The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart

Chapter 997

Brittany watched her son, Daniel, dig his heels in, and she finally relented, "Alright, I promise I won't see her on the sly." Only then did Daniel seem at ease.

After Daniel drifted off to sleep, Brittany tiptoed out of bed, tucked him in gently, and made her way back to her own room.

Lying in bed, sleep eluded her. She was cocooned in layers of nightmares, bound by invisible ropes, unable to break free from the relentless grip of her bad dreams until dawn cracked the sky.

Taking a couple of days to gather herself, Brittany officially took the reins of the Lynette Conglomerate's jewelry division-YULI.Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

The Lynette Conglomerate had its fingers in many pies, but the jewelry brand was a relatively small fish in their big corporate pond. Founded seven years ago, YULI had never quite sparked to life in Craneville, especially when compared to Brittany's own startup, Bri-jeweled Studio.

At the company's headquarters, in the design department, the buzz was palpable.

"Have you heard? Ms. Lynette is coming to our company soon."

"Which Ms. Lynette?"

"Brittany Lynette, the founder of Bri-jeweled Studio."

"Why would she come to our little branch? The Conglomerate barely bats an eye at us. Why would Ms. Lynette parachute in?"

"Ms. Lynette is Mr. Lynette's only daughter. If she's dropping in, it's probably to jazz up our numbers. Once she gets results, she'll likely be pulled back up."

"Ms. Lynette's got chops; we might actually have a shot now."

Word spread quickly, and the entire staff of YULI braced for her arrival.

At 9:30 AM sharp, the elevator reached the ground floor, and the doors slid open. Brittany emerged, sharp in a black business suit.

"Ms. Lynette," greeted Jared, the branch manager, stepping forward briskly. "Right this way, please."

Brittany nodded in greeting. "Let's start with a tour of the company."

Jared led her to the freshly prepared office.

For Brittany, this was her first visit to YULI, and as Jared reported, she felt a headache coming on.

YULI was in worse shape than she had imagined. Whether in design or style, they were miles behind current trends, which explained their lackluster performance over the years. "Ms. Lynette, that's the situation in a nutshell. What's your plan?"

Jared's face was a mask of respect, but inwardly, he resented Brittany. He had clawed his way up to the position of manager over seven years and had hardly settled in before Brittany parachuted into YULI. If i weren't for her silver spoon, she wouldn't be here with such ease!

"I'll start with the financial reports, and I'll lay out the next steps after that," Brittany told Jared, motioning him to leave her to it.

She poured over the reports, spending hours wading through years of financial mess, a veritable shambles. YULI had only stayed afloat thanks to the backing of the Lynette Conglomerate.

At lunch, Brittany visited the cafeteria and noted that YULI's employee benefits were exceptionally generous: weekends off, meals provided with a balanced diet of meat and vegetables sourced from the finest ingredients, free afternoon snacks, overtime compensation, transport allowances, and housing subsidies.

But what Brittany saw wasn't just good employee benefits; it was an excess of human resources. YULI, a minor player in the market, was hemorrhaging upwards of twenty billion yearly, with revenues under two billion.

With a throbbing headache, Brittany returned home that evening and reported the situation to her father, Yuri.

"Dad, I think we need to cut staff."

Her research had shown that YULI was overstaffed with more than seven hundred people, with salaries alone costing billions each year. A significant portion of these employees were redundant. Yuri had long considered downsizing but never found the right moment. "Do as you see fit."

With her father's backing, Brittany contacted Jared that night. "Rank each department by performance. Lay off the bottom ten percent. Follow the law, and don't skimp on the severance." It was better to rip off the bandage quickly.

Jared panicked. "Ms. Lynette, starting with layoffs the moment you arrive could stir discontent among the staff, don't you think?"

"
