The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 140

Chapter 140

When Ronan climbed up the stairs, Cordelia was already propped up in bed, reading. She snuck

glances at Ronan. His mood seemed off lately.

"Are you feeling down?" Ronan was lying in bed, and Cordelia walked up to him, looking straight into

his eyes, questioning him.

In the past, when Cordelia stared into Ronan's eyes, he thought it was because she fancied him. Now

he knew she was looking for the shadow of Castiel in him.

"Why are you always staring at my eyes!" Ronan yelled at Cordelia.

"I…" Cordelia was at a loss for words.

Ronan pinned her down. After turning off the lights, memories of Cordelia flashed in his mind. Her

constant staring into his eyes; her craving for tacos every morning; her frequently cooking steak; she

even fantasized about Ronan liking the dish because he had her father's eyes.

So, in her eyes, was he Ronan? Or was he her father.

He had once mocked her for having a sick sense of humor, now he thought it was ironic!

He vented his anger on Cordelia.

The next morning, Ronan let Cordelia go to work by herself, while he stayed at home.

"Are you sick?" Cordelia asked him with concern, despite bearing his outburst the previous night.

"Do I look like a weakling to you?" Ronan retorted. "Can you drive? If so, pick a car and drive yourself

to work. It's a pain to hail a cab here."

"I can't. I don't have a driver's license."

In the past, she didn't have much money. Affording her mother's medical bills was a stretch, let alone

buying a car. Even if she had a driver's license, she couldn’t afford it.

After Cordelia left, Ronan called for his assistant to get Adrian.

He gave Adrian a house, not only because his father had saved his life but also because having Adrian

on his side was beneficial. At least, he wouldn't have to face embarrassing moments in the company

lobby anymore.

Half an hour later, Adrian arrived, and he asked Ronan respectfully, "You wanted to see me, Mr.

Ronan?"

"Has Cordelia been in contact with Jamie recently?" Ronan asked, lounging on the sofa with one leg

over the other.

Adrian had already reaped the benefits of being on Ronan's side. The house was ready for him to

move in. As for Jamie's benefits, they were yet to be explored.

He'd lean towards whoever offered more solid benefits.

"Jamie is just one-sidedly in love with Cordelia, but my sister doesn't even give him a second glance,"

Adrian replied. "My sister only admires capable men like you."

"Did Cordelia mention anything about our company to Jamie?" Ronan asked again.

"Do you mean the thing about our director being arrested? No, absolutely not. When our mom woke

up, Cordelia made up excuses for your absence, or my mom would’ve had a bone to pick with you.

Jamie might've overheard it." Adrian explained.

Ronan's anger subsided.

Adrian explained why Manda had to go to Jamie's office and the incident of Brenda being ostracized.

"From now on, try your best to get Jamie and Manda to cooperate.” Ronan’s intense gaze was fixed on

Adrian. "No matter what it takes!"

Adrian thought for a moment. "Alright. I can do that."

"Also, if you have any problems in the future, come find me."

"Sure," Adrian answered.

After Adrian left, Deanna came by.

"I just went to your office, and your secretary said you didn't come in today. It's so hard to reach you,"

Deanna said, placing her bag on the sofa.

Ronan looked at Deanna's red lips, as if seeing through her schemes.

"Why the sudden visit? You didn't even call me before you came." Ronan's tone was as usual, but

colder than ever.

However, Deanna didn't notice his coldness. "I was afraid if I called you, you wouldn't let me come." Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

After saying that, Deanna glanced at Barney Evans' room.

She actually came to visit Barney, not expecting Ronan to be at home.

"How could that be."

"You're always like this. I have an important project, the original investor pulled out, and I promised the

producer that I could find an investor. Ronan, you have to help me complete it," Deanna said.

"We need to hold a board meeting," Ronan replied.

"Are your words not valid anymore? You weren't like this before."

"Investing in TV dramas is a new business, beyond our scope," Ronan said.

Deanna feigned disappointment. She had mentioned investing in TV dramas to Ronan a few times

before, but Ronan was very cautious, never venturing into unfamiliar territory, or he simply had no

interest in the TV industry.

So, Deanna knew, this was just an excuse.

"Well! I haven't even said hi to Barney yet. Wait a moment." After finishing her sentence, Deanna went

to Barney's room.
