The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 537

Chapter 537

Cordelia had long been aware that Alana was no shrinking violet. She was ruthless, capable of

anything, and a master at deflecting blame. Fear gnawed at Cordelia's insides as she wondered what

upheaval awaited once she left for England. When it came to money, she was unattached. Her heart

was free from its snares.

"What is your name?" Cordelia lifted her gaze to inquire of the elderly gentleman.

"Name's Tony. Oh, right, last time, were you the one who asked for that scarf vinyl record? I've brought

it for you." With those words, Tony reached into his carry-on bag and produced the record.

Cordelia held the vinyl in her hands, the very item she had requested Eason to bring from England. NôvelDrama.Org content rights.

Today, however, it was Tony who delivered it.

"You are Eason's...?"

"Dad. He's my youngest boy," Tony said with a twinkle in his eye. "Eason thinks the world of you. He

came over to Birchwood College to accept an honorary professorship, and I tagged along. He asked

me to check in on you."

Cordelia was speechless. It's a small world, indeed. It was like running circles around the globe only to

find that the people you encountered were the same ones you knew before.

Cordelia was at a loss for words.

"I've been married before," she confessed.

"That doesn't matter. What's important is that he's taken with you," Tony reassured her with another

warm smile.

"But the one I love is still—my ex-husband," Cordelia added hesitantly.

"Ah, that's..." Tony furrowed his brow slightly. "I'll pass your thoughts on to Eason. Anyway, Ms.

Haselwood, I should be on my way. When you're ready to head back to England, let me know. By the

way, have you seen your doctor friend around the school lately?"

"You know her?"

"Yes, I had someone investigate you at the hospital. Your doctor mentioned she was your primary care

physician. I'd seen her photo, so I recognized her. We compared your DNA with Alana's, and you are

indeed her biological daughter."

Cordelia nodded slowly, a beat behind the revelation. Alana was not the person who had been

investigating her at Victoria Hospital. It was him.

"Where did you see her?" Cordelia inquired further.

"Oh, I was on my way to find you upstairs when I spotted her at the bulletin board downstairs. She

looked familiar from the side, so I guessed she might be here to see you," Tony elaborated.

"Thank you. I'll let you know my decision when I have one," Cordelia said.

She wasn't aware of what Victoria would be looking for on the bulletin board.

"Alright, Ms. Haselwood. Eason and I are staying at the Crown Hotel. Once you've made up your mind,

tell me your answer. He's been quietly researching you for years, and so have I. We both conducted

our inquiries without the other knowing what we were up to. Recently, he mentioned he'd fallen for a girl

named Cordelia, and that's when I realized you were the same Cordelia I'd been looking into. I told him

everything, and he was quite shocked. He's been cooped up in the hotel for days now. He's here but

hasn't seen you, probably to avoid making you uncomfortable," Tony said, his face aglow with affection

for his son.

Tony glanced outside at the quickening wind. "Ms. Haselwood, the wind's picking up. I'd better head

out."

"Take care, watch your step," Cordelia said coolly.

Outside the private dining room, another person was eavesdropping, ready to retreat to her table and

continue dining with her son as if nothing had transpired. After all, the old man didn't recognize her.

She was Petra.
