Chapter 75
Chapter 75
In the car.
"Honey, was work stressful today?" Cordelia sweetly asked.
"It was okay." Ronan responded nonchalantly as he calmly drove the car.
"Hmm, I’m just worried you might be tired."
"Worried about what? Our quality time last night didn’t last that long." Ronan said, trying to downplay it.
Cordelia blushed. She didn't mean that. Not at all.
Where was he taking the conversation?
Cordelia coughed lightly, attempting to steer the conversation back to work. "I got an email today about
the company setting up an Audit Department. Is it true?"
"Wyatt plans on starting interviews next week." Ronan replied.
"Next week?" Cordelia asked, surprised.
If the interviews were starting next week, she was totally unqualified. She didn't have a master's degree
or a CPA license.
"Yep. What's up? Why are you so interested in this? Does it concern you?" Ronan seemed to think very
little of Cordelia's abilities. "This is something for high-level professionals to worry about. You're just a
low-level employee; what's there for you to worry about?"
Clearly, Ronan hurt Cordelia’s feelings.
"Do I really suck that much in your eyes?" Cordelia frowned, her voice portraying her hurt emotions.
Ronan chuckled, "You're not that bad. Didn't you say that you wanted to quit?"
Mentioning her resignation made Cordelia a bit awkward, "I... I just thought my colleagues at the
company were too gossipy; it was kind of off-putting..."
Ronan scoffed, "Then why are you so concerned about the newly established Audit Department?" His
attitude turned more serious.
"I... I'm preparing for the CPA exam; I want to..." Cordelia sounded a bit unsure since she needed a
favor from Ronan.
"Want what? You want to join the Audit Department? Looking for a backdoor?" Ronan continued to
question her.
"I..." Cordelia hesitated for a moment, but then nodded firmly. "Yes, I really want to. I'll do my best."
"You're telling me this as someone who wants to quit?" Ronan clearly didn't believe Cordelia's promise.
"I..." Cordelia hadn't expected that seeking help from Ronan would be this complicated.
With the resignation issue being used against her, her situation had now become extremely difficult.
If he knew that she had submitted a job application to Jamie, the consequences could be even worse.
"That's not my call to make. Wyatt is in charge of recruitment; you know he's very rigorous."
Cordelia was stunned. Did Ronan mean he was rejecting her? With her qualifications, she wouldn't
even get a chance to interview.
"If you can't make the decision, why did you say so much earlier?" Cordelia asked, frowning.
Ronan looked at Cordelia. "Did your true colors show?"
Cordelia ignored him and adjusted the back seat so she could pretend to sleep.
Not getting his help made Cordelia's mood even worse.
She closed her eyes, but her mind was racing; she was determined to join the Audit Department.
That night, while Ronan was taking a bath, Cordelia started writing her resume at the table.
Cordelia decided to write another resume in German to leave a good first impression on Wyatt.
She didn't know German.
But Ronan did.
When Ronan came out of the bathroom after drying his hair, he saw Cordelia in front of the computer.
Her resume was already complete.
Cordelia turned her head and looked at Ronan with gentle eyes. "Honey, can you do me a favor?"
"What is it?"
"Can you translate my resume into German? Please, honey!" Cordelia looked like she was sincerely
pleading.
"Cordelia! Don’t you think you're too dependent on me?"
Cordelia immediately became submissive. "I know asking you to translate my resume means I'm not
independent, but I really can't speak German at all, and I really want to make a good impression on
Wyatt. Please. Besides, wouldn't you feel embarrassed if I remained a small employee in the
accounting department?"
With that, Cordelia stood up, pushing Ronan down onto the chair. "I'll give you a massage as well as
anything you want tonight!" Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
"Go downstairs and chat with Barney!" Ronan grabbed the mouse.
"Okay, I'm going right now." Cordelia responded and then headed downstairs.
