Sweet Revenge: Jace & Emerald

Chapter 81

Emerson was now being hunted by the law. What happened was that he was about to visit Ember in the secret room when Jace saw him. The old Morgan wondered why the billionaire was there, but he chose to run when young Higginson tried to approach him.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

Meanwhile, Merly was causing a scene at the precinct after she was picked up by the police from their apartment. Mrs. Morgan couldn’t believe that her husband could do what the police were accusing them of. She vehemently denied the allegations about them being involved in Ember’s kidnapping.

After the doctor discharged Ember from the hospital, everyone went to Emerald’s house. They were extremely happy, especially Ace, who couldn’t believe how large their family had grown. He used to live with his Mom and a few friends and didn’t expect to have many grown-ups to be added to the people who loved him.

“I’m so happy that you still succeeded despite everything that family put you through,” said Ember tearfully as she gently stroked Emerald’s cheek. She still couldn’t believe that they were finally together again after more than five years.

Young Morgan smiled at her mother and said nothing more. For her, it was enough that they were together again, along with her real father and grandfather.

“I just hope they catch Emerson soon,” Mr. Landers said angrily. He was sitting beside Ember, while across from them sat Mr. Ferguson, with Ace by his side.

“The police are doing their best to find him,” Jace interjected. “Besides, Liam is with them.”

“That young man is wonderful,” Mr. Ferguson praised Liam. Given his past with Emerald, Jace felt a bit uncomfortable with the old man’s comment.

But young Morgan held his hand and gently squeezed it before offering him a knowing smile. Emerald didn’t want Jace to be guilty of what happened and what he had done to her. She wanted them to live happily, especially after knowing that there were a lot of people who loved her as well.

Jace and Emerald go to the precinct to talk to Merly the next day as Liam goes to Miami to find Donato and convince him to be a witness against Merly, who had ordered him to kidnap Ember five years ago when she was confined in the hospital. They wanted to ensure they had everything and gathered all the evidence to put the Morgan family behind bars.

“What are you doing here?” Merly asked angrily when she saw Emerald. Her eyes were full of rage as if she wanted to strangle her until she could no longer breathe. But there was a glass partition between them, and they were in separate rooms, with only a microphone and speaker allowing them to communicate.

“You have to tell us where your husband might have gone.” Emerald’s voice was calm as if she felt no anger toward the old woman.

Merly chuckled after hearing what young Morgan said, “I didn’t even know he owned that Red House!” the old woman shouted. “He kept it a secret from us, along with his money, while he let us live in that tiny, filthy apartment. For what? For your whore of a mother! So he could continue paying for her treatment, even though she only used him?”

“So, you already know everything, and I do not need to tell you,” Emerald spoke calmly. At the same time, Jace remained silent, just listening. “It’s not my mother’s fault if your husband was smitten by her. We can do nothing about it; we come from a line of beautiful women.” The young Morgan smiled at Merly sarcastically, her words causing the old woman to seethe with even more anger.

“Get out!” Merly screamed, enraged, which made Emerald laugh. “I don’t know where that demon Emerson is! And even if I did, I would never tell you!”

“I knew I couldn’t expect anything from you. You said it yourself-you didn’t even know he had money, and you and your daughter were completely clueless.”

“And what’s the reason you came here?” Merly’s eyes were still filled with fury, and her body trembled at Emerald’s words. She couldn’t accept that Emerson had kept secrets from their family and prioritized Ember over them.

“I just wanted to annoy you; what else?” young Morgan replied with a laugh. Jace, who had been watching and listening, couldn’t believe what his wife had just said. Before they arrived, she had hoped Merly would cooperate with them. But after witnessing their conversation, he realized his wife had a side to her that made him smile.

“Get out! Get out and never come back here again!”

“You’ll rot in prison, Merly Morgan, for kidnapping my Mom from the hospital five years ago. I won’t stop until you and your family pay for everything you’ve done to mine.” After that, the couple finally turned their backs on the old woman. Emerald made sure that the old woman truly had no idea where Emerson was, as the police had told them. And she knew the old woman, whom she had long believed to be her real mother, was telling the truth.

The couple left the precinct afterward. Jace couldn’t take his eyes off Emerald as they walked to the parking lot where they left their car.

“What?” young Morgan couldn’t help but ask.

“What?” Jace echoed, confused.

“You’ve been staring for a while; why don’t you just say whatever you want?” Emerald stopped walking and faced her husband, who did the same.

“Nothing. Is it wrong for me to be captivated by the beauty that comes from your lineage?” Emerald suddenly burst into laughter, and her husband joined in.

“That was just a joke!”

“For me, it wasn’t. You’re beautiful, dear wife. You’ve inherited your looks from Mommy Ember.” Jace caressed his wife’s face before giving her a gentle kiss on the lips. “You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”

Emerald smiled sweetly at her husband’s words, then cupped his cheeks and gave him a quick kiss on the lips.

“And you’re also the most handsome man I’ve ever known, Jace Higginson.”
