Rift in the perfect picture

Chapter 446

Having always been sensitive to pain, Claudia could no longer care much. The sound of the handcuffs clanking echoed in the air, and her sobs sounded even more desolate in the howling wind.

“Nick, Ariana had the police arrest me. Mom is also at the police station now. If you really think living is too hard and want to leave me and Mom behind, then please stall time. Walt for Mom and me to come and join you because Ariana will definitely have us killed!”

Upon hearing this, Nicholas directed his disoriented gaze on Claudia’s wrists. Only then did he realize that she was handcuffed.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

“What happened?” he croaked.

“Ariana framed Mom and accused her of embezzlement. I’ve no idea why Mom said Ariana was doing. this out of revenge!”

Staring blankly at the sky, Nicholas thought it was his fault that I had vented my anger on others because he made me lose my child.

“Once I’m gone, she won’t blame you anymore,” he murmured.

He stretched his arms open and took half a step backward. Nothing in this world could hold him back

now.

He beamed, taking in the perfect breeze and warm sunlight–this should be the last time he felt this way

in his life.

A small stone rolled away from his foot and crumbled into pieces before it even hit the ground.

“Nick!” Claudia shouted. “Ariana won’t spare us. I can call her now!”

Upon hearing that he could call me, Nicholas regained a flicker of hope. He remained silent, but his eyes were sparkling with anticipation.

Claudia no longer cared about anything else and directly dialed my number.

The phone felt like a ticking time bomb in my palm. Trembling with anxiety, I felt the warmth drain from my fingers as I pressed the screen multiple times before finally answering the call.

Seconds felt like years for Nicholas as he waited. Was I reluctant to answer the phone? Did I not want to talk to him even knowing he was about to die?

He pressed his hand against his chest, but it seemed that his heart no longer hurt.

“Nick…” I choked the moment I began speaking. “Nicholas…”

Tears fell along with my words. “Nicholas, the child is still alive, and I’m still here. Come down! Can you hear me? Do you hear me?”

I mustered all my strength to shout into the phone, but all I heard in response was the sound of the wind howling on the other end.

I didn’t know if Nicholas could hear me. After a moment of scattered voices, Claudia began, “Ariana, Nick is asking whether, if he dies, can you forgive me and Mom?”

“I can’t. That’s Impossible!” Pounding my fists weakly against the window, I began to resent Nicholas for harboring such thoughts.

“The dead can’t protect the living! I would risk my life to ensure they don’t escape!”

Nicholas probably said this because he still wasn’t sure about what Claudia and Frances had done. If he did, he wouldn’t still be speaking up for them.

“Unless you live well, you can’t protect them!”

Holding back my tears and fear, I threatened him, “If you come down from the rooftop now, I promise I’ll talk to you properly and tell you everything that happened. If you’re willing to meet me, I’ll wait at the place. we agreed on for a fresh start!”
