're right," said Abbott.
Drake stood aside and listened all the way. He had known that the old Mrs. Lawson must have woken
up earlier but his father-in-law had no idea about it. Perhaps, she and William had made a scheme.
"If Sophia doesn't agree, I won't be done with her."
"I got it."
When Abbott stood up, he saw Drake.
Before he made a greeting, the old Mrs. Lawson spoke first, "Drake, thank you for your visiting. I heard
you asked the doctor to look after me. You're so sweet. Cathy, come here and say thank you to Drake!"
A pink flush spread over her cheeks. Before she said something, Drake interrupted her.
"It's OK. I'm coming here to tell you not to provoke Sophia since I can never tolerate others being
difficult with my wife. Now that you've come back to life, I should leave then."
Drake turned to leave.
The old Mrs. Lawson said quickly, "Cathy, see him off the door."
"Yes!" Cathy hurried to follow.
But Drake turned his head and said, "No worries. And Cathy, please keep a distance from me."
Cathy suddenly stood still, looking at him with bewilderment without a word.
Drake didn't mind her feeling at all and took the elevator to leave.
Abbott was making a phone call there while William reached his hand and patted Cathy's back to
comfort her, "It's OK. We still have time. With the help of your grandma, Drake will finally get married to
you."
Cathy reacted by smiling, "Yes. I even forgot that beating Sophia is the top priority. And gradually,
Drake will pay attention to me, right, Dad?"
William nodded, "Correct. And noted that you should work hard in Sophia's company!"
"No problem!"
In the next morning, Cathy reported for duty.
Sophia didn't feel surprised about the arrangement of the old Mrs. Lawson. After all, she knew clearly
that they came back for Drake and every industry of the Lawson family.
Before, the old Mrs. Lawson kept making a scene and had no time to scheme. But now, as she just
came back from the coma, she realized that she'd better stop since it was not good for everyone, thus
she asked Sophia to allow Cathy to be her staff member so as to thaw their relationship.
Cathy showed up in front of Sophia excitedly and complacently, "Sophia, do you offer me a vice-
president position? Where's my office?"
Sophia was working now and didn't look up at her, "No. Please hold on, my assistant will take you to
your place."
Soon, her assistant came to Cathy and said in a deferential tone, "Cathy, please follow me."
Cathy threw a stare at Sophia and turned to get out.
However, after a while, she just scurried back and shouted at Sophia with rage, "Sophia, you ask me to
be a junior clerk of the sales department. I'm your younger sister, and it was Grandma who arranged
me to work here. How dare you?" Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
Sophia raised her head unhurriedly, "Calm down, Cathy. I know you're not satisfied about my
arrangement. But listen, you're a green hand now and you should learn more from basic works. Only if
you're capable, others will be convinced by you when you get promoted in the future. Otherwise, they
will cold-shoulder you. I can't get you into such a trouble. OK?"
"You mean what you do now is good for me, uh-huh?" Cathy sneered.
"Surely. Everybody knows you're my cousin. I won't do harm to you. Trust in me, Cathy."
Cathy opened her mouth but failed to force a word.
"I will tell it to Grandma later. What you should do now is to get familiar with our business. When you're
competent enough, I will promote you. Cathy, remember, work hard!"
Sophia said with a gesture of encouragement.
Cathy didn't know how she got out of the office. Due to anger, hardly had she reached her place when
she snitched on Sophia's arrangement to the old Mrs. Lawson on the phone.
And soon, Sophia received the phone call from the old Mrs. Lawson which she had foreseen. After all,
Cathy had been good at tattling since her childhood, hadn't she?
"Grandma!"
When Sophia just made a greeting, the old lady began screaming, "Don't call me Grandma! You're not
my granddaughter!"
Sophia quickly put the phone away from her in case it would deafen her.
The old Mrs. Lawson kept scolding at her. As she was too tired to continue, Sophia picked up her
phone and told her.
"Grandma, I understand your feeling but it's good for her. Cathy only worked abroad before and she
doesn't know the domestic business. Once I put her in the position of vice president, but she fails to
perform well, she will be reprimanded by many people."
"Of course, they won't talk about it in public because of me. But what about backbites? Therefore, it's
better for her to start at the bottom. My staff know she's my cousin, and they will treat her patiently.
What do you think? Besides, it's a good chance for her to find inadequacies of management in the
company during her nesting period."
The old Mrs. Lawson paused for a while and then said, "Are you serious?"
"Absolutely. Grandma, although Cathy and I don't get along well with each other, we're still family! We
should help each other. Don't worry, Grandma, I always look at the bright side in this respect!"
The old Mrs. Lawson seemed to understand her meaning.
"Well, I will talk with Cathy."
"Thank you for your understanding. As long as Cathy performs well, she will get promoted then. As for
her salary, it will be the same as a vice-president's."
