The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 61

Chapter 61

What was supposed to be a birthday celebration for three turned into a gathering for four.

Deanna had a big cake made for Barney and also put a birthday hat on him.

The doorbell rang and the maid went to answer it, only to find an unwelcome guest - Adrian.

Cordelia's face turned pale at the sight of Adrian. She realized that he had tried to blackmail Ronan

before and failed, so this visit must be premeditated.

"What are you doing here?" Cordelia asked.

"I'm your brother, and it's your husband's grandpa's birthday. We're all family, shouldn't I be here?

Happy birthday, Barney." Adrian handed a bouquet of flowers to Barney.

Cordelia knew Adrian was up to no good and remained on high alert.

Ronan understood Adrian's intentions too, but chose to remain aloof due to Barney's presence.

"Della, who is this?" Barney asked Cordelia.

"Oh, I'm Adrian, Cordelia's brother. You were resting when I visited last time." Adrian casually took a

seat at the dining table.

"Oh, I see. Ronan, why didn't you introduce him?" Barney asked Ronan.

Deanna sat on the side enjoying the drama. She originally intended to mess with Cordelia and Ronan's

relationship today.

But seeing Adrian's attitude, she suspected he was up to no good.

"Don't blame Ronan. After all, they're in a contract marriage, we shouldn't have come in the first place." Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

Adrian said, "The contract marriage was told to me by my sister, right, Cordelia?"

The table fell silent.

Cordelia kept her head down eating, her face pale.

She had never mentioned the contract marriage to Adrian, how did he know?

"Oh? What's this about a contract marriage?" Deanna asked, starting to play along with Adrian.

Deanna had already noticed Cordelia's pale face.

"Cordelia, why don't you explain?" Adrian turned his gaze to Cordelia.

His meaning was clear. If Cordelia was smart and gave him money, he would keep his mouth shut. But

if Cordelia was stubborn, he wouldn't keep the secret. He figured Cordelia had a good relationship with

Barney, so she wouldn't disregard his feelings.

Adrian was cunning, choosing this moment wisely. Any hesitation from Cordelia, and Barney would

know.

"Contract marriage? I'm pregnant now, does that count as a contract marriage?" Cordelia lifted her

head and said with a smile, "According to your understanding, my husband and I got married and

divorced based on contracts, you probably think we're trying to deceive grandpa. But now we're having

a child, who would the child belong to if we divorced? Given my husband's character, you tried to

blackmail him last time and failed, and you're here again, you should be able to tell what kind of person

he is. If it was a contract marriage, would he let me keep the child? Would I be so stupid to get divorced

and still have the child? Besides, I'm going to be an accountant in the future. I would never lose myself

over some petty cash. Getting divorced and having a child, why would I choose that?"

This caused a stir, and also brought up Adrian's attempted blackmail last time.

The implication was that Adrian was trying to blackmail again, and what he said couldn't be trusted.

Cordelia was furious with Adrian, on one hand, because Adrian was her brother and he wanted to end

this marriage, which Cordelia would absolutely not allow. On the other hand, it was because of Barney.

Cordelia hoped he could live a long life. How heartbroken would he be if he knew his beloved Della

was not the granddaughter-in-law he had been hoping for?

Deanna's face turned awkward. She was pregnant?

Ronan was originally planning to ask Adrian "how much money he needed to stop talking nonsense",

but he saw that Cordelia's responses were spot-on.

Now he's just quietly watching like Deanna.

"You're pregnant? Why didn't you tell me?" Ronan looked at Cordelia gently.

Cordelia didn't know how much of Ronan's "gentleness" was real and how much was fake, but he was

playing along well.

"Humph, it's all your fault." Cordelia pretended to blame Ronan and turned her head to the side.

Ronan thought to himself, “Apparently, Cordelia is a better actress than Deanna.”

"Why is it my fault?" Ronan wanted to see what Cordelia was up to.

"Pregnancy, if just saying, I can do it too." Adrian looked at Cordelia, he knew his sister was smart from

a young age, he wondered what idea she came up with this time.

Cordelia pouted her lips, blaming Ronan, "We had a fight a few days ago, I wanted to go back to the

dorm, but you brought me back from the dorm and gave my dorm to someone else, insisting that I

come home. My pregnancy test results are in the dorm. If you don't get my dorm back now, you won't

get to see my pregnancy test results."

Ronan finally understood, Cordelia wanted to take this opportunity to get her dorm back.

All her stuff was already brought back, there was nothing in the dorm, but Ronan couldn't expose it

now.

Cordelia was actually taking advantage of the situation, even at this critical moment, she remembered

this.

"Do you really want to separate from me?" Ronan looked angry.

"If you make me angry again, I'll go live in the dorm and won't share a bed with you." Cordelia looked

like a spoiled child, "Call quickly, don't let the HR director assign the dorm to someone else."

Ronan had no choice but to call the HR director.

But in Adrian and Deanna's eyes, it seemed like Cordelia and Ronan were flaunting their relationship.
