Chapter 106
Chapter 106
Without waiting for her answer, he murmured to himself, “I have hated someone immensely. I have thought numerous times about how I’ll retaliate when I do find her one day. But on her birthday. I’ll still feel uncomfortable. It seems only when I’m with you do I feel more at ease and calm”
Rosalie closed her eyes as though she had fallen asleep and said nothing.
“Or perhaps, he actually wished that she was asleep. He didn’t want her to hear those words,” Rosalie guessed inwardly. In such a case, she could naturally pretend to have fallen asleep.
“I think maybe I want to see her again sooner, so I can take revenge. No matter where she hides, one day, I will find her and let her know what it feels like to be betrayed or tortured by one’s immediate family,” Jonathan continued.
His voice continued to echo through the room, and his tone was tinged with a hint of hostility
Rosalie trembled slightly and wondered, “Immediate family? Could it be that the person he hated and wanted to take revenge on is his mother?”
She remembered he had once told her that his mother had abandoned him and his father.
“If what he said at that time was true. I’m afraid that his mother will. Rosalie shuddered to continue with her thoughts.. Jonathan was the local tyrant of Strico. Who could withstand his revenge?
Rosalie unconsciously thought of her three years in prison.
“Rosie, don’t be the one I hate in my life. Okay?” When he said that, it sounded as if a might breeze had brushed past and echoed through the room.
The blood in her body seemed to have frozen over suddenly.
Actually, he had known all along that she was awake.
That night passed just like that. The morning after, when Rosalie woke up at about 4 am and planned to go to work, Jonathan was no longer in the room.
That surprised her, and she wondered, “When did he leave””
But she was relieved too; at least there would be less embarrassment being face-to-face.
Looking at the pair of unfinished gloves, Rosalie thought it might be better to have it done quickly so that Jonathan and she could go their separate ways sooner after the gloves were completed.
At the other end, Jonathan was sitting in the backseat of the car. He leaned against the seat, closed his eyes, and gently rubbed his forehead with one hand. After all, he had barely slept that night.
When Rosalie had fallen asleep, he had sat up and looked at her sleeping countenance.
In the past, he had never felt that one’s sleeping countenance was anything good to look at. But when it came to her, it became an exception. It was as if looking at her sleeping face was something he could never get tired of
“Are we going back to the Youngblood residence now, Mr. Youngblood?” Carlos asked.
“Hmm, Jonathan answered lightly. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
When they were halfway through, Carlos’ phone rang. As he answered the call, his facial expression changed. Then, he reported to Jonathan, ‘Mr. Leonard Youngblood’s condition is getting worse, Mr. Youngblood. The doctor is trying to resuscitate him. Do you want to go to the hospital**
His eyes shot open, and Jonathan instructed, “Go to the hospital.”
The driver immediately turned around and drove toward the hospital.
When Jonathan arrived at the hospital, Leonard was still being resuscitated. Jonathan stood outside the emergency room with an indescribably complex feeling.
No matter how tough Leonard used to be, at that time, he was merely surviving, lingering on feebly.
In his opinion, his grandfather used to be powerful, cruel, and cold. His only familial affection seemed to have been given to his short-lived son.
Others seemned to be just pawns to him, including his grandson.
Leonard had always regarded him as the future successor of the Youngblood family, instead of a grandson. In fact, there was
no familial love between them at all.
Two hours later, the door of the emergency room opened. The doctor exited and informed Jonathan, “We managed to save him. But Mr. Youngblood is of advanced age, and he has undergone several operations before. Now, it’s just a matter of how long he can carry on. If it’s good, it’ll be years. But if it’s worse, it can be months.”
Jonathan naturally understood the cycle of life. Regardless of how much money one had, no one can control life or death.
Leonard was sent to the ICU for post-operation observation.
Two days later, Leonard was out of the ICU. Jonathan could finally meet Leonard face-to-face.
*I heard that you were waiting outside when I was in the emergency room that day?” asked Leonard. His voice was softer than before and sounded weak after the operation.
“Yes,” Jonathan answered softly.
“That must’ve been hard for you that you’re willing to wait outside the hospital room for me,” Leonard stated.
Jonathan looked at Leonard indifferently and asked, “Grandpa, you’ve sent a message saying you wished to see me. I don’t suppose you wish to tell me that?”
Leonard let the nurse assist him with a few sips of water and requested the others in the room to leave. Then, he looked at Jonathan and said, “I’ve checked that woman named Rosalie. A woman like her is not suitable for you. You can choose from. the many socialites in Strico and pick anyone that you like,”
“Whether she’s suitable or not is not up for you to say, Grandpa. What I say holds,” Jonathan retorted directly.
Leonard and Jonathan looked at each other, and there seemed to be tension in the air.
After a while, Leonard finally cleared his throat and sighed. As expected, he was getting old. He had cultivated his grandson into a qualified heir, only to realize that the growth of his grandson had exceeded his expectations.
At present, the beast had grown, and he, himself, had become one who could not control the beast,
“In other words, you think she’s suitable for you?” Leonard pressed on.
“Is that important?” Jonathan shot back instead of answering.
The expression on Leonard’s face darkened further, and he asked exasperatedly, “Then, tell me honestly, do you love her?”
His aged and turbid eyes were fixed on Jonathan. It was as though he wanted to take in the latter’s every single change in hist facial expression.
Jonathan met the elder’s eyes. If it had been before, he would have said no. He knew from a very young age that love hurt people. Therefore, he had not planned on falling in love with anyone in his life.
But now, it seemed that he could not say that conscientiously.
It appeared that, unconsciously, that woman’s position in his heart had become more crucial. Even after she refused him once, he continued to interact with her. It was almost like he was reluctant to part ways with her completely and for them to remain strangers.
“I don’t know,” Jonathan replied. He knew Leonard had never willingly let go of his love for women. For Leonard, women were just a breeding instrument to carry on the Youngblood family.
