Chapter 32
Chapter 32 Scandalous Write–Up
Sienna was over the moon. After waiting for so long, she could finally claim the man before her as her own
proposed to her now, she would definitely say yes.
Despite being the topic of conversation, Jake pursed his lips and did not respond to the toast. He remained in his seat, unmoving and sullen, his brows tightly knitted. He was still thinking about Gwen as she strode away from him.
Noting everyone’s awkwardness while waiting for the toast to happen, Caitlin prompted, “Jake, come on! Say something before this dinner turns into a total bore fest.”
“Yes, Jake. Surely no one is happier than you to have gotten rid of that wretched woman, yet your expression says otherwise,” Sarah chided.
She shot a pleased look at Sienna and added, “I won’t ask for much, only that you marry Sienna as soon as possible. I’ll be a grandmother soon!”
Sienna blushed and said, “Mrs. Hall, we’ll need to wait for Jake’s schedule to free up.”

Jake stared at the three women before him and said icily, “No one will mention a word of my divorce to Grandma.”
Sienna froze. What did he mean by that? Was he saying he had no plans to marry her or give her child a rightful place in the Hall family?
She blinked, and tears sprang to her eyes as she asked, “What about me and the baby, Jake?” Her hand fluttered to her stomach as teardrops fell on her red dress.
Jake took a deep breath and leashed his temper, which he knew was close to flaring, before answering, “I’ll take responsibility for this, Sienna. I’m heading upstairs. All of you, carry on without me.”
He left the three women at the table and went upstairs alone.
The shock did not wear off Sienna for a while as she stayed in her seat. She was right. Jake truly could not let go of
Gwen.
A vicious gleam flashed in her eyes as the realization dawned upon her, and she vowed to make Gwen pay for this.
Next to her, Caitlin and Sarah hurried to comfort her. “Sienna, a divorce is no celebratory matter, even for Jake. Let’s just give him some space for now.”
“Yeah, Sienna. You’re my favorite person. Jake’s probably still too traumatized from his last marriage to ask for your hand now, but just give it a few days. I’m sure he’ll turn up with a bouquet and get down on one knee soon!” From NôvelDrama.Org.
When Sienna made no reply, Sarah and Caitlin exchanged a conflicted look.
The next morning, Gwen was reviewing documents when Yara stormed into her office. “Babe, you will not believe what Jake did! That moron will be the death of me!”
Gwen asked, “What happened?”
Yara handed Gwen her phone. The latter took it, saw the page open before her, and smirked. “It seems he has a talent for storytelling.”
The headlines for the day were written in bold and bright letters: “From Rags to Riches: A Cheating Princess‘ Fall From Grace.”
The write–up mainly detailed how a certain CEO’s wife, Mrs. H, his former mistress and secretary whom he secretly married, cheated on him with a billionaire in Dornwick out of greed. After dumping her scorned husband, she sold his company for parts and stole his billion–dollar fortune from under him.
The article was accompanied by a picture of Gwen meeting with the collaborators in Dornwick.
Hateful comments flooded the section under the article. One of them read, “Shameless wench! As if she can rip off a billion–dollar fortune!”

“I heard the CEO in question is Jake Hall of Hall Group, which means the article is about Gwen Lawson, his secretary!”
“I knew she looked like a scheming witch from the start! Ladies, unleash hell проп her!”
Yara gritted her teeth, seething, “Jake is a bridge–burning jerk and an idiot! How dare he kick you down the ladder after divorcing you?”
She spun around to look at Gwen, only to see her unaffectedly scrolling through the comments.
Having read the comments, Gwen commented nonchalantly, “It’s quite a sordid tale, and it has pictures for visual aid too. I’d say the writing is pretty good for a tabloid.”
Yara sputtered in disbelief. “How very magnanimous of you.”
Just then, Judy called. “Hey, Gwen. I just looked into the write–up about you that’s been circulating on the internet. The person who paid for the piece goes by Sienna Charles. Do you know her?”
Gwen sneered. “That bitch.”
“Do you want me to take down the article?” Judy offered. She was the editor–in–chief of Universal Entertainment and had a say in what was published in the entertainment column.
However, Gwen’s eyes flashed with an icy gleam as she said, “No. Leave it. Where’s the fun in quietly taking down a scandalous write–up when we can fight back directly?
