The CEO’s Substitute Lover

Chapter 42: Octavia Gills Leaves

“Octavia, take it! Because of Gar’s illness, neither you nor your mother will have any savings left! If you’re too embarrassed to take it, you can give it back to me later when you have the money to spare. I also contacted an old friend of mine today who specializes in shop brokerage, and with his introduction, I signed your mother up for a shop near the entrance of the S City High School. Octavia Gills didn’t expect Eldwin to do such generous deeds, even arranging the shop making Octavia Gills feel relieved!

When her brother is well enough, Octavia Gills will be able to travel to Japan with confidence.

“Eldwin, thank you, and I also thank you on behalf of my mother!” Octavia Gills embraced the man who had been filling the role of her dad. “Eldwin, is Ms. Lilian there? I’m going to go and sort something out with her!”

“In? Be careful! Don’t get into a clash with her!”

“Octavia, you bitch, you’ve got the nerve to come to the Drye Family house! Lilian Drye, smelling of alcohol, staggered towards Octavia Gills, and kept saying nasty things to her.

“You bitch! You white-eyed wolf!”

Suddenly there was a loud slapping sound that echoed clearly through the air.

Lilian Drye covered her face in disbelief! Had she just been slapped by Octavia Gills? “You bitch, how dare you hit me?” Lilian Drye raised her hand in anger and prepared to fling it at Octavia Gills’ face, only Octavia Gills was not as meek as she usually was and grabbed Lilian Drye’s hand with one hand, holding it in mid-air with a grip so strong that Lilian Drye could neither hit nor pluck it out.

Although her mother had not mentioned the slap to her at the hospital today, how could she not have noticed the red and swollen marks on Elda’s face? Octavia Gills knew in her heart that Lilian Drye was a princess and had a proud temper. She could tolerate Lilian Drye hitting her face, but not her mother’s.

“Lilian, this slap is to pay you back for hitting my mother, no matter what, you shouldn’t take it out on my family, not to mention that you don’t need to worry that I will reveal what happened twenty years ago. That was my promise to Mr. and Mrs. Drye and I will not break it in this lifetime! You do not need to condemn me with your petty heart.”

“I can see that you aren’t as meek as a lamb with a tongue like yours. I underestimated you before! Your fox’s tail that you’ve hidden for so many years is finally showing. What did you do to seduce Tredan Davi? Tell me, I want to know!”Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

Octavia Gills shook off Lilian Drye’s hand and spoke her truest thoughts to her in a serious tone.

” Ms. Lilian, you don’t have to focus on me. I was only with him because he was very miserable and lonely during the year you were out of the country, and by coincidence, he used me as your stand-in. I was supposed to leave after you returned to China, but I postponed it because my brother was preparing for a major operation and I didn’t feel comfortable leaving him. From now on, please come to me directly if you need anything, and don’t touch my family again. That way, it’s better for you and me!” Octavia Gills took the bottle away from Lilian Drye’s table and said to her, “If you have time to drink here, you might as well go and spend your time fighting for what will make you happy!”

“Octavia, who do you think you are? Who are you to lecture me, you fatherless country girl? Who are you, you bitch, you’re a wolf, get out of here, get out of here!” Lilian Drye picked up her glass and threw it at Octavia Gills who was leaving, and when she lost sight of her, she sat on the floor and wailed! She hated Octavia Gills!

After all this, Octavia Gills feels she can no longer stay at the Davi Family home. If Tredan Davi gets engaged to Lilian Drye next Monday, Tredan Davi will be Lilian’s fianc??. It’s time for her to leave. Every day and night she spends with Tredan Davi makes her heart grow fonder, making it more painful to leave. So, Octavia Gills quickly decided on leaving and just taking care of her mother herself.

Like last time, she simply packed her clothes, cleaned the house for Tredan Davi, tidied up his study, and prepared some food and drinks to put in his fridge. She wrote a note, put a set of keys on the table and left!

Tredan,

The origin of fate is free, and the depth of love is not up to anyone.

The blossoming and falling of flowers.

All things are brought together and scattered by fate.

In life,

Who are our passing guests?

And who are passing through?

It’s not intentional, but it’s also a thin one!

Gathered by fate, warmed by love!

You are the most beautiful piece of melody in my life.

You will be happy!

Octavia Gills

During the day Octavia Gills acted like nothing was wrong in front of everyone, but when she walked out of Tredan Davi’s room with her suitcase, she recalled the beautiful and sweet images of her and Tredan, replaying them over and over like a movie, Octavia Gills couldn’t let go, really, really couldn’t let go, Octavia Gills crouched on the floor and cried feverishly, letting out all the emotions she had held down, she huddled up, hugging her legs close to her chest as she cried helplessly. But even though the pain it brought was excruciating, she had to leave here after all.

The Davi Family house was not lit up tonight when Tredan Davi returned. Standing outside the door, Tredan has a bad feeling as he looked at the old Davi Family house, which was as dark as it used to be.

