Shattered Illusions: Love, Lies, and Redemption

Chapter 755

"Mrs. Madden, how could I ever think that way? I know you're looking out for me. Otherwise, what would it be? A deliberate attempt to target me?" Lizetta flashed a grin and winked at Laura, who was standing in front of her. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

"Liz, as long as you understand me, that's all that matters. After all, joining Madden Media is like your grandparents entrusting you to me. If you were to get sick or overly exhausted, I'd have a hard time explaining it to them."

Lizetta could clearly sense the declaration of authority over Madden Media in her words. Her lips curved into a playful smile, "Mrs. Madden, please don't think like that. Madden Media is first and foremost a part of the Madden Group. Working hard for my own family's company, even if it tires me out, is only natural. Besides, my grandfather wanted me here to gain experience. If Mrs. Madden doesn't let me do anything, it would go against his wishes."

"Maybe I was too worried about you and started overthinking. Since that's the case, hand your phone to Laura. I'll talk to her."

Lizetta sweetly said, "Thank you, Mrs. Madden." She handed the phone back to Laura, and after Eartha gave a few instructions, Laura hung up.

Laura turned to Lizetta with an apologetic and awkward smile, "Miss, I'm sorry. I contacted President Madden earlier also for your health's sake. Please don't take it the wrong way."

Lizetta smiled lightly, "No worries. It must have been tough on you, Laura, pretending not to know who I am even though we've met."

Laura's smile strained a bit more upon catching the tease in Lizetta's words. She walked over to her desk, changing the subject, "Miss, President Madden has already instructed me to assign you the most challenging project in the department." She pulled out a folder from the drawer and handed it to Lizetta.

"This project could significantly benefit our company's growth this year. The two most talented team leaders in the department have already attempted it but to no avail."

Lizetta took the folder and quickly glanced through it, her eyes briefly flashing. "Starlight Group's tenth anniversary celebration and promotional shoot?"

The last thing Lizetta wanted was to

be involved with the Starlight Group. After all, she had worked there as an office clerk and was well-known among its staff. Taking on this project would inevitably lead to interactions. She and Remington had a secret marriage and were now divorced-a messy situation she preferred to avoid.

Was Laura aware of this connection and intentionally chose this project to challenge her? Moreover, was this project specifically designed to put her in a difficult position? If Lizetta refused, Laura could use it as an excuse to sideline her further. It wouldn't be Laura denying her opportunities but her own refusal to take on the task.

"Yes, Miss, you must be aware that the Starlight Group is the largest corporate entity in Zion City. This year marks their tenth anniversary. Securing this project for Madden Media would elevate our status and easily open up the entire Zion City market for us. Having our stars attend the anniversary would also be beneficial for their careers. All in all, numerous advantages, as you can see. I believe this project won't be a problem for you?"

Laura laid out the pros and cons convincingly. And Lizetta found herself agreeing with those reasons. Keeping personal and professional lives separate. Quietly contemplating, Lizetta looked at Laura's hopeful and encouraging smile and closed the folder.

"Alright, I'll give it a try."

"That's the spirit. I'll have Lilian assist you, looking forward to you cracking this tough nut." Laura beamed with joy.

As Lizetta was about to turn away, Laura sat back down and added, "Oh, and Miss, please remember to knock next time you come in. Thank you."
