The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday

Chapter 23

"But... Mr. Sutton, you've always wanted to see Ms. Dawson buckle under, right?"

"I want her to realize that she's utterly alone and without hope." A cold glint flashed in Kieran's eyes as he said, "I want her apologizing to Ellie on her knees."

Meanwhile, Freya had been shopping at the mall, picking out a few luxury skincare products. As she was about to head downstairs for coffee, she glimpsed a conspicuous bodyguard in a black suit trailing her. His presence was so eye-catching that it drew a crowd. Shaking her head with a light chuckle, Freya couldn't help but think highly of Kieran for having someone watch over her. Was he concerned she might harm Eloise, or was he waiting to see her struggle with the company's affairs?

Taking her time, Freya grabbed her coffee and navigated through the crowd, with her bodyguard hustling to keep up.

She deliberately quickened her pace, blending into the sea of people until the bodyguard lost her trail.

The bodyguard reported, "Jarrett, I've lost her!"This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.

On the other end of the Bluetooth connection, Jarrett received the message from the mall and relayed it to Kieran.

"Lost her?" Kieran frowned. "Idiot! Have him wait outside the Dawson family."

As Kieran glanced at the darkening sky outside, he said, "We should head home, too."

"Yes, Mr. Sutton."

Jarrett drove Kieran to the grand entrance of the Sutton Mansion.

"Mr. Sutton, given the situation with Ms. Harwood, Mrs. Sutton has been quite upset these few days. It might be best to apologize to her," Jarrett suggested.

"She is my grandmother, after all."

Upon entering the living room, Kieran heard the sound of laughter.

"You always know how to make me laugh and cheer me up," Audrey said, bringing a frown to Kieran's face.

He wondered, 'Why is Grandma suddenly in such high spirits after days of sulking?'

As Kieran walked inside, he saw Freya applying a facial mask on Audrey, with a table full of skincare products Freya had bought from the mall. They seemed to be enjoying a lively chat. Seeing that, Kieran's expression darkened. So that was why Freya hadn't come to him for a compromise. She had gone straight to his grandmother to curry favor!

He thought he had seriously underestimated this woman. "Freya! Who allowed you here?"

The atmosphere turned icy instantly, yet Freya ignored Kieran's presence, smiling at Audrey, "Audrey, does your skin feel better now?"

Audrey patted Freya's hand, smiling contentedly, "Much better, my dear! You know how to make me happy far more than my grandson."

"Please don't say so, Audrey. If Mr. Sutton gets upset, he'll take it out on me," Freya said, her voice gentle but her words direct.

The response infuriated Kieran further. Since he had entered, Freya hadn't even spared him a glance. And she was complaining about him to his grandmother right to his face. Kieran wondered, 'Is this playing hard to get, or is it just deliberate provocation?'

The next second, Audrey turned solemn. She looked at Kieran and asked, "Kieran, I told you to apologize to Freya. Did you do as I asked?"

"Grandma, I've apologized to Ms. Dawson," Kieran said, his gaze fixed on Freya, teeth clenched. At that moment, he felt an intense urge to confront her directly!
