The Ceo’s Convict Wife

Chapter 147

Chapter 147

Rosalie looked tiny in the photo. Her chubby cheeks and thick hair made her look adorable.

Jonathan never expected himself to be so fascinated with the sight of a child. However, looking at the little girl in the photo, his heart was full of affection for her. He even imagined how he would not be able to resist hugging and kissing her if the tiny version of Rosalie was in front of him.

He wondered if he only found her adorable because the little girl was her when she was little. Such a feeling never happened when he saw other children.

Jonathan took out the photos one by one.

There were photos of Rosalie and her mother at first, but later there were only photos of herself.

In these photos, she seemed older than the photos with her mother. They seemed to be her when she was four, five, and six years old.

There were not many photos; at least a lot less than the previous photos of her with her mother.

Rosalie looked at the photos and said emotionally. “My mother liked taking photos with me when she was alive. There were much fewer photos of me after she passed”

She would only take photos occasionally, and most of them were of her alone. It was just like how she could not fit in with her father’s new family.

Suddenly, Jonathan narrowed his eyes and stared at one of the photos. He even stopped taking out photos from the burnt

album

“What’s wrong?” Rosalie asked in confusion.

“This photo” He paused “How old were you in it?”

Rosalie looked over to see the little girl in the photo wearing a floral dress and standing in front of a fence with lush mountains in the background

Rosalie’s eyes filled with love when she saw the photo I was probably 8 or 9 years old in that photo. I loved this floral dress. very much back then, but it was expensive. I think it cost more than 20 dollars at that time. Only people who were well-off could afford such dresses for their children. I was scared to tell Granny, but she could tell I liked the dress and determinedly saved up to buy it for me?

She would remember her grandmother’s kindness forever.

The more she grew up, the more the understood how uneasy it was for her to get the floral dress. Wilma must have been under a lot of pressure to buy her that dress. Her grandfather, Uncle Dantel, Uncle Edward, and Aunt Sarah probably blamed Wilma for spending the money like that

After all, it cost more than 20 dollars. A person’s monthly income was around 160 dollars back then, and Wilma made her money by taking on various handicraft jobs

“What was the place you lived at the time? Jonathan asked, but there was something subtly different about his voice.

“It was called Lopeza back then, but villages have now merged into towns. It’s now called Lopezania” Rosalie wondered why Jonathan asked this. He had gone to Lopezania to find her before, so there was no way that he did not know what the place

was called.

Jonathan’s eyes darkened. “Is this dress rare in your town?*

“I don’t know how rare it is in the town, but I was the only one who had such a dress in the village. My cousin was mad for a long time, saying my grandmother played favorites. She even wanted to take the dress away from me,” Rosalie said. Thinking of Fiona’s angry look back then, she childishly felt a little relieved. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

“What happened afterward? Did she take that dress away?” he asked.

“Later, I ruined the dress while I was out playing. I couldn’t wear it anymore. I also got sick after that outing. Rosalie added.

“Sick? You were sick?” His tone suddenly became nervous.

*I just had a fever for several days, which made me a little dazed. However, I’m in good health after I recovered. But the dress was unfortunately gone,” she said. Later, Wilma secretly told Rosalie that she would buy Rosalie another beautiful dress when Rosalie got first place in class in her final exam.

However, when Rosalie finally got first place in the exam, she had to leave Wilma and go back to her father.

Before leaving. Wilma secretly stuffed a new dress into her luggage.

When Rosalie was thinking about it, a big hand suddenly reached out and pressed on her forehead. Rosalie froze as she looked up at Jonathan. “L… I don’t have a fever right now.”

He muttered, “I know. I’ll buy you any dress

you want from now on.”

His statement made her heart tremble. “I’m not a child who keeps wanting dresses.” She bit her lip slightly and quickly looked down.

She just felt that the longer she looked at him, the more out of control her heartbeat was.

“Really?” Jonathan withdrew his hand, took out all the remaining photos in the album, and picked up the photo of her in a floral dress. “Will you give me this photo?”

She froze. Although he asked, his hand had already put the photo away.

“Why do you want the photo?” she asked puzzledly.

“You look cute, so I want to keep it as a collection,” he replied.

“He never liked the children in the residential area when we lived together! Why did he like the photo of me as a kid?” Rosalie wondered.

Rosalie pursed her lips slightly and said, “But I only have one photo of this floral dress.” It was also nostalgic for her, which

was rare.

It was because her grandmother bought her the floral dress!

He smiled. “That’s great. This photo is more meaningful now

His remark made her speechless. “Why don’t I give you another photo?” she said as she settled for less.

“No, I like this photo,” he replied as he bent forward, leaned closer to her face, and said, “I never change my mind about what

I like. I won’t change my mind about the photo; the same goes for people.”

Her face was reflected in his dark pupils, and Jonathan’s elegant voice seemed to surround her ear…

Rosalie could not get the photo back from Jonathan, so she could only give in.

However, she was still confused as she wondered, “Why did he insist on wanting that photo of me? Is it really because I looked cute, so he wanted to keep it as a collection?”
