Gavín gazed at the crowd, his striking features devoid of any emotion and exuding an icy chill. He conveyed Layla’s message.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” he began, “these are the snacks that Madam Layla has prepared for all of you. Madam Layla mentioned that Ms. Caldwell is new here, and she would like to express her gratitude for your assistance.”

Everyone shook their heads. “We didn’t help much. She’s too kind.”

Joanna frowned as she observed the scene, feeling uneasy and thinking it was excessive. Millie seemed to enjoy showing off, just like she did in high school. She looked like an upstart.

After Gavin had finished conveying the messages, he turned to Lainey and said, “Dr. Quinn, Madam Layla mentioned that she plans to visit you on another day. Thank you for your hard work!”

Lainey felt a rush of excitement when she heard that Layla, a legendary figure in the medical field, was coming to visit her. She couldn’t believe it. It felt like a dream come true.

“Madam Layla informed us that the department is currently busy and advised us not to overstay and disrupt your work. We appreciate your time. Please carry on with your work.”

With that, Gavin ushered everyone out.

Millie was left speechless. He didn’t even say another word to her. It was obvious that he was truly afraid of bothering everyone. Gavin left without hesitation, just as quickly as he had arrived.

“Dr. Quinn, I’m sorry. I know this is not accepted in the department. I’ll remind Grandma when I get home not to…”

Before Millie could finish her words, Lainey interrupted and said, “Professor Cadmore is also concerned about you. It’s okay. I understand!”

Then she smiled at Millie. Millie was stunned when she saw Lainey smile for the first time after spending the entire morning with her.

She looked around apologetically, feeling the need to apologize for the disturbance. However, she noticed that everyone’s eyes were shining with excitement. It was clear that receiving gifts on an ordinary day was serving as a great motivator for their work.

“Thank you, Dr. Caldwell.”

“Dr. Caldwell, if you have any questions in the future, feel free to ask us. Don’t hesitate to reach out to

us!”

That’s right. Feel free to reach out if you require any assistance. Don’t be shy.”

Millie was welcomed warmly by everyone. It wasn’t just because Layla sent gifts but also because they were exceptionally enthusiastic.

Amid friendly words, a harsh voice exclaimed, “You were bribed with something so insignificant. What

a loser.” Property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Following the sound, everyone turned to see Joanna angrily tossing the oversized gift box into the trash can. Her frustration was evident. She was also upset that Logan and the others didn’t think of getting her the same thing for work.

“That’s right. You guys act as if you’ve never seen the world. What’s so special about this?” Another woman tossed the gift into the trash can.

Joanna gave the woman a meaningful look, and Millie instantly recognized her as Joanna’s lackey.

The others snorted and continued chatting, not paying much attention to Joanna’s commotion. Unexpectedly, just as Gavin left, someone else arrived. It was Terrence’s assistant, Rowan Stewart.

He smiled warmly at Millie and said, “Ms. Caldwell, Mr. Caldwell instructed that I bring some small gifts and food for everyone as a token of his congratulations on your official appointment today.” Millie was surprised to hear that Terrence had also sent something. The gift Rowan brought over included perfume in small packages, silk scarves for the ladies, and electric shavers for the men.
