Chapter 10: A family discount on coffins.
Daniel and Anya got into the car and he drove off.
“Please drop me at Star tech up ahead,” she told him.
“Why?” he asked.
“I have a meeting,” Anya said. She had finished the project her college classmate had given her and was going over to meet him.
Daniel frowned at her words but did not ask questions. She had a meeting in Star tech? He had never been interested in her life and he did not plan to start now.
He drove over to Star Tech and attempted to drop her off at the front door, to her absolute
horror.
“Please stop a bit away!” she screamed at him, while she lowered her head so as not to be seen
by others from the outside.
Anya had thought it through. Very few people knew she was married to Daniel, but a lot of people saw Daniel and Selene as a couple. If she was seen with him, she would not be able to explain that he was her husband. Daniel himself may deny it.
It was shameful to say, but even if Anya was legally married to Daniel, she did not want to be seen with another woman’s man, even if that man was her husband.

Daniel was not sure why she wanted to stop far from t parked far from the building. Anya looked around to see if there was anyone around, before jumping out of his car and dashing away.
Anya entered the building and called her friend. She took a while talking to him before she was ready to leave.
Just as the both of them stepped out of the conference room, she saw a face she had not seen. in years. It was her cousin. Her mother’s niece standing there in office attire staring at her in shock
She shook her friend’s hand and received her pay before leaving. As though he knew she was done, she received a call from Daniel.
“Come down, I am waiting for you,” she heard Daniel order. His voice seemed colder than she recalled. She swallowed at his words and adjusted her mind. She must not argue. Even though he had said he would not kill her, this was a dangerous man. No, could he even be called dangerous? He was ruthless. If she made a mistake, she would get killed.
Anya suddenly recalled the situation she was in when she heard his voice.
“At the basement parking lot?” she asked tentatively.

“Yes, I was raised this way. I did not have time to have any etiquette. I was busy working three jobs and barely surviving. Go ahead and ask my mother how she raised me. You seem to think she is the weak daughter you threw away. You should meet my mother’s poisonous tongue to gain some wisdom. If we are lucky she will curse you to an early grave so that we can finally have some peace,” Anya chuckled lightly.
Daniel could not help but look her way as he drove. He did not know she was this sharp tongued. Her words shocked him.
“You would curse at me?” Old Madam Jones asked as though she could not fathom the idea.
“Why not? If you don’t curse at your enemies and curse at evil, what is the use of curses? I have even cursed at the devil since he could not even collect your soul after so long. If demons like you can roam the mortal world, it is proof that the devil is incompetent,” Anya sneered.
The old woman took a deep breath over the phone.
“Wish me dead if you like. I just answered this. Where are you in Star tech today? What were you doing there?” Old Madam Jones asked.
“So, that is why you called. I saw dear little cousin Kelsey today and now you are calling. But what I do not understand is, what does my business have to do with you?”
“Stop beating around the bush and answer. That is Kelsey’s place of work. Why did you show up there to meet the CEO?” she asked.
“It can’t be she is going to claim I am the reason she does not do well at work or you are going to ask me to put in a good word for Kelsey right?” Anya asked and the old woman was silent on the other end.
Anya could not believe she guessed right. She was nearly speechless at the accuracy of her guess. All her anger deflated and her voice took a softer tone.
