"Ned is the CEO of Hawking Technologies, and he just came from Murida. I heard that in recent years, he has acquired several tech companies over there. He's quite an impressive figure," Rowan explained briefly.

This Ned Sowle was rather mysterious. Little information had been available about him, and Rowan had only just learned from the event organizers that he was the CEO of Hawking Technologies.

Rowan thought that since such a prominent person had been in Murida, Skylar might have heard something about him.

But it seemed that during her time there, Skylar had been entirely focused on finding Joe and had not paid attention to other matters.

Unfortunately, all their friends knew that Joe, who had gone missing for three years, wasn't simply missing—he was truly gone. Skylar might be the only person left who still believed he was alive.

"I didn't hear about him in Murida, but I've heard a bit since coming back. I heard he'll be attending tonight's gala," Skylar realized that the CEO of Hawking Technologies was Ned.

Rowan nodded. "Yes, many people are here tonight just for him, hoping to collaborate with him."

"Skylar, look, Aiken is here," Caleb said as he walked over and pointed in a direction for Skylar.

She followed his gaze and saw Aiken approaching. His presence had already drawn many people's attention, and a crowd gathered around him, engaging in conversation.

While talking to others, Aiken noticed Skylar and seemed momentarily surprised. He didn't expect her to be at the gala tonight.

Then, he spotted Caleb and Rowan and quickly understood that Skylar was likely here as a companion to one of them.

Considering that Ned would also be present tonight, Aiken's expression changed subtly, though he remained composed.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

"Aiken never used to attend events like this. Why did he come today? It's really lively tonight," Caleb remarked.

Rowan replied in a serious tone, "Your Uncle John probably wouldn't want you to get too close to the Parkinsons. So, you had better stop calling him by his first name."

Although Aiken was well-connected in Jipsburg and handled many matters behind the scenes, most of what he did couldn't be seen. Interacting too much with him wouldn't be beneficial.

Caleb felt a little exasperated. Rowan's lecturing tone reminded him too much of his uncle. If it weren't for the friendship between Rowan and his uncle, Caleb might have retorted by

now.

It seemed like everyone thought they were the good guys, assuming that Aiken was the bad one, but who knew what secrets everything held?

After exchanging a few words with others, Aiken walked over to Skylar. As he approached, his gaze was fixed directly on her.

Rowan raised an eyebrow at what he saw. He remembered Paul mentioned a few years back that Aiken seemed to have some feelings for Skylar.

At that time, Rowan hadn't thought much of it because Skylar was already married to Joe. Knowing him, there was no way he would allow Aiken any opportunity. But now...

As Rowan narrowed his eyes, lost in thought, Aiken had already reached Skylar and said, " Let's find a quiet place. I have something to tell you."

Seeing the serious expression on Aiken's face, Skylar nodded before saying, "Alright, let's go."

They walked to a nearby area with tables and chairs, which was most likely empty at the moment. Once they sat down, Aiken spoke directly, "I found the person you asked me to look for."

Hearing this, Skylar's expression immediately changed.

She stared intently at Aiken, her heart racing. "So quickly? Where is he?"

Seeing Skylar's excitement and anticipation, Aiken felt a twinge of discomfort but quickly concealed it. "He should be arriving at the gala later tonight."

"What?" Skylar was stunned.

"Listen to me. According to the information I found, he is not Joe. They do look very much alike, but his name is Ned Sowle. He's the CEO of Hawking Technologies and grew up in Murida. He isn't from Jipsburg. Plus, he's been engaged for six months."

Skylar's expression changed drastically. It wasn't Joe?

Seeing Skylar's face, Aiken softened his tone and added, "They do look very similar."

Skylar nodded in a daze.

After muttering a word of thanks, she stood up. "I'll go to the restroom for a while."
