“Your ID,” He turned around and reminded Millle. Then, Millle placed her documents on the table.
The official glanced up and asked, “Are you both sure about getting divorced? There’s nothing you two can’t work out by staying together. In fact-”
“We’ve made up our minds,” Millie interrupted. There was a significant issue between them that they + couldn’t overcome–he didn’t love her.
Winston remained silent, his gaze fixed on the official. His demeanor was cold and unapproachable, and he seemed even more fierce with his icy expression.
The official went straight to the point and reminded them, “Please be aware that there’s a mandatory one–month cooling–off period for divorce. Even if you choose to proceed with your application today, it will not result in an immediate divorce. You will be required to return after one month.”
“Okay,” they replied in unison. Millie thought that this was the time they were most in sync.
The official gazed at the two of them for a moment. She seemed as if she wanted to say something. However, after a moment’s reflection, she held back.
Suddenly, the official’s phone and Millie’s phone rang almost simultaneously.
Winston glanced at Millie, who swiftly picked up her phone and took a few steps to the side. With a bright smile, she asked, “Dad, what-”
She didn’t finish her sentence, and the smile on her face froze. “Is it serious?”
Winston frowned, sensing that something was amiss. Millie abruptly ended the call and turned to Winston, only to find the official was talking on the phone.
“Can I leave the documents here and have you apply for the divorce? Can I leave first?” Millie asked. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
“What happened?” Winston was puzzled.
Millie hesitated to share the information with him, so she turned to the official. She intended to speak with her, but the official was still on the phone, repeatedly saying, “Okay, okay. I understand.”
Millie was anxious. She saw that the official was also busy, so she decided to wait for a while. However, the official didn’t hang up the phone for a long time.
Finally, after hanging up, she said, “Wait for me for ten minutes!” Then, she left her desk.
Millie was stunned and couldn’t help but glance at the time. Overwhelmed with anxiety, she urgently grabbed Winston’s arm and said, “Winston, let’s postpone this. Let’s schedule another appointment.
As she said that, she picked up the documents and strode out.
“Millie, what happened?” Winston was confused and quickly gathered his documents to chase after
her.
She opened the car door, but Winston blocked her way.
Millie was extremely panicked. With a worried tone, she exclaimed, “Something happened to my grandpa, and now he’s at Bifrost Hospital, receiving emergency treatment!”
Winston was shocked. He grabbed Millle’s wrist and sald, “You can’t drive in this state. Let me take you to the hospital.”
“No need!” Millie shook his arm off.
Winston shouted, “Millie, listen to me!”
As soon as he finished speaking, he grabbed Millie’s wrist and forcibly pulled her into his car. He was deeply concerned about Millie driving to the hospital in her current state. What if something were to happen on the way?
Simultaneously, news spread across numerous mobile phone platforms. “Mr. Arthur Caldwell suffered a sudden heart attack and has been urgently admitted to the hospital for treatment!”
Millie’s grip on her phone tightened. It was a heart attack. Arthur had always been in good health. How could he have a heart attack?
This disease was life–threatening. Millie’s tears fell instantly. She called Terrence and cried out, “Dad, how’s Grandpa?”
“They’re still trying to save him. The doctor mentioned that the situation is not looking very positive,” Terrence replied in a somber tone.
Millie immediately clenched her knee, her nails digging into her skin. “Why did Grandpa have a sudden heart attack?”
