Chapter 1424
Dorothy hadn't taken her makeup this seriously in ages.
She used to dab on a little foundation, maybe swipe on some lipstick, but that was the extent of her beauty routine. After all, she considered herself more of a clumsy enthusiast in the art of makeup than a pro. "Ms. Sanchez, you're absolutely stunning!"
The makeup artists had planned several looks for her, but once they saw Dorothy in person, those ideas seemed too garish. She was the type who only needed a touch of makeup; anything more would hide her natural beauty. Blushing at the compliment, Dorothy chuckled, "Well, I'm a mom of a few kids now. I can't really compete with you young folks."
"Ms. Sanchez has kids?"
The makeup artist paused, surprised. Dorothy looked young enough to be mistaken for a college student if not for her professional attire. Her beauty wasn't loud or flashy; it was subtly captivating.
"Yes," she smiled, her hand instinctively resting on her belly, a glow of happiness evident on her face. "And I'm expecting our third little one soon."
"That's wonderful. They must be adorable."
Talking about her children was a topic Dorothy could go on about forever. She shared stories about Abigail and Langston while the stylists worked on her look. When she showed them pictures on her phone, the makeup artists gathered around, cooing over them. One of them recognized Langston, "That little boy, he looks just like... the Lopez Corporation CEO! I saw him at an event a while back. He's as handsome as your son!"
Dorothy smiled, "Could it be because my husband is Everett?"
"...The CEO of the Lopez Corporation is married?"
Dorothy paused, surprised by the question.
"Weren't you sent by Everett for my makeup?"
"We'd never directly deal with Mr. Lopez. Our agency gets the assignment, and then they tell us where to go."
"Oh." Dorothy had assumed Everett had arranged everything personally.
Soon, her phone rang. It was Karen.
"Hey, Karen."
"
Dorothy was worried Karen might be calling about a disagreement with Jeffrey, as she rarely called during work hours. "What are you up to?" Karen's voice was light and cheerful.
"Getting ready. Everett mentioned an important business gala tonight and insisted I dress up. He evennovelbin
over a team." Content beloent
"Oh... That gala is a big deal! Make sure you look your best. See you there!"
"Wait, you're going too?"
"Of course! How could I miss it?"
There was a brief pause before Karen chuckled, "I convinced Jeffrey to take me. It's so boring being home alone."
"Oh, I see! Just be careful, okay? You're quite far along, and you should avoid any accidents."
"Don't worry! With Jeffrey by my side, I feel like I've got my own bodyguard!"
"That's reassuring. If there's a lull in the event and Everett's wrapped u with the business partners, I'll come find you."
Dorothy always felt a tad anxious about Karen's impulsive nature, b knowing
