Chapter 730 Forcing Lord Caspian's Hand
Chapter 730 Forcing Lord Caspian's Hand
"Sounds like a great idea, but it's somewhat risky. What if Caspian revolts out of rage after we abduct
his family and attacks us instead? Won't we be in danger, then?"
Jerry feared Caspian from the bottom of his heart.
Zane said anxiously, "Can we do nothing but sit here and wait for our demise?"
"We should wait for a while longer. Perhaps Caspian will change his mind and rush back here. We'll be
in deep trouble otherwise," Jerry said. He could only tell his men to pester Caspian more.
"We'll be in danger if we wait any longer. Caspian has control over a massive army. If he grows
suspicious and learns that we've started a rebellion, he'll surely lay his hands on our family first and
foremost!" Kelvin was already panicking.
Jerry was at a loss on what to do, too. "No one would have thought that Caspian would be so bold as
to disobey an order from the king himself." ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
Kelvin suggested, "What if we do this? We can contact Filren and think of a way to make Caspian lose
the war before killing him, and our problems will be resolved!"
"How can we do so?" Jerry said, bemused.
"Caspian's soldiers need sustenance, don't they? We can cut their sustenance supply off, and his army
will surely lose," Kelvin said.
Jerry was suddenly enlightened. "That's a great idea! Without supplies, Caspian will surely retreat as
they will die if they advance. When he returns, we'll control the king and force him to order Caspian's
execution!"
Kelvin said with a smile, "Yes! Caspian can't continue fighting for too long if he no longer has access to
supplies."
"As expected of my eldest son," Jerry praised Kelvin. "You really have the most brilliant ideas!"
Zane felt indignant upon seeing that, so he voiced his opinion, saying, "I don't think this is a great idea,
Dad."
"How so?" Jerry asked.
Zane explained, "Caspian is now the king's successor and holds great power. I don't think we have the
means to sentence him."
"He's the Diatoranian God of War, but we can just control the king and have His Majesty order for his
execution, can't we?" Jerry said in disdain.
Zane argued, "Caspian has done countless great deeds for this country, and the other War Gods treat
him with the utmost respect.
"If the king suddenly cuts off supplies to Caspian's army, it will surely induce doubt. Besides, the four
other Champions might notice that something's amiss.
"We cannot be certain that the Champions will carry out the king's orders, too. They respect Caspian
greatly, and our plans will be thwarted if some of them assist Caspian in secret."
Jerry was feeling a bit conflicted after hearing Zane's words, and he struggled to decide.
Kelvin thought of another idea. "Didn't Caspian say that he wanted to talk to the king? We can control
His Majesty and have him tell Caspian to retreat. Won't that be enough?
"Caspian won't doubt the king's words, and he'll have no choice but to retreat. As long as he returns to
Dhord City, we can discharge him from the army and deal with him as we please!"
This was a decent idea, so Jerry said, "Let's do this. I'll call him with the king's phone and issue the
order to him myself through His Majesty!"
…
In the capital of Filren, everyone was advising Caspian. Sylvia said, "This is the first time His Majesty
has issued an order to you with the royal scepter. If you continue to resist it, you will probably face dire
consequences!"
Ylra agreed, "If this persists, Lord Caspian, His Majesty might think that you want to revolt against him,
and that'll be bad!
"Jerry, the sly man he is, will surely stir up trouble for you. He'll tell His Majesty that you plan to start a
rebellion as your achievements have overshadowed that of the king himself!"
Caspian said nonchalantly, "I have nothing to fear because my motives are pure."
"We've already invaded the capital of Filren, which is already a great deed in itself. We should return to
Diatoran now," Macy advised.
"We've occupied the capital, but the enemy hasn't surrendered yet. If we retreat now, all our hard work
before this moment will amount to nothing. I'll never let the sacrifice of my soldiers go to waste,"
Caspian said firmly.
Macy said, "Their sacrifices didn't go to waste. I was rescued by them, wasn't I?"
"I just can't figure out why His Majesty would suddenly change his mind. He was the one who wanted
to start a war, but now he's telling me to return to Diatoran," Caspian said helplessly.
Macy guessed boldly, "Maybe he ordered you to return because he encountered an unexpected
incident."
Caspian said, "Jerry said there were assassins last night, but the matter has already been dealt with.
His Majesty should be resting and recovering from his shock last night."
Macy said, "But even if His Majesty is resting, it shouldn't be Jerry who took the call. He's always been
at odds with you. Besides, every word he says is a lie. If you want the truth, you must talk to His
Majesty himself."
"I know we can't trust Jerry's words fully, but I can't contact His Majesty now. What else can we do?"
Caspian was more anxious than anyone else, to be honest.
Macy asked, "Perhaps we can call the four Champions and ask them about their situation?"
Caspian said, "They're all stationed in their war zones and don't know about what happened to the king
at all. Calling them would be pointless."
Macy replied, "Or we can try calling the king again. His Majesty should be awake now, shouldn't he?"
Caspian nodded and did just that.
Jerry was beside the phone at all times. When he saw that Caspian called, he took the call
immediately. "This is Jerry Andrews."
"I'm Caspian. Is His Majesty still asleep, Mr. Andrews?"
"Oh, it's you, Lord Caspian," Jerry answered. "He's already awake."
Caspian said, "Can you have him take the call, then? I have to discuss something important with him."
"Don't worry, Lord Caspian. I'll inform His Majesty right away." Jerry handed the phone to Balthazar. He
had woken Balthazar up and used witchcraft on him in advance.
From this moment, everything Balthazar said would be under Jerry's control.
Balthazar's voice sounded from the phone. "I'm Balthazar. What are you calling me for, Caspian?"
Caspian was elated when he heard Balthazar's voice. He quickly asked, "Why did you summon me
back to Dhord City with the royal scepter, Your Majesty? Is there an emergency in the capital?"
"You entered the central regions of Filren, Caspian. You've achieved victory in the short term, but you
shouldn't stay there for too long as it's still Filrenian territory.
"You should return as soon as possible. Otherwise, you'll be surrounded by the enemy, and that will be
dangerous," Balthazar said.
