The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 129

Chapter 129

Shelley was initially surprised, then she smiled with relief and said. "It’s you, isn’t it?"

Her voice was low and raspy, but Ronan caught it all the same. He thought she was going to say more,

but then Shelley slowly closed her eyes and turned her head to the side.

Ronan checked, and she was still breathing, so she must had passed out again.

Trina came out with a basin and a warm towel.

"Was she awake before?" Ronan asked Trina.

"Nope, been out like a light for six years straight. Why do you ask, Mr. Evans?"As Trina washed the

towels in the basin, she spoke to Ronan.

"Out for six years?" Ronan was taken aback.

"Yup. If she'd woken up, Cordelia would've been over the moon." Trina seemed to be imagining

Cordelia's joy. "Well, Cordelia's her daughter. You know her, right?"

"Yeah."

Ronan stayed there for several more hours, but Shelley showed no signs of waking up. He left. He

could not understand how Shelley could know him? She'd been bedridden for six whole years.

When he visited Cordelia at the hospital that night, he asked her, "Didn't see your mom this week, how

is she?"

Cordelia was much better now. Her headache symptoms had almost disappeared, but she still needed

to receive two hours of intravenous therapy daily.

"Brooklyn went to see her for me yesterday. Mom's still the same." Cordelia said with a somewhat Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

melancholic expression. "No news is good news."

"She's been unconscious all these years?"

"Yeah." Cordelia sighed.

Now Ronan was even more confused. Who did Shelley mistake him for? The only far-fetched

explanation was, Cordelia kept mentioning his name in front of her mom, so even though she was in a

coma, she probably knew him by name. But how did she recognize him at first sight?

"What have you been telling your mom about me?" Ronan asked Cordelia again.

Cordelia looked surprised, "I've never mentioned you in front of my mom."

She had agreed to marry Ronan on the condition that he'd help treat her mom, but she didn’t want to

discuss this with her mom, so she never brought it up.

After a moment of silence, Ronan said to Cordelia, "You're getting discharged next Wednesday."

Wednesday.

The nurse removed Cordelia's bandages. Cordelia immediately felt the back of her head, only a part of

her hair missing. She had a lot of hair, so she could cover up the missing part, no harm done.

When she got home that night, Cordelia held a small mirror, looking at herself in the big mirror.

Because of the angle, she couldn't see clearly. She walked out of the bathroom, feeling dejected.

Ronan was reading in bed again.

"I look horrible." Cordelia said.

"Mmm, seen worse." Ronan said.

Cordelia knew he was referring to the time she wet her pants. She ignored him and turned over to

sleep.

The next day, Lumos Enterprises' lobby was buzzing. They were filming a shampoo commercial, with

Deanna as the star. She played an office worker, who ran her fingers through her hair as she left the

office.

A few days ago, Deanna had asked Ronan if they could film the commercial at Lumos Enterprises. As

they were talking in a small alley in the pedestrian street, Cordelia and Brooklyn appeared in their line

of sight.

Cordelia was anxiously looking around, catching Ronan's attention. Ronan was watching Cordelia with

an amused smile on his face, which nearly drove Deanna mad.

Ronan readily agreed to Deanna's request. Deanna hoped he could be there during the shoot, but he

simply replied, "Too busy."

They were planning to film outside Lumos Enterprises for the whole day.

At noon, Lumos Enterprises' employees started coming down for lunch. Deanna's team finished their

morning shoot and planned to continue in the afternoon. Just as Deanna was thinking about how to

interact more with Ronan, Adrian suddenly appeared. He stormed into Lumos Enterprises, looking at

the people coming out of the company.

Cordelia and Milana also came out of the elevator.

Adrian grabbed the director's megaphone and started, "Cordelia, when does your contract marriage

with Ronan end? What's the point of this contract marriage for money? Mr. Colby took Manda to

PrimeNumbers Accounting as his assistant to stop her from suing you, and you're here in a contract

marriage with Ronan for money, where's your conscience?"

Cordelia was bombarded by Adrian's words, and her head starting to ache. She covered the back of

her head with her hand.
