The Ceo’s Convict Wife

Chapter 115

Chapter 115

Rosalie’s role as a background actor that day was to act as a servant. She simply needed to stand in the designated position as instructed by Samuel, keeping her head down. Besides, she was not the only servant, and there was a group of them. When the main character passed by, they all had to kneel down in unison and bow their heads, following Samuel’s commands, and say, “Mister, may you have good fortune and peace! Madam, may you have good fortune and peace!” That was all.

Due to a kneeling scene, the wage was temporarily increased by 10 dollars. So Rosalie would earn a total of 25 dollars.

Rosalie thought it over and decided to go ahead with the kneeling scene. After all, it was just acting. No matter how famous a celebrity was, they had encountered kneeling scenes in their roles. Besides, when survival became an issue in many situations, the importance of one’s pride took a back seat.

There was a dressing room for background actors with several makeup artists. Both male and female background actors were queuing up in that dressing room, waiting for the makeup artists to do their makeup.

Each makeup artist worked quite quickly as well, managing to complete one person’s makeup in about five to six minutes.

When it was Rosalie’s turn, the makeup artist exclaimed, “Huh? You have a scar on your forehead!”

Rosalie’s body trembled slightly, then she responded, “Yes. The scar was located in an area near the hairline on her forehead. If one did not look closely, one could not point it out at all.

The wound was inflicted by someone on her in the prison. Later, the scar formed due to negligence in proper care.

Rosalie also understood why the makeup artist mentioned it. It was because the hairstyle of the servant that day required the front bangs to be all combed down, exposing the area where the scar was. Without any cover, the scar became faintly visible.

“Is it a big deal? Can I still play the servant role?” Rosalie asked with a sense of unease. Initially, she was worried Yvette would pick on her, but now she was concerned about whether she could retain this background acting job.

“It’s all right. Just use a slightly thicker layer of foundation to cover it up, the makeup artist reassured and quickly finished applying makeup for Rosalie.

Rosalie looked in the mirror. As expected, the scar was not visible.

As she walked out of the dressing room and waited for her turn to go on set, she unexpectedly spotted a familiar figure walking toward her.

It was not Yvette, but Loretta.

Rosalie was stunned. She did not expect Loretta to be in that film crew, apart from Yvette.

At that moment, Loretta behaved like a celebrity. She was accompanied by several assistants, some holding umbrellas, some carrying her bags, and there was even one by her side reciting lines from the script, helping to reinforce her understanding of the scenes she was about to shoot today.

Loretta’s steps paused as she turned her gaze toward Rosalie. The former hesitated for a moment, then a smile appeared on her lips as she approached the latter. “Well, well… Are you here to be a background actor today?” the former asked knowingly.

After all, the outfit Rosalie was wearing, depicting the role of a servant from the film, had already revealed everything.

Rosalie looked at Loretta, feeling somewhat surprised. The present Loretta was clearly no longer just a C-list actress. Her demeanor and confidence now seemed more like that of an A-list actress.

At that time, Loretta had riot even changed into her costume yet. She was wearing luxury brand clothes and adorned with jewelry. The value of that ensemble alone was likely worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Rosalie did not believe Loretta would resort to using knock-offs. After all, the latter cared a lot about her reputation. If she were caught wearing knock-offs, the embarrassment would be akin to losing her life for someone like her.

“Yes,” Rosalie did not dodge and responded graciously.

Most importantly, that job did not involve theft or deceit. It was about earning money through labor.

“Why didn’t you think of reaching out to me if you want to act as a background actor? I may have even arranged a few lines for you to say. That can let you earn much more than being a background actor, Loretta said, deliberately raising her hand to adjust her hair and subtly displaying the luxury watch on her wrist.

Rosalie found Loretta’s gesture somewhat ridiculous. “I have never considered asking for roles with just a few extra lines from someone who manipulated her own sister into becoming an escort,’ she replied.

“You… Loretta’s expression changed. She realized Rosalie was alluding to the past incident where the former had made the later accompany the assistant director to drink wine for a role. However, soon after, as if a thought occurred to her, she sized up Rosalie and remarked. “Are you in dire need of money now? Is that why you’re being a background actor? Don’t you have anyone giving you money? Do you really have to earn this kind of hard-earned cash?”

“I don’t need to report to you” Rosalie ignored Loretta and directly walked past her, heading for the place where the background actors gathered and waited for their turns to be on set.

Loretta frowned, hesitated for a moment, then instructed her assistant beside her, Gina, “Go and find out more about that woman named Rosalie just now. Investigate her background and how much information about her that the person who introduced her to work here knows. The more detailed, the better.” Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

“What’s Jonathan and Rosalie’s relationship?” Loretta pondered, but she could not figure it out

If the woman she saw Jonathan carrying into the car that day was Rosalie, then the latter had no reason to become a background actor. Rosalie was not enthusiastic about the entertainment industry in the first place. If she needed money, she could have just told Jonathan. Besides, being a background actor only earned a small amount of money.

While Loretta was getting her makeup done, Gina finally gathered information and reported it to her.

“What? She is still working at the Environment and Sanitation Administration? And she was introduced to be a background actor by a street sweeper from the Environment and Sanitation Administration?” Loretta asked incredulously.

“Yes, and Jeremy mentioned the person who introduced Rosalie said she seemed to be in need of money and wanted to earn some extra income,” Gina replied.

Upon hearing that, Loretta seemed to have finally let go of a heavy burden in her heart.

Loretta thought. “It seems Rosalie is not in a relationship with Jonathan. Or I could say that even if they have been together. before. their relationship has now clearly ended or deteriorated. Otherwise, why would Rosalie be in a position where she needs to work as a background actor for money?”

Previously, Loretta was genuinely concerned about the relationship between Rosalie and Jonathan. If there was really nothing between them. then there would be certain matters she would not need to be so cautious about.

Thinking about how her chance to become the female lead was ruined because of Rosalie’s imprisonment and how she was. forced to become a third-rate actress, she tried to seize an opportunity to vie for a role. Loretta had only asked Rosalie to spend some time with the assistant director, but it ended up backfiring, and she was slapped by the assistant director instead.

After that, Loretta’s path in the entertainment industry became even more disastrous.

During that time, all Loretta wanted was for Rosalie to help her secure a better role from the latter’s ex-boyfriend, Zachary. However, the latter firmly declined the former’s request.

Rosalie could have easily saved Loretta’s fate by swallowing her pride a little and pleading with Zachary. However, Rosalie chose not to do so.

If it were not for her encounter with Calvin later on, Loretta might never have been able to turn her life around.