“Octavia, Octavia…” Tredan Davi opened the door and went straight to the bedroom, which was empty again, and noticed the white note that was left there.

Why? Why? Did she just walk away again without telling him? Was she writing all this to say something, just to tell him that they were just passers-by? Did she want to run off to Eddison’s side in particular? Did she want to leave him that badly? There was an air of loneliness in the empty house, the bleak night was too much for Tredan Davi to bear, and his heart turned cold, again.

Tredan Davi went into his private cellar and picked up a bottle of Black Label, opened it, and filled the glass, staring angrily at the yellow liquid and swallowing it in one gulp as if he had killed a villain. He filled and refilled it, glass after glass until he had consumed most of its content. With the note left by Octavia Gills clutched in his hand, and in a stupor, Tredan Davi had drifted off to sleep.

Since that day, Tredan Davi has not gone to look for Octavia Gills, even though he knows where she lived! And Octavia Gills has not contacted Tredan Davi either, even though Octavia Gills misses him dearly in her heart.

Monday came and went without Tredan Davi and Octavia Gills getting in touch and neither did they talk to each other.

Tredan Davi and Lilian Drye’s engagement ceremony and Domino’s birthday were both being held today!

Octavia Gills remembered vividly that Tredan Davi had promised to accompany her to Domino’s birthday party but she thought better of it and put on the little dress she had prepared, even though Tredan Davi was not there.

With Domino’s transportation, Woodrow took Domino and Octavia to the private yacht club where he was going to give Domino a very different kind of birthday.

With the curtain slowly rising at Hotel Verdunaya’s lavish engagement ceremony. This seemingly joyful and calm scene hid a harbinger of turbulence.

Tredan Davi greets Lilian Drye one last time: “It’s better if you say it! I’m sorry, Lilian!”

Lilian Drye didn’t want to let go and desperately took Tredan Davi’s hand, “No, I don’t want to hear you say you’re sorry, Tredan, let’s get engaged, and let’s turn the page on the past and let it all go, okay? Let’s start again!”

How many couples can start over when it comes to relationships? And even if they do, will they be able to go back to the way they were in the beginning?

“Let’s not kid ourselves, Lilian, we can’t be lovers but we can still be family.” Hearing Tredan Davi’s irreverent language, Lilian Drye also uses her terms and power to threaten Tredan Davi.

“Tredan, have you thought about whether Group Davi would be able to survive if the Drye Family pulls out from your business, and whether it would be worse for Group Davi if I withdrew my five percent shareholding? Not only that, but your high position as President will become someone else’s. Do you want that, Tredan?”

Tredan Davi looked at Lilian Drye’s now sinister role play, he had never realized that Lilian had such a hard heart, he had missed it! Tredan Davi said nothing, he just smiled at Lilian Drye, patted her on both shoulders, and turned to leave!

“Tredan, if you dare give up on me today, you will regret it. You will regret it!” But no matter what Lilian Drye said, Tredan Davi walked away as if he hadn’t heard a word Lilian said.

When Tredan Davi disappeared from the engagement party, the Drye Family was furious and Floyd kept trying to make amends to Grimm and his wife while keeping a smile on his face.

“I have made a decision, no matter what, we must get my ungrateful son back!”

Seeing his daughter, whom he holds like a jewel in the palm of his hand, crying so bitterly was not a good feeling for Grimm! Group Drye had invested their money in Group Davi’s shitty project and Tredan Davi had not only ignored his daughter, but he had also ignored him!

“Come on, girl, let’s get out of this marriage, let’s not cry anymore, Dad’s here for you!” Grimm took a tearful Lilian into his strong embrace.

“Grimm, don’t be impulsive, don’t be impulsive! The marriage between our families was supposed to be a big deal, the banquet hall is full of family and friends, directors of both companies, and lots of journalists waiting so calm down and let us get that press away first. If we let them write nonsense there, then both the Group Davi and Group Drye will be greatly affected tomorrow, it will affect both our companies and make the stocks fall drastically as a consequence. Lilian, don’t cry, Uncle Floyd will teach a lesson to that ungrateful son of mine who made you feel aggrieved!” Floyd’s words were true enough, but Grimm was furious to hear Floyd’s seemingly unpleasant words.

“Floyd, that’s easy for you to say, because it’s my daughter who’s being bullied, and you’re not hurting, are you? I’m telling you, Floyd, if you don’t give me a good explanation of what’s happening today, you won’t hear the end of it from me!”

Ottilie, standing on the sidelines, watched the scene with a happy heart. The heavens were helping her and her son. This was Eddison’s chance to shine!

“Grimm, Floyd didn’t mean that, don’t be angry. As a woman, Lilian is a bit aggrieved, but right now we need to make a plan to deal with the reporters, otherwise, we don’t know what they will disclose to the public, and if they write something that will hurt Lilian, it won’t be good. We can’t let Lilian suffer like this!” Ottilie was Ottilie, and Floyd was glad to have this woman by his side.
