Chapter 910
Chapter 910
Marilyn did not suspect anything, and she actually sighed sadly for Larissa and said, “You’re working too hard!”
Larissa smiled and mocked herself. “The company’s not doing very well recently, so I’ve got to cling on to Mr. Logan Junior and make sure that I don’t get fired by him,”
After a brief pause, she asked Marilyn, “What about you? You’ve left for so long, why did you come back?”
—
“Oh, I forgot something.” Marilyn smiled dryly as she let Larissa enter the elevator. She pointed behind her and said, “Well I go get my stuff.”
Larissa asked, “Do you need me to wait for you?
“No, no, no!” Marilyn quickly refused. “You go on ahead. I have no idea where I put my stulf, so I might need to look for a while.”
“Okay, then.” Although it was already past the peak hours for work dismissal, there were still people in the office building. Larissa could not let the elevator stop at the topmost floor for so long, so she dragged the suitcase in with her. “I’m leaving. See you tomorrow.” 1
Marilyn stood outside and waved back. Her smile was kind of stiff for some reason. “See you tomorrow.”
Larissa’s big suitcase was surrounded by the “gossipy public“-which was actually just Wendy herself.
“Holy shit! This bag has got to be like eight thousand bucks!
“This necklace! It’s all real diamonds! It’s got to be like a million bucks!
“These earrings! Holy effing fuck! It’s so pretty! How the hell is your cousin’s taste so good?
“Ahhhhh! The legendary rich lady–only moisturizer! I could never bring myself to buy it! Supposedly its brightening, anti–wrinkle, and anti- aging effects are super good!”
Wendy carefully looked through everything in the suitcase. She did not stop letting cut exclamations of amazement.
Larissa covered her ears, and she regretted a little that she did not join the father and son pair to hide in the home theater. After Wendy had finally stopped. Larissa said, “Take whatever you like! My cousin bought it all anyway, so it’s not my money.”
She did not feel bad for Lewis at all.
Wendy was not a greedy cheapskate. She knew herself, and she did not take anything too expensive. She only took a few high–end skincare products that she had always wanted.
“Just this? Lanssa thought she was not taking enough. So, she shoved the “eight thousand bucks” bag and a pair of heels that Wendy had been eyeing for a very long time.
*These are too expensive. Wendy did not want to take them.
“Why are you being all polite with me?!” Larissa Insisted on giving them to her. “It’s just money, and it’s nothing compared to pur
friendship.”
“Our friendship” were the words that stabbed sharply into Wendy’s weakest spot as well as her guilt She still remembered what Vick sald about how Larissa went to the motel alone to save her.
“Lari.” Wendy threw away everything she was holding as she hugged her friend lightly. “You’re so good to me! You’re the best gift that Eve ever received from anyone and anywhere!
Larissa could guess where Wendy’s gratitude came from, but such words from Wendy made Larissa’s skin break out in goosebumps.
Similar to Larissa, Kevan, and Aster, who had been standing at the place between the Iving room and the dining room for who knew how long as they had exited the home theater, had awkward expressions on their laces.
Aster’s face was all crumpled up with disgust too. “Eww! Godma, your words are so grossi” He pretended to rub his arms like the TV show
characters.
Larissa nodded in agreement. “Yep, it’s so gross.”
