Chapter 186 The Man in Black
Outside the Lamont’s manor, there was a taxi parked, with a man wearing black clothes and a black mask sitting inside.
The man kept smoking, and the driver complained to the person in the rearview mirror, “Hey, sir, if you want to smoke, please get out of the
car.”
Although we arrived at the destination, he didn’t get out of the car and kept smoking inside. The driver endured for a while but couldn’t bear it anymore.
The man remained silent and took out two one–hundred dollar bills from his bag, handing them to him. He said calmly, “Wait for another ten minutes.”
Ten minutes?
Two hundred dollars!
The driver happily took it and immediately felt that the smell of the cigarette had become more fragrant.
After a while, Rosalie walked up to the car, opened the door, and got in.
She glanced at the Lamont’s manor in front of her and a mischievous smile played on her lips. “So, have you come to inspect your assets?”
The man in black did not speak. He extinguished the cigarette and flicked her forehead, saying, “Not yet.”
“Not now, and it won’t be in the future either,” she leaned against him

and affectionately touched his beard, “I never thought we would have a day like this.”
The man held her hand back and smiled meaningfully, “As long as he doesn’t die, we will never have a day like this.”
Rosalie’s face stiffened slightly, and she chuckled, “How could that be? Only you have touched my body, and my body only feels for you.”
The man in black chuckled lightly, not exposing her, and glanced casually at the villa.
I didn’t expect that he would come back one day.

Underneath a dilapidated house in the outskirts of Wellfort, there was a black sedan parked.
Two people got out of the car. The man was wearing a simple white windbreaker, with a brown scarf around his neck. His hair was soft and his facial features were finely carved. The girl beside him was wrapped in a long white down jacket, with a fair and delicate face, and her facial features were unbelievably beautiful. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
“He used to live in there,” Derrick pointed at a small house and said.
Claudia was amazed by the landscape here as soon as she walked into the courtyard. Although it was an old neighborhood, the houses had been deliberately transformed by the owners. There were small bridges, flowing water, flowers, plants, and even insects and fish, everything was complete. There was also a small vegetable garden next to it, which was both practical and beautiful. It was not difficult to see that the owner of the house was someone who valued sensory experiences and practicality.
Derrick approached and pressed the doorbell, and a lazy and impatient
voice came through the intercom, “Who is it?”
“Zhou Ge, it’s me,” Derrick coughed.
“Who were you?”
The atmosphere instantly became so quiet that one could hear a pin drop.
Derrick’s face stiffened: “Derrick.”
The door opened.
Derrick took Claudia inside.
Unlike the orderly scene outside, the interior design of the house leaned toward technology. Roger was playing a game when he saw them coming in. He immediately took off his headphones and pointed to the sofa, saying, “Feel free to sit.”
Roger stood up, tall and slender, with handsome features, but he had a full beard on his face, which gave him an artistic temperament.
He poured a glass of water for each of the two people.
Claudia took a sip gently, warm tea flowed into her stomach, dispelling the chill.
Roger gave her a glass of water, and gave Derrick tea.
This person was indeed very careful.
Roger had just sat down when the doorbell rang again.
“Is Mr. Rowe available?”
The person outside the door seemed very anxious, and couldn’t wait any longer before shouting impatiently, even before the doorbell was
answered.
Hearing the sound, Claudia’s gaze sharpened.
It was Rosalie.
Roger raised an eyebrow and looked at them, asking, “Your friend?”
Claudia sneered, “It was an enemy.”
Roger laughed “haha” as if he had discovered a new continent, and smirked, “Well, I really want to see what the enemy of a beautiful woman looks like.”
After saying that, he pointed to the room next to him and said, “Why don’t you guys go to that room and take a break?”
This meant that I had to see Rosalie first.
Claudia had just wanted to speak when Roger had already stood up and walked toward the door.
Claudia frowned and, prompted by Derrick’s gaze, eventually walked into the adjacent room and closed the door.
If Roger had truly acted as Rosalie’s defense lawyer, although he couldn’t completely exonerate her of the crime, he could have reduced the charges.
Before she arrived, she had been researching Roger’s information all the way. This person is really amazing, he can even defend himself and escape from the death penalty.
The online evaluations of this person were also mixed, as he defended both good people and murderers.
Because of this, she was worried that he would really take on Rosalie’s
case.
Even if there was evidence, Rosalie may not have faced legal sanctions if he had personally appeared in court.
After seeing Roger, Rosalie was momentarily stunned, then she walked in carrying large and small bags.
Roger raised an eyebrow and asked, “What’s this?”
Rosalie’s heart pounded, blushing, she said, “This is a bottle of white wine that my friend has been collecting for over a decade, and it’s for you.”
“Oh, you know I have a good taste!” Roger laughed heartily, “Then I won’t hold back.”
Upon hearing these words, Claudia’s heart sank heavily.
I didn’t expect Rosalie to have figured out someone’s preferences, and Roger even accepted them!
She took a deep breath and placed her hand on the handle, ready to open the door and rush out. Derrick stopped her and pointed at the peephole on the door.
“Wait and see,” Derrick whispered.
Claudia remained silent for a few seconds, adjusted her breathing, looked into the cat’s eye, and took in the view outside.
“Mr. Rowe, Edmond asked me to come and find you earlier, but I had too many things to attend to, so I apologize for only coming today.” At the moment Roger accepted the drink, the stone in Rosalie’s heart was lifted.
Dempsey froze her card, and these wines were still exchanged by her
with hundreds of thousands worth of jewelry. As luck would have it, Roger actually accepted them.
Once it was received, things became much easier.
Roger smiled and waved his hand, “It’s not too late, it’s not too late. Even though Mr. Lamont had an accident… our agreement won’t change.”
Upon hearing these words, Rosalie’s eyes welled up with tears.
She was always haunted by Edmond’s death.
“If Edmond were still here, I wouldn’t have received any court summons. He would have helped me fend off everything.”
Rosalie’s voice trembled with a sob.
The atmosphere instantly became heavy.
Roger remained silent for a few seconds, and then his face returned to seriousness.
“Ms. Clayton, tell me the truth, did you harm Claudia’s grandmother?”
Rosalie’s face froze.
“Since you have asked me to be your defense lawyer, you must be honest with me. Even a murderer can have a lawyer, as everyone has the right to a defense. I can only provide you with a proper defense if I know the true situation.”
Roger lazily sat down, opened his thermos, and a scent of alcohol filled the air. He picked up the wine that Rosalie had brought over, immediately opened a bottle, and poured it into his thermos with a gurgling sound.
“The wine was good!”
Roger took a sip and his eyes lit up.
Rosalie saw how much he liked her wine, so she let go of her guard and whispered, “Since you are my lawyer, I will tell you the whole truth, hoping that you can help me.”
“Claudia’s grandmother… did indeed die because of me.”
