The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 112

Chapter 112

Cordelia was in a good mood, getting up before the crack of dawn to whip up breakfast for Ronan.

Today, she went all out and prepared a feast for two, complete with a seafood platter, roast chicken,

and mashed potatoes. Plus, she brewed some coffee for Ronan.

Being the CEO and all, he had a ton on his plate, not to mention he was a guy, so he probably ate like

a horse.

As Ronan came down for breakfast, his gaze fell on the lunchboxes by the table. "Are you trying to pull

a fast one on me again?" Ronan asked her.

"Nope, our meals are exactly the same." Cordelia opened the lunchbox to show him.

Ronan didn't say anything, but he looked pretty pleased.

After a moment of thought, Cordelia asked, "Where... where did you go with Deanna the other day?

The day when she had the meal I prepared."

"It was the anniversary of her father's passing."

"Oh," Cordelia seemed somewhat disappointed.

What a coincidence. That day was also the anniversary of Cordelia's father's passing, but she never

told Ronan about it. Ronan chose to accompany his first love, Deanna, back to Birchwood instead of

being with her. She had seen it coming.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Cordelia forced a smile onto her face.

"By the way, I want to return the clothes you bought for me last time. They're too flashy and not really

my style. Plus, they're way too expensive," Cordelia said. "What do you think?" NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.

"Sure, I'll have someone help you return them," Ronan said. He was in the middle of negotiating the

acquisition of a mall, so it shouldn't be a problem.

But they both knew, Jamie had seen these clothes, which made them feel rather uncomfortable.

"No need, I can go to the mall myself while doing some shopping." Cordelia wasn't accustomed to

having personal attendants.

"Also, where did you put his books and notes you brought back yesterday?" Ronan asked casually as

he continued eating.

Cordelia thought, “No wonder he didn't get mad when I brought it up the other day. He's been planning

to ask me all along. He's such a nitpicker, never letting anything slide.”

With a disheartened voice, she said, "The notebook is in the office, and the books are in the suitcase."

"Hmm." Ronan nodded in understanding. How he would deal with this would depend on his mood.

Arriving at the company, Jordan discreetly told Cordelia about her raise.

"That much?" Cordelia was astounded. The amount was significantly more than what Ronan had told

her yesterday.

"The extra is what I negotiated for you. You've been burning the candle at both ends working at Lumos

Plaza recently. Also, since your promotion, you've been taking a lot off my plate," Jordan said with a

smile.

"Thanks, boss." Cordelia feigned gratitude.

Having been at the company for close to half a year, Cordelia had a good read on Jordan by now. She

knew the company wasn't his, nor was the money. So Jordan could afford to fight for a higher salary for

her, putting her in his debt.

Cordelia thought the extra money could be used to buy things for Ronan. She could get him a tie when

she went to the mall to return the clothes tomorrow.

During the lunch break, Cordelia started eating her homemade lunch. Thinking about Ronan, who was

probably eating too, made her feel contented.

The seafood she was having was from the same supermarket as Ronan's. So, did that mean they were

closer now? Thinking about these subtle connections filled Cordelia's heart with sweetness. But there

was also a touch of melancholy after the sweetness.

Just as she was lost in her thoughts, there was a stir in the office.

"Mr. Evans posted on Facebook, it's his first time..."

"What did he post?"

Cordelia was also curious; she picked up her phone to see what Ronan had posted. It was just a

picture of the lunch Cordelia had made for him.

You had to hand it to Ronan, he had some mad photography skills. The composition and colors really

brought out the flavor of the food. Of course, Cordelia's cooking skills played a big part too. The dishes

and coffee together looked incredibly sumptuous.

The reason Cordelia didn't let Janice cook was, firstly, Janice had never done it before, and Cordelia

wouldn't be unreasonable and dump work on her. Secondly, she believed that Ronan would find her

cooking more appetizing, which gave her a sense of accomplishment.

She felt incredibly accomplished, just like right now. Cordelia chuckled and thought that perhaps Ronan

felt his lunch yesterday was too shabby and embarrassing. So, he posted on Facebook to show off to

the other executives and prove that he had brought the wrong lunch yesterday.

Cordelia considerately defended Ronan's pride and commented on Ronan's Facebook post. [You

brought the wrong lunch yesterday. That wasn't meant for you.]

In this way, she helped him salvage his dignity from yesterday.

As colleagues passed by Cordelia, and someone commented, "You two are so lovey-dovey."

"Yeah, Mr. Evans is even publicly showing off the food."

"Right."

Hearing their envious comments, Cordelia found that something that was supposed to be pleasant

sounded somewhat jelly coming from them.

Cordelia ate her lunch quietly, feeling incredibly happy inside.
