The Beauty and the Brain

Chapter 158

Chapter 158

No matter how much Darwin protested, Marie still firmly placed him in the

army camp.

Marie wasn’t joking; there wasn’t a place that could make Darwin feel the true

meaning of camaraderie more than this one.

Moreover, the movie Marie chose for him had a great plot. If Darwin

performed well, it was possible that he could win an award at the film festival.

Marie hadn’t seen Iliana for quite some time. She heard that Iliana had injured her hand last time, and

Andres had been taking her to the hospital every day to change the dressing. Iliana’s attempts to

refuse his help were completely

ineffective.

Sasha said that Andres had completely become Iliana’s bodyguard,

accompanying her while shopping and helping her carry bags, fearing that she might get hurt again.

A week later, Marie went to the army camp to visit the “tormented” Darwin, because on the night he

joined, Darwin had posted an Instagram story with a crying emoji and a caption that read: [Wanted all

over the internet – my boss! Exploiting employees! I protest!]

The comment below left Marie nonplussed.

Sabrina wrote: [Darwin, are you alright?]

Sasha said: [Best actor, keep it up.]

Gavin commented: [Marie, awesome!]

Andres sent: [Please accept my condolences.]

Dennis typed: [I called the instructor.]

Darwin, with a puzzled look on his face, replied: [Why would I call the

Get Bo

instructor?]

Dennis replied: [During the training period, contact with the outside world

was not allowed.]

Darwin had no reply to that.

So, for the following week, Marie didn’t receive any messages from Darwin.

Dennis said the instructor had confiscated his phone.

Just now, Marie had entered Darwin’s dormitory when she heard Darwin protesting, shouting, “I want to

go out! I want to go home! Let me out!”

Marie was speechless.

Upon seeing Marie enter, Darwin was lying half-propped up in bed, his eyes

sparkling as he looked at her. However, he still lay there, weakly calling out,

“Marie! Let me out!” Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.

Marie looked at him speechlessly, “Was it really that terrible?”

Darwin’s eyes widened and his mouth opened in shock, as if he had heard

something outrageous. He asked incredulously, “Isn’t it terrifying?”

Marie walked over and pulled on Darwin, who immediately cried out

miserably, “Ouch, ouch, ouch! Don’t touch me!”

Marie asked, “Where does it hurt?”

Darwin frowned, his facial features all scrunched up, and said, “You shouldn’t

ask me where it hurts… you should ask me where it doesn’t hurt…”

Marie said, “Darwin, how come I never realized you were so cowardly before?”

“Cowardly?” Darwin became agitated and glared at Marie, “Is this cowardly? I’m just cherishing my life!

Look at those who don’t care about their lives, they run with sandbags, stand under the sun for an hour,

and get up in the middle of the night for military drills when the alarm goes off. Who can stand

that?”

Marie raised her eyebrows, “Not bad, isn’t this just normal training?”

Darwin was almost in tears, “I won’t talk to you anymore! It’s like preaching to deaf ears! A heartless

woman like you wouldn’t understand! Hurry up and tell the instructor that I need to go back to filming!”

Marie shook her head, “No way.”

“Why not?” Darwin asked.

Marie blinked and said, “The reason I asked you to come here was to experience camaraderie, but now

all you’ve experienced is hardship and exhaustion. If you go back to the production team now, this

whole week would

have been a waste.”

“I don’t care! I won’t be here anyway! I’m leaving!” Darwin felt that if he stayed any longer, he would

lose half of his life.

Marie frowned at him and said, “A big man like you can’t handle this little hardship? Practice for another

week.”

Darwin, with a sad face, said, “Why? Why don’t you try practicing for a week? Do you know how tiring it

is?”

Marie was speechless, she really knew how tired she was. Her initial training at Rodger Group was at

least ten times more exhausting. Back then, every training session, every shooting, meant whether she

could survive her future

missions or not.

“Also, the instructor made us shoot, and if our scores were bad, we weren’t allowed to eat! You try it

and see, who could stand this?” Darwin cried out, refusing to stay here.

Actually, this was expected. During each training session, there would be one or two instances of

fasting to train everyone’s endurance, as well as their ability to withstand cold, resist physical attacks,

and so on.

“What about the good grades?” Marie could only ask along with him.

“Good grades mean an extra serving of meat!” Darwin complained. He had been here for a week and

hadn’t had a single serving of meat.

In fact, inside the army camp, the training was tough. To ensure physical fitness, they weren’t given too

much meat; it was mostly bread and pickles, and even wild vegetables. This wasn’t just about ordinary

small fights; the

instructor had to teach them that, when in dire situations, even without lavish

meals, they had to survive.

While they were talking here, someone came over and called out to Darwin, “Darwin, it’s time for

training!”

Darwin, with a mournful face, said, “I don’t want to go to shooting practice.”

Marie said, “Go take a look.”

Marie insisted on taking Darwin to the shooting range. When a group of people saw a beautiful little girl

with Darwin, they teased him, saying, “Darwin! Who is this? Is she your girlfriend?”

Darwin shouted back, “What girlfriend! Would my girlfriend be this harsh! This is my boss! Exploiting

employees!”

Marie was speechless.

In fact, Darwin got along quite well with a few people at the army camp. He had been a bit mischievous

since he was young, but after spending a year with

Marie, his temperament had improved significantly. Plus, he was straightforward and easygoing, so he

quickly became friends with everyone.

Darwin wasn’t good at shooting technical stuff, but he was great at running and other things. His own

daily exercise intensity was also quite high.

The instructor arrived, and Darwin immediately ran into the line and stood in position. After listening to

the instructor’s speech, the course tasks were

assigned.

It was still a shooting competition, with three shots per round. The one with

the best score in a round could rest first.

Darwin, with a mournful face, said, “I have to practice for another class! Marie, please let me go back!”

Marie shook her head, “No, I can agree to anything else, but not this!”

Darwin frowned and shouted, “Then you should train with me too!”

Marie hesitated for a moment, then nodded, “Okay.”

This time, it was Darwin who was stunned, “Do you know how tiring it is

here?”

Marie shook her head with a smile, “I don’t know.”

Darwin said with a mischievous smile, “Then practice with me for a day, and you’ll find out.”

He thought that if he exhausted Marie, she would agree to let him go back to

filming.

“So if I can stick with it, you’ll continue training, right? I’m a girl and I can do it, you won’t chicken out,

will you?” Marie used reverse psychology.

Darwin immediately stiffened his neck and said, “Of course! As long as you

can persist, I can too!”

He couldn’t believe it. Could Marie, a woman, really endure such a terrifying and devilish training?
