The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 478

Chapter 478

In no time, Ronan's phone beeped with a link from Emerson. It read: "Live stream will start soon."

After entering the hotel, Cordelia and her two companions, Sally and Sean, grabbed some quick bites

before making their way to the conference room.

On the seat, there was the schedule for this forum. It included some of the world's top financial talents,

as well as talents from Wall Street investment banks. Finally, there was a mysterious guest who was

scheduled to speak.

"Ms. Haselwood, who could this mystery guest be?" Sally inquired, seated on Cordelia's left, with Sean

on her right.

"There are a lot of famous people out there. I have no idea who the mystery guest could be."

"Well, I guess that's the most intriguing part of this symposium. Let's wait and see," Sally suggested.

Emerson was scanning the crowd for Cordelia, but the room was too vast and crowded for him to spot

her.

Throughout the symposium, Cordelia hung on to every word, completely absorbed. When the surprise

guest emerged. Cordelia was taken aback. She stared blankly at the stage— it was Jamie Colby.

The host seemed quite thrilled, "Ladies and gentlemen, our next speaker is one of Millstone's most

prominent accountants and now financial analyst, Jamie. He will be discussing sovereign wealth fund

investments."

"Wow, Ms. Haselwood, this mystery guest is so handsome. Have you heard of Jamie before?" Sally's

fan-girl syndrome had kicked in.

"Mhm," Cordelia replied vaguely. She observed Jamie, who was now sporting glasses. Why did

glasses look so different on different people? On some, they added a scholarly touch, while on others,

they accentuated a rakish charm?

Jamie's voice was soothing and his speech was eloquent, witty, and engaging. Cordelia snapped out of

her daze and began to take notes diligently.

The symposium ended around six, and everyone headed to the buffet.

The dining area was massive. As Cordelia was reaching for some fruit, her tongs collided with another

pair.

"I'm sorry," she instinctively apologized.

"Cordelia?" a delighted voice replied.

Looking up, she found Jamie adjusting his glasses, his excitement palpable.

"Mr. Colby," she acknowledged, not as surprised since she had known he'd be there.

"I didn't expect to see you here. Where have you been all these years?" Jamie asked, readjusting his

glasses.

Seeing Cordelia again was like a dream. Even though the symposium was filled with finance

professionals, he hadn't anticipated running into her, especially after losing all contact with her for

years.

"I've been studying for a PhD in finance in the UK and now I'm teaching at Birchwood College. I

brought two of my students to attend this symposium," Cordelia explained.

"Really? That's great." Jamie was visibly moved, seemingly on the verge of tears. Cordelia was the girl

who had stolen his heart at first sight.

He took off his glasses and wiped away a tear. Suddenly, he embraced Cordelia. "Long time no see."

Cordelia didn't pull away. She too said, "Long time no see."

After all, Jamie had been very supportive in the past. He gave her a diary, they exchanged books, and

even opened a firm together. Seeing him after three years brought back a flood of memories.

It was a reunion of two good friends.

"Did you change your phone number? What's your Messenger ID?" Jamie asked, pulling out his phone.

Cordelia shared her contact with Jamie.

Suddenly, a few claps echoed in the room. "Isn't it lovely when old lovers reunite? So envy-inducing

and heartwarming. It's like you just separated yesterday," a sarcastic voice commented.

Cordelia glanced over Jamie's shoulder, and he turned around too.Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
